It's the best thing that could have ever happened to Ken, he just doesn't realise it yet.

Not sure he's sticking around to find out... That water looked very fast and it's been a theme they've returned to many times now.

If that was the case I would imagine he would have gone there by himself.
We can probably stop with the spoilers now it's all done. If anyone comes in here now before watching the finale they have pretty much done it to themselves.

Strong mentions in the podcast there was a take where he tried to jump in the water. Kendall does have the chops to be a CEO anywhere else but he just can't see it and would it even matter if it isn't with his dad's approval?

loved the video with the kids looking on, they got to see their dad happy and laughing but it was still only through a window/keyhole and something they'd never be part of. Connor was there, despite being the joke he was the one who actually had some connection with Logan.

Wondered just for a second in that kitchen scene whether the writers had fallen for their own characters and wanted something for them.
Nope. Savage ending.
Feel for Kendall. Glad Roman got out. Fuck Shiv. Same. I was thinking hmm are they really going to end it like this? Should have known better!

I can't stop thinking about it today.
Quite interesting thoughts from Jesse Armstrong here on his plan for the final season and each sibling's resolution:
Ties in with Lucy Prebble sharing that Armstrong always had a firm idea of the destination, but the writers' room had free reign on how to get there.

Interesting. Must have been so, so hard to make that call to end it with the obvious love they have for it, the team, and people have for it too. Would have been so easy to string it out. Respect the strength it must have taken to make that call.

Connor was there, despite being the joke he was the one who actually had some connection with Logan. One of my favourite scenes too, highlighting the complex relationship the kids have with Logan. To me the excitement just shot through the roof seeing Greg and Tom slapping each other, the reactions from everyone, it felt like it was starting to rocket towards the conclusion from there, in a good way. And to think if Tom hadn't said anything, the outcome might have been different.

I predict that "pain sponge" will make it into the OED.
One of the Succession writers already has "omnishambles" in there from his Thick Of It days.

A brilliant ending to a brilliant TV show. Gripping from the first episode to the last and will go down as one of the greatest TV shows of all time.
The extra 30 minutes for the final episode really helped, the tension building throughout and an emotional rollercoaster right up to the closing shot.

It's kept popping into my thoughts since I watched it yesterday. So good... I don't really know how they managed to squeeze so much into the final episode in such a satisfying way. 90 minutes really didn't feel enough to wrap everything up after the penultimate episode, but they really pulled it off.
The trip to Mummy's residence was so good. I couldn't stop laughing at "Nobbies" and "pregnant cello". Absolute zingers. The husband and his chum pitching to the Roys was hilarious as well - so cringeworthy seeing some millionaires basically do a piss weak Dragon's Den pitch to the billionaires. Then the siblings finally being siblings. It felt so genuine watching them make the 'smoothie', like finally they'd unlocked their love for each other.
Then the trip to Logan's apartment and the video. Again, it was actually really touching and for once I felt some sympathy for them. I genuinely thought we might have a happy ending, which I thought would actually be fairly interesting given the entire show was so brutal throughout. Almost the reverse of a finale where they DO actually somehow live (somewhat) happily ever after.
I was convinced the vote would go in Ken's favour and then when Shiv swerved I felt pretty furious with her. I was Team Ken, so thought it made sense. As they peeled off to the side room, I was genuinely thinking... if there's one thing the writers seem to forget and sweep under the carpet throughout the entire show was Kendall killing the waiter. Then, BAM, right in the kisser. I felt pretty smug in the moment and then horrified at Ken casting it all as fiction and myself tbh for forgetting what a cnut he is really.
Other amazing bits: - Greg and Tom's WC 'fight' - Greg's ingenuity with his phone and subsequent downfall - Greg knocking over the bell in the flat that he knocked over in S1 - The snippet of Frank and Karl saying how they'll ruin Tom - love seeing them scheme just as hard as the Roys - "It's like Jesus and his disciples... and look even Judas is in the room!"

That was great. Tom and Gregg winning! Perfect.
I particularly liked during Kendall's full breakdown the exchange of: "I'm the eldest boy" and Shiv just giving him a look and saying "No you're not" as he'd entirely forgot Connor in the moment.

Not sure if Greg has won there! Tom's keeping him on to punish him for eternity for his betrayal and Greg's going to eat it up. Did love the slap though. One step down from Shiv on the bottom feeders roster. .

