This new Lucy Worsley BBC series about Victorian murderesses is good if you like true crime, history and people my wife thinks I fancy off the telly. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/m0016pq3

This is a bit of an odd one and not at all what it seems given the title but ´Weird Crap in Australia´ is pretty good.
It´s more like a true crime, history type of podcast with a bit of odd stuff thrown in. Not a lot of the spooky so I was surprised that I find the true crime stuff interesting if a bit grim. Plus a whole lot of Australian history like Ned Kelly, The Great Emu War, Bushrangers in general, Federation, etc...
I get it´s Australian centered but it is really all very interesting and have probably learned a few things. Also understandable if you can´t get past the hosts.
If you listen to true crime or history podcasts you may find some of it interesting.

What's wrong with the Google Podcast app? Wasn't aware there was one. Plus it's quite nice to give Google a few less cents

That is true, but it's a perfectly fine app. Pocketcast is good too

I only switched from pocketcast because the Google one works well with Android Auto.

Not really a podcast but I’m enjoying Batman: Unburied on Spotify. Like an audio Batman yarn, but with surprisingly little Batman.

I've been listening to it for over a year, and not even sure if this is the right demographics for it because it's mostly American sports and hip hop, and even within sports, basketball more than anything, buuuuut..
All the Smoke
Two ex-basketball players interviewing their favorite athletes and musicians. The Pivot's good too, although the hosts there are from American football. But as a bball fan, All the Smoke appeals to me more.

It's a very silly podcast, but sometimes, silly is good. May I elaborate is a fun, silly podcast. Premise is that JB Smoove (he of Curb your Enthusiasm) will take an inspirational quote and bring his unique silly take on these sayings. Definitely worth a listen. teamcoco.com/podcasts/may-i-elaborate/videosAlso, The Wire is now 20 years old! And to celebrate, they have Method Man hosting a 6-part podcast, explaining behind the scenes stuff and getting interviews with the main cast. Definitely worth a listen. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-wire-at-20/id1626527232

I'm listening to Cane & Rinse based on recommendations here.
I don't know if it's really to my taste; people describe it as a "deep dive" but it often feels like a bit of a love-in for certain games. Some of the forum responses are pretty critical, but then the hosts just say "I disagree!" and basically move straight back into the love-in. Which is fine if that's what you want, but personally I think maybe it needs a bit more variety in terms of the tastes/opinions of the hosts.
I like an American podcast called Watch Out For Fireballs. It's more like a book club but for games. They announce games in advance, and spend 2 to 3 hours going through the whole thing from beginning to end, warts and all. I like the hosts too, and they do a bunch of other shows as well.

I didn't get on with it either but most of my issue was the focusing on one old game aspect. I rarely care enough for a deep dive on something I played years ago.
Skillup has a new bi-weekly podcast that he is doing with 3 other people, the sound quality wasn't amazing on the first one as they did it from summergamesfest but the content was decent enough. New one should be out this weekend. It's called friends per second.

I've been listening to Cane and Rinse for 10+ years and I've found they're fairly balanced. They never use terms like 'best thing ever', 'best game of all time' etc. They hammer home the point that it's all opinions. Can't remember many podcasts where they dismiss a forumite's opinion without reason either. Unless it's Darren Foreman who's not been on the show for 8+ years anyway,
Depends on which games you listen to too - if you're listening to the Breath of the Wild, Left 4 Dead, Super Mario World or Red Dead Redemption podcasts criticism will be on the minimal side as the games are fairly special. On the flip side, listen to the ones on Heavy Rain, Dishonored, Colonial Marines, Braid and the like if you want to hear a harsher critique.
At the end of the day it's a podcast to celebrate games which is what I love about it.

Been liking Terrible Lizards recently.
It's about dinosaurs.
Gone off a few of the old podcasts used to listen to. All Killa No Fills was okay but became a bit repetitive.

It's cool if other people like Cane & Rinse. I just don't really care for the hosts (they're not bad or anything, just fine), and the format isn't as much of a deep dive as I want it to be.

I don’t much care for Leon or Darren. I don’t mind Jay in small doses. I like James and Leah (though I have very different taste in games to her, but she’s good).
I miss the guy from years ago, forget his name but he was on the Shenmue ones back in series 1 or 2, his Scottish accent was so strong that even as someone who normally doesn’t struggle with them I could only make out one word in three.
I’ve stopped listening to the monthly Patreon pod because I have no interest in whatever Star Wars series is currently on Disney+, and the entertaining rice cooker saga is no more.

Hang on, we're skirting over the fact that Zom listens to pods at 1.7 speed!

Hang on, we're skirting over the fact that Zom listens to pods at 1.7 speed! You adapt pretty quickly. It seems absurd at first but quickly becomes second nature and you really don’t miss anything.

I can't concentrate on podcasts when remotely distracted so not convinced...but I may give it a go as I am very behind on lots.
