I didnt want to dump a lot of resources into stamina and found even just being slightly heavy affects regen too much, so always tried to keep under 60%. Especially at the end where everything shocks you and kills stamina regen even more.

That (the stamina drain issue) is worth knowing for the final straight, cheers. I just need to get past the Corrupted Parade Master first. I've only tried a couple of times, and seems like it is doable, but due to stuff / things I can't warp to replenish consumables it seems.

I've been slightly heavy for most of the game...just can't seem to get down below that even though I've upgraded capacity a bit. I guess I've been overdoing it with some of the defense parts I'm using. Are you equipping two weapons at once, by any chance? It's not overly necessary for most of the game and it does help with weight to only use one.

I played most of the game slightly heavy to benefit from the higher frame parts and attack amulets, with the stamina amulets to cover it. Suited my tanky Motivity build.

Phew, got the Corrupted Parade Master. It wasn't skill, technique or even luck that did it.
It was my sassy new top hat and shades.

And there goes the brotherhood, smashed first time, which is not something that usually happens to me. But there's a time for modesty and this isn't it. I beasted the gits.
I suspect something bad is coming soon as this has been an uncharacteristically successful session this evening....

I got two straight nights to have a good run at this and finally finished it. I don’t know if it bugged out or I was just blessed by the RNG gods but it just rained shards on me through the entire game. It felt like every time I went to level up, I had enough shards to score another level on top. Mind you, I never used any consumables or throwing items, so maybe it was for that.
Anyway, I finished on level 100 which felt maybe a tad over levelled maybe, so the final quarter was fairly straight forward. Lightning woman was tough but the next two bosses went down fairly easily.
Overall, yeah, it was great. It stole a bit too much from bloodborne, picking up bad stuff, too, but overall I’m very impressed.

Currently making my way through the factory. I really like it, but don’t love it yet. Not completely sold on the combat as I don’t feel like blocking or dodging are reliable options (dodging in particular) and my parry game is always lousy. There’s so much that’s very good though so I’m sticking with it and seeing if it clicks. I hope it does.

Have you unlocked link dodge in the P-organ?
(I can't even remember when you get access to the P-organ but you must have by now if you are at the factory)

I do want to walk back my "you don't need to parry" position from earlier, at least a little. Doing it during a boss fight yesterday made it a lot easier (and reminded me of a certain Fallen Archbishop fight where I also used it). But I don't think it's essential by any means, and dodging / blocking works just fine for me.

In open play there are enough p-organ upgrades that help with guard regain to make blocking trivial, for sure, but once again its stamina management for boss fights. You can block fine but blocking boss attacks murders your stamina and breaks your stance super quickly.
But, yeah, I thought the boss fights were pretty much the worst part of the game. I hate two phase boss fights so for pretty much every one to be that was just ugh for me. If your first phase is easy enough for it to just be resource management for phase two, you dont need it.

That's good to know there's upgrades that help with guard regain. I'll make sure to make a beeline for them. Yes I also hate multi-phase boss fights. Just give me a good well designed boss fight with one sodding health bar. FlexibleFeline Yeah I've unlocked the dodge link and it IS better, but not great. I'm sure it'll click. There's more than enough here to like.

I'm quite sure you'll like it wunty; compared to Lords of the Fallen, this is smooth sailing! Just keep in mind that dodge while locked-on to an enemy works different than dodge without being locked-on.

I read somewhere dodge link described as the "I want to play Bloodborne not Sekiro" perk and that's how it's been for me. Works very well, I don't know if it's build specific.
Anyway, yeah count me in on the two-phase two-health-bar boss fight hate group. Just a terrible, terrible idea.

As I say, it's my favourite genre. They all have their own things going on though and sometimes it takes a bit longer to click with my old brain! I don't honestly think it will top LotF for me but that's as much to do with visuals and setting as anything else. I just love what LotF did with their world. That said, the combat is just SO crunchy in this, and I do love a rapier. The only other thing I'm not massively keen on is the linear game progressioin, but the levels themselves are very well designed with multiple paths to explore, so it's not a biggie.

There is also a 'I fucked up my timing' p-organ upgrade that reduces dodge damage if you are fully committing to that.
The other upgrade I wish I had taken earlier was legion recharge. It means you can freely use it in combat without having to twat around drinking potions so, for my build, I always had puppet string or aegis on tap (and aegis is godlike for clutching out fights).

I definitely get the love for LotF. LotF has a very specific and special atmosphere and it's tantalisingly close to greatness but they blew it (on xbox at least). I'm disappointed about this but the game overall is still far from a disappointment as there is so much that is good about it both in following genre conventions and innovating on them. Re: Lies of P's linearity, it's actually something I came to really love about the game. It does enough to make you scratch your head and search nooks and crannies without overwhelming you. The factory level is a good example - I was bloody determined to beat that lumbering Puppet of the Future but knew there must be a way to solve an...obstacle to attacking him, let's say, to be intentionally vague. There was, and it was satisfying to solve it and to rinse out the whole level (there are more, if not secrets, then things you could easily miss in the factory).

I just fired up DS3 on my shiny new Steam Deck yesterday. Haven't played it in years. It looks glorious, I suspect the battery will last for one phase of the Sister Friede fight never mind the whole bloody thing!

Same. I feel I never really got my legion arm quite right, and ended up chopping and changing Aegis and Flamberge, and broadly regretting I didn't fully upgrade Puppet String as consensus seems to be this is the best option. Still time to do so, I guess, I've just left a submarine and so am presumably in the final area...and I think I have some unused upgrades.

You've reminded me that I haven't made much use of re-speccing, I really should. I did it once for the P-organ when I learned I'd effed up the bonuses in stage one and that's pretty much it.
Anyway, cheers, will give that a go. I'm itching to get back to it but have too much work to do (as evidenced by my posting on a gaming forum).

Nameless puppet largely went down thanks to puppet string and electric grindstone. I spammed that until he was shocked and then piled on him.

I hate bosses with multiple phases that reset the hp bar.
I’d even prefer the cosmetic of one super big hp bar you chip away at instead of new full one.
Took me a while to get into P, I almost dropped it at several points but glad I stuck with it!
