Geri, Karl and Frank...what do they actually do other than hang about and give predictable advice?

Geri was pretty important in the early series, they kind of phased her out a bit later which is a shame as she was a really good character.
Karl and Frank were there to be shouted at mostly.

I think that ended probably the only way it could. Slightly flat after it all. Only niggle for me is Shiv's abrupt 180. Haven't looked into it further though to see what the writers think.

There's no overt telegraphing of her reasons for it - to the show's credit. A few things are important in my view: she never wanted Kendall as CEO. The pact with her Kendall and Roman - her and Roman giving Kendall the haunted bauble - was much less in line with her general motivation, and driven by revenge. It was fragile, and temporary. Also, she just knows Kendall is shit: no one knows it better than her and Roman. This risks her wealth, which is bound up in stocks and shares, the value of which is more likely to plummet under reckless Kendall than safe stooge Tom. None of this is explicit - the closest we get is her look, an almost imperceptible flicker of her eyes, when Kendall puts his feet up on Logan's desk while shit-talking Stewie prior to the meeting.

All true. I dunno, just felt slightly off, but there may have been subtleties that I missed. Overall though, an exceptional series, probably top 3 for me - I haven't got that sense of loss like other shows (Sopranos and The Wire especially), but also think it's better written. The dialogue was just amazing throughout.

Definitely top 3 for me, and probably top...just feels a bit early to say that, doesn't it? But S4 was staggeringly consistent, and did so well even without the big man (or maybe, in fact, because of his absence).
Astonishingly well-written and acted, to generate such investment in such a bunch of unsympathetic reprobates. And I'll never not piss myself when I watch a scene with Tom and Greg. Pure, pure gold. The deck shoes scene is one of many that has me chuckling aloud wherever I am whenever I think of it.

Not sure if Greg has won there! Tom's keeping him on to punish him for eternity for his betrayal and Greg's going to eat it up. Did love the slap though. One step down from Shiv on the bottom feeders roster. . I feel anything where Gregg survives with a high paying job is winning for him.

It's definitely in my top one.
It's not that it's objectively better than The Wire or The Sopranos or Breaking Bad it's simply that I enjoyed the experience of watching it more. Really looked forward to and savoured every episode, with each being an hour of alternating between grinning and wincing, utterly engrossed.
Whilst I'm doing favourites:
Season: 2 - contains my favourite episode (below), and I just think it's where it really hit its stride with the characters and script. Plus their in your face absurd wealth was really rammed home with some eye popping locations.
Episode: S02E10 - the one with them all on the superyacht discussing (without directly arguing) who was going to take the bullet.
Scene: Roman's rocket launch - His reaction. No dialogue, yet I couldn't breathe with laughing. Just thinking about it brings joy. Absolutely masterful.

Yeah the rocket scene is one of the funniest on TV in recent times for me. That and what Murray Bartlett does in the last episode of White Lotus S1.

I've only just twigged that Fisher Stevens, the guy who plays Hugo, is also the lead actor in Short Circuit. The browned up one.
Also Iggy in Super Mario Bros., apparently.

Massive spoilers in this but well worth watching if you've passed the third episode of the final season. youtu.be/2XAxyeKDXsgThe attention to detail, care and push for authenticity is why it's peak TV. Also I can't believe the plane interiors were just a set. In hindsight it's obvious but they look so convincing that I just assumed they went and filmed on one at an airfield. Feel a bit silly now.

The dialogue was just amazing throughout. I'm with you on this - just finished it yesterday. Fantastic series and adored the last episode right up until this point - it seemed to come out of nowhere. It's a shame as knowing that it ends on such a downer means I'll probably never watch it again. It's a shame as the acting is amongst the best I've seen in a TV series and the first two seasons are incredible television. Why did she suddenly 180? Why did Frank go against Kendall when he'd been with him for a long time over the course of the series and was on Matsson's kill list? Why did Stewie mention Sandy could be turned but nobody acted on it? I guess the point was that the siblings are stuck in a love/hate pattern and this is just a continuation of that. Doesn't make for a satisfying ending though. Tom is the only one who feels like he had a complete character arc and closure. Ah well, it's not the only great TV series to not stick the landing.

I think Roman got closure. He was the only one seemingly happy about the outcome. Tom did to a degree but only until he gets fired
