Like others, I haven't played a large number of 2021 games, so I'm going with:
Resident Evil Village
Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut
I'm dying to play Psychonauts 2, but it's too pricey right now.

Ratched & Clank: Rift Apart, Metroid Dread and Guardians of the Galaxy are my choices.

Resident Evil Village is the only game from this year I’ve played. It was okay but hardly GOTY material. I might have a PS5 before Christmas so could try this Returnal others have mentioned.

It takes two.
Technically impressive, narratively tight, a super fun co op experience. Playable with a mate or with your kids.

I know it's not out until next week but I'm gonna nominate Shin Megami Tensei V. I have faith in Atlus to deliver an absolute belter. And what a game they delivered. I stand by my nomination of SMTV, best game I've played in a long time. |

I guess if I am going by hours put into it it should be Cyberpunk, but it never really realised its potential and probably never will. A fairly unsatisfying completion.
So for quality I would say Demon Souls or Ghost of Tsushima, they would be the games of the year for me. Never had a PS3 so came to it fairly fresh, and Ghost is right up my street with regards the setting and execution.
Nopped on a lot of games as I have a digital PS5 and the prices are stupid for most of them on Sonys fucking closed market store
