Kotaku and Eurogamer are both reporting that the group that bought all those properties off Square are real interested in remakes, among other things.
Personally, I'd be well up for a remake of Deus Ex that ties in to a potential third in the Adam Jensen trilogy.

Oh, so they're THQ Nordic, right? The publisher that comes up with all of the dumb subtitles for their remasters, like Warmastered Edition and Deathinitive Edition? Can't wait to see what dumb shit they come up with here.

It'd be nice to see a game that isn't about being an online service game.

Has anyone said Power Stone in this thread?
I want more of that. I know that arena beat em ups are now legally required to be Exactly Like Smash Bros but with even more cross-promotional branding (woah! BATMAN IS FIGHTING BUGS BUNNY), but Power Stone didn't give a shit about any of that. And unlike Smash, it wasn't weirdly complicated either.

I've mentioned a few games here before, but the one in my head now is Final Fantasy Tactics. And Tactics Advance, and Tactics A2... All of them, really. The original Tactics only ever had a PSP port with some added content but horrendous loading so it deserves a proper remake/remaster, Tactics Advance was great and really charming but had some incredibly obtuse systems that could use tweaking and A2 was just hours upon hours of fun (I think my first save file ended up at 160-170 hours or thereabouts and I wasn't even close to 100%... Even with not knowing what I was doing, that's a lot ) Admittedly, for A2 specifically I'll miss the things an emulator lets you do with AR codes, like making monsters or enemy/NPC characters join your party, or getting impossible skill combinations, but it'd be worth it imo... Plus you never know what they could add

I'd love it but I doubt many people would buy it abd that's the crux of the whole thing, we'd love a lot of these games to return but how many would be sold to justify the investment cost.

With the jump in tech I'm surprised we haven't had a remaster of the Resident Evil: Outbreak games.
Missed them first time round so both games at a budget price would be most welcome.

Midnight Club Los Angeles would be great. Or at least a 4K X patch on Xbox.

I don’t know if this deserves its own thread, but If you could revive any old IP, which would it it be, and how would do you do it?
My choice is Ridge Racer Type-8. There’s almost zero chance that Bandai Namco could greenlight a traditional arcade racer where you choose a car and a track and just go. So instead we modernize it while paying homage to the best entry in the franchise. First you build a big Forza Horizon like open world version of Ridge City. All the previous entries had different variations of the same track. Longer courses, courses in downtown, courses by the beach, courses by the airport. So you contexualize it by literally building a big city with different neighborhoods. Then you build different event styles to keep racing fresh. Normal races, event races, drift races, hill races, offroad races. Then you tie it all together by having stories per team, akin to the different stories per racing team in R4. All the while keeping the arcade mechanics and drifting the series is known for. Don’t change that at all. The way Burnout Paradise contexualized Burnout for an open world while keeping the things that made Burnout Burnout, do that but with Ridge Racer.
Or, TLDR back to what I said at the top, R4 meets Forza Horizon.

Seeing Shadowman on the PS store recently reminded me of my initial disappointment in this re-release (or whatever it is). I want a shiny new remake please, loved that game on original release (the level where you're hunting a serial killer in a dilapidated house still evokes strong memories now), I imagine it would look incredible (and creepy as fuck) if rebuilt now.

Heh, and the first person that liked my comment is one of the people that could literally leave me for dust in that game. Every. Single. Time.

Speaking of racing games, obligatory "F-Zero sequel when?" comment #42 That aside I also really liked the Pokémon Ranger games back in the day, might be interesting to see what a new entry could do now that the touch screen isn't a thing. We're probably due a new Mystery Dungeon game as well at some point. Oh, and a new Advance Wars game too, please. Hopefully the remakes did well enough to push that idea...

Freespace 2 (or just Freespace 3). Trucking around selling stuff in space can go do one.

I'd make a remake of Destruction Derby 2. What happened? Games like Dirt Showdown and Wreckfest are so slow and tame, it should be fast and arcadey and proper over the top. No holding back! Smashy and gritty and visceral, with burning oil all over the track and your car, and of course a thrash metal soundtrack. Words aren't going to cut it, just look at the first mass crash here and how the cars are shot away like pinballs to see what I mean. Or this for how racing should be like.

The next chapter in the MM series - something after ZX. Or a new X or classic Castlevania game. Straight action platformers seem to be hard to come by these days. Seems everyone is only interested in making metroidvanias
