In my limited experience NG+ tends to be easier as you know what you’re doing and still out level everything. It’s usually NG++ where you start hitting the level caps and your damage stagnates.

I usually just end up starting a new character because I like the progression and being OP just stops feeling fun before long

Technically speaking, P is a vessel for the Ergo and memories of Geppetto's dead son Carlo, and IIRC "Pinocchio" the fairy tale exists in-universe... So from a certain point of view maybe you're not actually Pinocchio at all.
Then again that interpretation plays into Geppetto's scheme, and fuck Geppetto, so... |
