Let's see how those ports turn out first before we jump the gun. It's Konami.

Yeah. I fully expect MGS1 in particular to just be a straight PS1 ISO like all the PS1 on PS4/5 Classic releases. It’s like when they released the Legacy Collection on PS3, and the first game was just a PS Classic code.
Only 3’s getting any actual work done.

There's every chance they'll Konami it up royally, of course - it'd take an even bigger fool than I to deny as much!
Still, the MGS Master Collection would have to be a big stinking pachinko machine of terribleness to end up as a less appealing proposition than Red Dead's PS4 debut.

There was this ancient game on Apple IIC called “Below The Root.” I had a pirate copy that was bugged and you couldn’t progress past a certain point, but I was absolutely fascinated by that game, could really use a remake.

Aren't RDR and Revengence playable on Series X?

RDR certainly is, and has been since before RDR2 came out (if memory serves).
EDIT: Assuming the X's backwards compatibility works the same way as the Xbone.

Aren't RDR and Revengence playable on Series X? Yeah, they both are. Red Dead in particular runs at 4K60. 👀 But Uly’s PS-only so…

Is that as a download? I loved RDR2 so should probably play the first one, especially as it continues the story of some of the characters

Either way. BC on Xbox is technically all downloads. So if you bought a 360 disc for 50p or whatever used and put it in your Series X (or One for that matter), it’d actually just download the updated version from the server and the DVD would be mostly a disc check. But the digital version goes on sale all the time as well, usually in the Deals with Gold section of the sales tab.

It’s been awhile since I booted it up, but I could’ve sworn it was 4K30 on One X, then it got an FPS Boost for Series X?

No, I think the Series S got a boost to 1440p but it's always been locked to 30fps and the Series X is 4k30. I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Alright, I guess I misremembered. Everything I’m seeing on YT is 30fps.
Although now I finally saw the trailer to the PS5 and Switch ports. The PS5 version is 4K! Didn’t I see people say it was 720p 360 code?

There isn't a PS5 version per se, it's just the PS4 Pro version in BC mode. The Switch will most likely be 720p and the OG PS4 will prob be 1080p.

A remaster of Dawn of War 1 would be pretty cool. Not sure Relic is in a state to do it anymore though.
I also have no idea how big the RTS market is these days.

I'd like a remake of Enslaved.

I'd like a remake of Enslaved.
I'd definitely be up for that. Trip and Monkey were two great characters, wonderfully voiced by two amazing actors (Andy Serkis and Lindsey Shaw).
I would be up for revisiting this world and spending more time with these two characters.

The only issue there is that it sold absolutely fuck all. It was ok, but it became very repetitive very quickly and ended rather abruptly just as it was gathering some momentum. Between this and DMC it's very clear why Ninja Theory receded a bit and went to make something small with Hellblade.

Its a shame, because I thought both Enslaved and DmC were both excellent games. I know a lot of the rabid fanboys got up in arms over the style of the new Dante, but overall they did a great job.

I don't think you need to be a rabid fanboy to think the new design and general tone of the game were crap
If they remade Enslaved, they could add some decent gameplay
I personally just don't think Ninja Theory are very good at making games

I recall Enslaved being one of those titles that looked better than it played (not that the gameplay was bad, it was just solid rather than spectacular). Not quite as extreme as The Order on that count though.

I don't really blame them for DMC though, that I lay all on Capcom who at the time were fully in the thrall of outsourcing a lot of their IP to Western studios because of Japan's absolutely glacial response to the HD era and how uncomfortable they were with it. Capcom signed off all of Ninja Theory's work and we're happy with it's production. The best thing that ever happened to Capcom is when Inafune left.

I'm not mad at them for 'ruining' DMC or anything like that. Even if it had nothing to do with Devil May Cry, it's stil a horribly wrtten cringefest. If anything, the DMC gameplay is the only good thing about it

Ninja Theory is a great motion capture studio that makes bad video games.
But I enjoyed DmC.

Oooh. If that 720p is the same in portable, that would be perfectly fine on Switch. Docked, however, is a bit of a shocker. I assumed they’d be putting some effort in with all the repackaging and early announcements. Unlike Read Dead with its sudden announcement and quick release.
Still might pick up the first and third games on Switch, but if that’s the state on the other consoles it’s going to be a pretty hard sell on those.

Sound like puff pieces as in both articles the games are acknowledged as basically re-releases of the 2012 versions that MGS fans already paid for once. Just now available at a higher price with some extra bonus fluff included - artwork etc. I'll stick to the MGS collection of back compatibility on Series X but am still looking forward to the proper MGS3 remake.

I certainly wouldn't rule out the possibility that IGN and GS are blowing smoke up Konami's ass.
Personally, I'll be waiting for the reviews - MGS5 is one of my favourite games ever, and I haven't had a chance to play anything else in the series, but if the compilation is as lazy as some outlets are suggesting, I won't be paying £55 for it!
On a separate note, I wouldn't say no to a remake of Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan! (especially as I'm coming around to the notion that Ishin is the only must-buy Yakuza game for me as things stand).
