gLOL at Greg begging them not to back Connor for President: "I owe it to my country to say you shouldn’t make Connor president."

The episode was a tough watch at times. Tom is such a sad sack I can’t help but pity him. And Greg… fuck Greg.
“Do we really need Greg here?”

It was very good, very funny and also quite grim - classic Succession, really. Apparently, according to Nicholas Braun, the office trashing scene was improvised by MacFadyen (who continues to do really good work). I agree with Ecosse that Greg had in some ways been disappointing this season, but I loved his subplot this episode. He can be such a charming goofy fucker at times. The episode belongs to Kendall, though. How the hell do they make me sympathise with him? Partly because despite being an arse (plenty of evidence this episode), he's just so lost. The parenting inflicted on all of them has damaged them all but my heart bleeds for him in particular. Partly Jeremy Strong's performance - though all performances are fantastic in truth - and partly since that scene in S2E7 where he is clearly traumatised and tries talk to his Mum and gets such a callous English brush-off.

Great episode again tonight - everyone brought their A-game. A few observations: - The simple thought of what Kendall might actually do at his party was giving me anxiety
- Roman does his best (and worst) work in the toilet
- I'm not so sure Tom and Greg should be celebrating just yet
- Shiv's dancing
- I've gone from being mildy amused by Roman, to wanting bad, bad things to happen to him

I know everyone takes turns in being the worst sort of cunt in this show, but I think Kendall took about three goes this ep.
The watch bit was particularly brutal.

I feel the same way towards Kendall, he can be so preposterous and a twat but to me is as close to a decent person as he could be being in that family and suffering the abuse he has.

This season goes from strength to strength. Brilliant episode. So many exquisite, excruciating scenes. Favourites being Shiv and her Mum at the bachelorette, Shiv and Tom's sex talk, Logan and Roy's dinner (just in case we'd forgotten - Logan is indeed a bastard) and of course the whole dick pic sequence, which was just perfect. Roman's face :-DDD

That was awesome, except for the ending. I love Kendall and his bastard dad won't give a shit that he's dead, he was too weak. Bastard.

"He's not posh. His father was a doctor and he bought all his own furniture."
I'm only 17 minutes in but I've had to pause it. So good.

I actually found the latest episode pretty boring And the Kendall party one fizzled out as well. I read a review several episodes ago which said that whilst scene by scene it is still great, the plot this series has been weak, and I'm tending to agree now. There is so little overarching plot other than the general bickering. Some of the recent episodes could almost be interchanged and it wouldn't make a difference to the story.

There is a huge overarching plot, they have had to fight over a hostile takeover attempt and they realise if they don't adapt really quickly that they are a few years away from being fucked. Also Kendalls constant attempts to take over the company have seemingly been crushed and he has been pretty much destroyed by it.
It's easy to ignore that if you focus on the bickering and infighting. I'm not overly sure what more they could do plot wise without it seeming jarring as people watch it for the characters.
Edit; also the DOJ investigation over cruises (which was a little underbaked but I'm not sure it's over yet).

I think the issue is that the big arcs for this season completely fizzled out, the DoJ/Kendall stuff amounted to little in the end but I suppose that's the point, with immense power, no morals and viciousness you can do anything and little can ever be a real threat. We see that over and over. I was really hoping there would be an epic tussle between Kendall and Logan but I suppose that last night made more sense, I always thought that Kendall was a good guy deep inside and battling against the insane world he grew up with and his manipulative monster of a father so him throwing in the towel after being broken by the basically evil behaviour of Logan (and Roman) as he knows that he cannot compete as he is not nasty enough, he finally realises that he does not want to be his father. The only way he could have a chance against his dad would be being something he's not, which he has tried over and over. . Shame to see Greg being more and more of a fanny but that's the corrupting influence of the Roys in action....

The Kendall v Logan plot has been weak but I think that will have a sting in the tail.
The hostile takeover is too abstract to be the centrepiece. It feels like we've been about to have a board meeting each of the last 4 episodes or so, only for someone to make a phone call and whack a plaster over the problem. Too many episodes have been a variant on that, fighting back against an invisible enemy, or an occasional sassy 5 minute chat with whoever has been drafted in to be the enemy this week.

Hard to see a sting in the tail coming unless Kendall isn't dead and his near-death experience somehow gives him his mojo back plus shiv switching sides plus something big changing politically.

You reckon the DOJ story is all done? Greg and Tom were absolutely shitting themselves and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them co-operated.

I've binge watched the lot of this over the past few weeks, which is rare for me as I usually get bored with most shows dragging on for the sake of it. It's absolutely brilliant stuff.
I feel like there's a gap in my life, having to wait for the final episode.
