Probably needs its own thread.
S3 Ep1 first impressions: Hugo has a weirdly thin neck.

I've never seen this show, is it as good as everyone is telling me? By everyone I mean the internet.

Started watching this last week with the Mrs. Just watched Episode 8 of Season One ("you swallowed a load?"). It's a bit fucking good isn't it? Every character is brilliantly loathsome in their own way.
Didn't realise until today that it's written by one of the Peep Show writers. Don't know how I slept on it for so long.

Probably needs its own thread. S3 Ep1 first impressions: Hugo has a weirdly thin neck. I was thinking exactly the same! Well, more precisely, I don't remember that thin neck from Short Circuit. Yes, this show is every bit as brilliant as the hype suggests. An astonishing cast and razor sharp, hilarious writing. Genuinely up there in my top five shows of all time.

"Congratulations Tom, I hear you swallowed your own load.β Prague is a brilliant episode, but then again, it maintains - increases, even - its quality quite remarkably as it develops. And yes Jesse Armstrong is the showrunner. As usual for this kind of thing there's a team of writers, but it's his baby.

1st ep of S3 was good, it's great to have it back, I just wish it was all there so I could binge it in a few days.

Yeah, it's going to be hard having a slow weekly drip feed. I rewatched S1 and S2 in anticipation and it is one of those shows that is very easy to binge.

I'm still of the belief that one of the writers thought of the line "You can't make a Tomlette without breaking a few Greggs" years ago and then wrote the show around it.

Haha, I know what you mean, the line is too good to have been thought up as they were devising the senate hearing. The whole context of the line with Eavis grilling Tom is hilarious, too.
"Do you know what is special about the hours between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. on the night of March 12th?"
"Uh, no sir"
"That was the only two-hour period in which you did not send an email to Mr Hirsch with the title 'You can't make a Tomlet without breaking some Gregs'. You sent the same email to him 67 times in one evening"

In the last few years this has worked its way into my top 5 TV shows of all time.
I love/hate every single character and it really is endlessly quotable. βWe hear for youβ π
Last nights episode was great, but boy theyβve really amped up the intensity.

S3E1 already so good. Greg's repeated patting Kendall's back "You're mashed potato."

It's just so bloody good. Has to be in the conversation for best TV series of all time. The new series just reaffirms that.
Greg's confused, vulnerable, desperation is hilarious and the civil yet awful way Shiv treats Tom is exquisitely sociopathic.
They're all brilliantly written and acted characters and it's the most consistently entertaining drama I can remember. Every scene is gold.
Magnificent television.

Hmm, yeah. Subscribed to HBO Max today and have been bingeing this all day. It's incredible how a show with such unlikeable people is so eminently watchable.

Really loving this, brilliantly S3 maintaining the quality. I hope to see more of the dodginess of the Roman/Gerri relationship, it's too good. Hoping for good-guy Kendall to prevail and him to snap out of being as dickish as his dad. Greg is awesome though

The fact that Kendall could even remotely be considered a "good guy" speaks volumes about the pure levels of cuntiness displayed by most of the characters.

Indeed, they're all monsters to a degree it's a stretch to call Kendall a 'good guy' but in the context of this show he has an element of conscience but it's incredibly distorted.

Love this show. Still on season one, just started the Prague episode which I hear is a cracker. Mrs Chilli fell asleep during ep2 and thinks it boring. Our taste in TV is soooo different

Dougs may not be the most controversial Succession related poster any more.

I'm really not enjoying the US getting to see this 24 hours before the UK. I'm having to dodge the socials all day today for fear of ruining plot points.
Does everyone have a favourite episode?
I think I'm going to go for "Dundee". It's the rap that elevates it to legendary status.

I don't think of him as a real good guy but he has some compassion and a conscience which puts him miles ahead of the rest, in S3E2 we saw him being a shouty abusive twat like his father which is hardly surprising after his upbringing but hope he realises and gets that to fck. Not sure between Tom and Connor who is the most pathetic... insert code here

Our taste in TV is soooo different Shame she didn't stick with it, no idea how it could be boring but each to their own. We've binged the fuck out of it, utterly engrossing.

I suppose Greg is the closest to a good guy.
One thing I find a bit much is just how incredibly useless Tom is which Logan would see through from a like of, shocked that he would appoint him to such a position. Also, not sure what Shiv sees in him beyond pissing dad off.
