So my Weber arrived this morning (very efficient service from BBQworld btw) and it's now sitting outside getting an initial burn off to burn off any paint or manufacturing residues etc , it's firing on Weber fuel atm, it's rather boring I have to say no smoke or anything (well apart from heat obviously).

This entire thread is about patience Fred my friend. And surely you, of all forumites, know about patience in terms of food.

Used flank steaks for the first time, what an easy cut of meat. Really easy to cook and stay juicy with a nice flavour.

Yep! Got some fresh corn with husk that I'm prepping. Other than that it will be smashed burgers, other veg and halloumi.

*bump*
Getting a bit fed up with my kettle bbq, which was bought to replace my last one when it eventually gave up the ghost. I could drive that one well, but I'm not really feeling this kettle one.
So.
I was swithering about getting a kamodo type one for next year. What's the general consensus of the forum bbqing & smokery society, is it worth getting one?
Or are they much and such and I should just learn to drive my newer one better?

Kamado all the way. Easiest way to get amazing results, easy to maintain and use as well.
Absolutely great bits of kit.

Just bought that egg bbq I was asking about a wee bit above today oddly enough.
Spring must be in the air! 🤣

You won't regret it. You'll want to use it all the time and resent when you can't.

I've got the Aldi Kamado. Can't quite convince my wife the Big Green egg is worth the expense.
Especially as mine already works so well.

I'll stick with my pretend BBQ, it's just so convenient. I'll keep an eye out though to see if Aldi or Lidl sell them.

Yup. I have the Aldi one too and it’s piss easy to use but everyone thinks I’m some sort of genius grill master.

DougsMine is also a knock-off ceramic egg. £130 for a small one which should be ok given my missus isn't a fan of meat-fests, so it's mostly for myself & vortex jnr (the carnivore-in-chief). Going to be used for pulled pork/brisket etc and the larger kettle one can be for burgers etc if there are guests.

My wife did not want another piece of BBQ equipment, so I bought a Lidls egg, it's hidden in the garage. She's also gone veggy... Mainly for charcoal flame grilled chicken, I'm missing that with other stuff.

Nice enough day today, so trying out the mini kamado for the first time.
Pork shoulder in and coming up to temp for collagen melting. It's held temperature well.
Tempted to pick up a Meater2 wifi probe- anyone got one & any thoughts?

Problem I have with meater probes is they don't really work in BBQs because it's a mini faraday cage! So the connection keeps cutting out... I have the original block from the Kickstarter though with 4 probes, so maybe new ones have better connection...
So I revert to my fairly inexpensive two probe wired one to a little unit that sits next to the BBQ. I can't check temps on my phone, but bbqing is a slow process so hardly needs up the minute info.