Slightly unusual take on Shiv losing, she may not have the top job but she has more money than Tom could ever dream of having (same with the other children as well). Tom has to eat shit for the rest of his career to stay in his job and the second there is a downturn he is gone.

Hmm I dunno. She doesn't care about money. None of them actually do as it's literally never been an issue their whole lives. It's always been about status and living up to the family name in their own right.
I kind of read it as her trying to do 'the right thing' for the greater good and then belatedly realising the personal repercussions. She's basically ended up trapping herself in the same position as her mum, who she doesn't respect.

She isn't trapped though, she can walk from that relationship at any point.
I don't think it's about status either, none of them every really gave a shit about what others thought of them. They just wanted to be daddy's number one and the one that was picked.
Apart from Connor, he gave up on that before the series started.

She's trapped by her own nature and she's sacrificed all of her beliefs. No power in that relationship - that grim look on Tom's face at the end said it all. Not to mention the fact she was ditched by Mattson for Tom on the most insulting, sexist grounds (why have the baby lady when I can have the guy who put the baby in the lady...) and because she was too smart and he couldn't deal with their sexual chemistry. He'd questioned whether a mum could do the job earlier in the season too.
She's chosen a loveless, powerless life working under the man she held all power over (himself described as a pain sponge by the real boss) and who betrayed her last season, over seeing Kendall in the driving seat, so I can't see her leaving... Only Roman had any sense of clarity for me at the end. He knows they're nothing.

Yeah, for me Roman came out the best, and the only one who has any self awareness without ego. I guess he was kinda like that throughout, but was often seen as the clown that had no chance, but in the end seems smarter than the other two in many ways. But yeah, he was right. None of them did anything to deserve it. Logan chose none of them, he chose to sell! They are all fuck ups in their own ways, and would likely have fucked up the company. Shiv's decision was obviously hard, as Mattson screwed her over and she was in an on/off war with Tom. I guess she couldn't handle the jealousy of it being Ken, and she can settle for always having the option of having a high up spot in the company with Tom in charge. She has somewhat kept the company in her family, without the others.

Is it better to know you're worthless or better to have a false sense of purpose?

With Roman I got the feeling that after the smirk there was a look of guilt or doubt maybe. He's always been back and forth with allegiances and now he's done enough to completely break his relationship with the two remaining closest to him as well as losing his dad and Gerri. He like the others are stupidly rich and Roman is completely free to do anything but I wonder if he has the capacity or desire to persue anything that would make him happy. The only one that will be there is Connor, who's there for everyone.
It also just happens to be that in this petulance and childish grasp for power, they've also fucked over a lot of people by steering Mencken into power as well.

I just don't know if it's a perfect ending, or a terrible one. Because I just want to know where things go from here for everyone!!
I guess everyone wondering what happens after the show's last episode is a testament to the quality of the show.

Yes. Similar to the sopranos. The characters live on (probably) we just don’t get to watch anymore. And that hurts. The sign of a great show.

This has jumped into my all time favourite shows.
Still king is Twin Peaks and they managed to make us wait 25 years before coming back, so maybe in the late 2040s we could come back to the world of the Roy's and find out what happened.

I just don't know if it's a perfect ending, or a terrible one. Because I just want to know where things go from here for everyone!! I guess everyone wondering what happens after the show's last episode is a testament to the quality of the show. Roman is thinking of Geri while being pity-spanked in his favourite jerk dungeon. Tom and Shiv are browsing high-end baby gear catalogues in their hellish facsimile entent cordiale sham of a marriage. Connor is examining Napoleon's penis, Willa is crying in the penthouse bathroom now she realises Con will not, in fact, be away most of the year. Geri and Karolina are de facto running the company. Matsson is bored of it all. Unable to decide between a gold bomber jacket and an orange turtleneck, he takes to wearing both. When not siphoning off his own blood. Frank is enjoying retirement on the golf course, Karl is enjoying retirement in a high-class escort. Greg, criminal mastermind, is wearing deck shoes in his under-furnished penthouse, stroking a brown envelope labelled "receipts"...but they are not in fact receipts: what genius polyglot could ever hope to crack his impenetrable code? And Kendall, sadly, is dead. OD. Colin found him in his apartment. The walls were covered with one repeated line of frenetically scrawled graffiti: I am the eldest boy.

I think Kendall would definitely be in the "if I can't have it no-one can" mindset and going back to Pierce hoping to acquire Waystar instead of ODing...
Also Tom and Shiv will not last beyond the moment they need to pick the last name for their offspring...
