Ooh, come on mate, Sister Friede boss fight was pure class and her weapon *chef's kiss* Ha ha it was a good fight in the end but fucking hell, three phases? It took a bit of willpower initially.
Don't even get me started on Sword Saint Isshin...
Wound, please meet salt...

I hate bosses with multiple phases that reset the hp bar. I’d even prefer the cosmetic of one super big hp bar you chip away at instead of new full one. Took me a while to get into P, I almost dropped it at several points but glad I stuck with it! I remember the days when we were all moaning about Fuoco. How little we knew!

I think on balance he was the one that caused me most problems, or took the longest. He was certainly the one where my heart sank when phase 2 started....

Could be just me, but I really love the boss fights in this. Difficult but not cheap, just requires you being able to read and learn the attacks. Think the 2 phase bosses have been OK, but am glad they nerfed some like King of Puppets and the Archbishop to have lower health in phase 1 because pre patch that was pretty tedious. But I know those attacks like the back of my hand now!

I don't like boss fights as a general rule - except for the Kojima / gimmicky sort - but in Lies of P they've not, on balance, been too bad. I do agree they haven't felt unfair. Two phase ones can get to fuck though, still I'm pretty sure I've got some of them facing me between now and the end of the game...which I do want to finish in 2023.

I think the bosses overall are really good, I think I just get impatient when I master a phase 1 but it takes a long time to get through to try p2 only to die in seconds.
Especially big guys like the swamp beast where the camera boss can kill you.
One of the good things about Lies is there aren’t any really egregious boss runs. I’m just still bitter from ER when I thought I had finally beaten Malenia but for some inexplicable reason didn’t expect there to be a phase 2!
Having said all that it’s part of the agony and ecstasy of these types of games.

Also I am stubborn about using spectre/summons which doesn’t help. I probably used them for half the bosses in this.
Being 40 plus now I don’t have the reflexes. Not that I was that good in me youth anyway!

Just beat the first two bosses this afternoon. It's okay so far. Main gripe for me is I'm finding it has zero atmosphere. We shall see though, all of you lot seemed to have loved it.

It is a lot cleaner, more sterile than, say, BloodBorne and the lore is less mysterious, there are not really any twists and turns, you'll probably see the story unfold a mile away; however, that did not stop me enjoying it for sure...

Started playing this again on Deck since the patch is out now. Is it me or is it better at holding a 60fps lock now?

Four bosses down. Went the strength build route and pumped everything into attack and stamina so far. No deaths as of yet as I find all normal size enemies can just be rushed and overpowered. Most of the bigger ones can be blocked and then get health back quick enough.
Got the starter sword to +3 I think, got 5 heals now as well which is better. Lvl 39 by the looks of it.

Did the first boss, mad donkey then I tried out summons on the electric one who jumps off the building and then the fire one.
I avoided some other giant boss is toxic water, didn't even want to attempt that due to the toxic and the size of the thing. I'll go back to that later I assume.

Its not just that. Even if you are an elite gamer who clicks with the combat system like youve jacked into the matrix, this game is a motherfucker and ambushes you *constantly*. Unless youre playing with a guide or really have nerfed the shit out of the enemy placement, I just cant see how you havent just been shot off a bridge or had some wanker jump out from behind a crate at you yet.
I know you have to finish everything faster and better than everyone but, come on, man.

First two bosses were straight forward for my build. I'm certain boss 3 and 4 I would have died if I didn't summon.
As for the actual levels 90% of all the enemies I can just rush and stagger.
There hasn't been any big surprises that haven't been in all the other games like this. I'm generally moving with block up and if it looks like an ambush I'll be ready to run or roll through. About three times I've fallen down holes that break but when you land you don't get attacked. On all the bosses I nearly died and I nearly died to one of those giant police officers if that's what they are meant to be. Oh and nearly to the first head thing that electric explodes on the floor.
A common death in say early Bloodborne and nioh is when I'm swamped with lots of basic enemies. In this with my large sword I can get them all to come at me then just spam attack and it's staggers all their attacks. Plus the block, health back mechanism is very generous.
I'm sure I'll die at one point but at this early stage my sword, strength build seems to wreck most things.
Also I remember reading they have nerfed the early game.

I mean, that’s fine, and it’s the internet so whatever, why would you care what I think, but I absolutely don’t believe you, especially as you seem to be trying to get us to think you’re also speed running it.

I can't speed run what I don't know. I for sure will be on here in a few days ranting about how some boss is totally bs and I can't beat it and I hate the game. Standard really.

I mean, it seems like you’ve taken three hours to complete like a third of a 30-40hr game with no deaths so, yeah.

Motivity build is way OP, so it's possible.
But the shovel prick will get you. He gets everyone.

I'm about 10 hours in and it's definitely one of the easier soulslikes that I've played so far. In fact I wish more were at this level. You can die if you're not careful and bosses are hard, but nothing seems impossible and I'm getting way less annoyed with it.

It think it’s possible to get through the levels quickly if you aren’t getting stuck on bosses. They are generally not massive and are pretty linear with regular short cut unlocks and stargazers in the main.
Took me about 40 hours to get the end and I took my time looking into every nook and cranny, listening to dialogue, back tracking and trying out different weapons
Bichii is a bit of a pro at these games (not being sarcastic) and has a lot of experience in the genre.

However if memory serves me correctly I think the director said he was going to get nerfed in the latest patch. So if you sail by, remember the corpses that helped you get there.

I don’t think he was nerfed as much as making quick rise part of the default tool kit was partly a result of him being able to one shot you if you don’t have it and you couldn’t get it by the first time you hit him.

It was possible to not get beaten into the ground by shovel fucker even without rising dodge before this patch, I know I've done it. Think you just need to be mashing dodge.
