Out of nowhere, or announced in May?

Is the DLC a minimap and HUD objective marker? Because I love that game but will never finish it because I just get lost. Aside from that it’s a brilliant boomer shooter.

Anyone around Manchester way, looks like it may finally be good priming weather at least on Friday and Saturday. That’s me building on Friday then, will try to put a Combat Patrol together.

I initially read this as an invitation for everyone around Manchester way to get together and prime their Combat Patrols together. I'm imagining with a BBQ in drakesmoke's back garden.... 

Random musing - somebody should do a commission service that just offers building, priming and magnetising for transport, or any combination of those.

Would be perfect for those of us that love painting but hate cleaning mould lines and waiting for elaborate climate prophecies before we can spray in our back yards.

That pretty much describes my “hobbying” in a nutshell.

Painting and actually using the things? Madness.

Love building.... when I'm in the mood

I’ve tried so hard over the years to enjoying painting, but I just can’t get to that point. I’ll really enjoy painting one model, finish it and briefly feel a sense of achievement…and then get hit by realisation there’s another 50 of the fuckers and so go do something fun instead, like punching myself in the balls.

I’ve landed on a sort of micro batching thing.

A squad of five for instance, like the Terminators I finished the other week, I’ll do one as a test/learning piece. I get the satisfaction of concentrating on one model and seeing a proven proof of concept in a reasonable time frame.

Then I’ll pair the other two and do them factory style.

I’ve also taken to breaking them up into tasks per day.

For instance day one, all weapons, insignias, metals, basically all base coat stuff on anything not armour. This will include highlighting it.

Day two, paint up the base colour (I do prime my marines in the relevant colour but it isn’t the same out of the can) any armour gradients, all panel lining.

Day three, first armour highlights to completion.

Day four, fine highlights, corrections and any other sundry bits.

I did tend to then do a day five of basing and varnishing and transfers etc.

This is how I am staying sane with it. I’ve also concluded that each unit of five will take probably at least ten days. My horde Tyranids I could knock out much faster, it was always weapons that took any time with those. I’m trialling doing all steps on a large batch save for varnish/base/transfers right now, so I’m going to probably do all of that as a job lot on two units and my captain this weekend.

I’m sure I’m trying to sell squigs to the Orks here of course.
