This is why for me the 3DS versions are the definitive and won't be topped imo. I don't necessarily think putting a new lick of paint on the graphics really adds to a classic game. Agree with this with the exception that I'd like them to be released on Switch/a home console
The closest the Zelda series has come to realistic is Twilight Princess and it's also the one I least care about. It's not as though I don't like it, I just don't care about it. It doesn't stand out
That video just doesn't look anything like Zelda to me. Even if Nintendo did make a Zelda with that level of fidelity, I don't think it would look anything like that

If I had to guess, Miyamoto might be a good guy, but might be difficult to work for. He seems a bit like Hayao Miyazaki, who is a genius. But also a complete workaholic to the detriment of everything else in his life, and who expects the same out of the people who work for him. I've read that, but also coupled with the fact that he gets a bit pissy with any work of his that gets superseded by someone else. Or like most revered creators he's very controlling

This is why for me the 3DS versions are the definitive and won't be topped imo. I don't necessarily think putting a new lick of paint on the graphics really adds to a classic game. I was playing a bit of Shadow of the Colossus the other day, and thought yeah looks nicer, gameplay slightly tighter, but I'm not having anymore 'fun' than the original. But sure we're in this obsession with remastering games, making them look 60FPS 4k 8k etc etc etc. A lot of people like to imagine the games they played as children (or just when they were younger) looking much prettier than they actually were. Remasters try to scratch exactly that itch. I say "try" because nostalgia usually overpowers any improvements a remaster makes, and when it gets released those same people are sometimes disappointed because it doesn't look like their younger self imagined it being... Remasters do also serve the more practical function of making older games accessible to a new/wider audience, mind, but the rose-tinted glasses crew plays a big part in making them seem wanted. That's why I mentioned the 3DS Ocarina Of Time. It kept the environments of the original, alongside the mechanics, and I felt the charm was still there. It's immensely playable. To me if I played an Ocarina Of Time in a Horizon Forbidden West open world, I would be thoroughly disappointed.

Can't be arsed going through every page but I hope I'm not the only one who'd love to play a next-gen Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

Apparently Bandai Namco are remastering a Nintendo 3D action game. Bets on what it could be?

I agree, it looks shiny but not right. I'd love a properly well done modern OoT Remake as I never finished it but I'd like even more Wind Waker 2.

Metroid Prime trilogy without the wanky aiming in Corruption would be great. I just want to grab a pro controller and veg out on the couch.
I can always play through it on PC if I really wanted to, but M+K just feels wrong.

I loved the pointy aiming, Gamepad + Gyro is good though.

I'm pretty certain it was just a fun project for the artist who made them.
I agree if you remade it to that level of fidelity you would pretty much have to redesign the game as well.
The problem with a lot of remakes is that our mind filled in the blanks graphically. It's like when someone does a movie of a beloved book, if it doesn't tally with the world I imagined from reading the book, it grates.

I tried to play the original and its controls are just so OLD, but the game itself is so UMMMMMNNNNPPPHHH

Metroid prime's controls were always a bit, er, alternative.
I don't think it's exactly that they're 'old' as the basic controls for console FPS had been pretty much settled by that point, it's just that Nintendo decided to do it their own way.
iirc, they actually worked quite well for Nintendo's goal of making the FPS more accessible to non-fps players (eg: everyone in Japan, at that time). But they didn't go down so well with people who were used to regular fps controls.
I don't actually remember having any problems with them, but I think it took a little while to adjust.
If I could find a decent price on the Wii Metroid trilogy I'd grab that as I'd love to try it with motion controls.

I played through emulated MP1 recently using an Xbox controller and it was absolutely fine to control. Yeah it might not click as instantly as the typical modern FPS control scheme with ADS and all that stuff, but it still works well.
The digital version of the trilogy is available on the Wii U, but that involves owning a Wii U...

Never saw MP as an FPS anyway, it's just a first person Metroid and controls that way

Going by the bare ass basic GTA upgrade it'll be a pc port that will run at 60fps and be a full priced purchase as opposed to a next gen upgrade like everyone else does because Rockstar really need the money.

Yeah. It'll be at least another year or so before I can be arsed to replay it. All that hunting, and UFOs.

I have the absolute best memories of that game but reckon if I played it now it would be abysmally obtuse. Loved the Gamecube.
