Yellow is tricky, best thing is to try and make a virtue of its' vices. Next time you might like to try starting from white, then Magos Purple contrast to get some Magenta tones into the recesses, then take advantage of yellow's natural transparency by building up slowly, it's probably going to take 3 or 4 thin layers, so do a batch of models if you can. I have to try this, I have some Plague Marines I'm wanting to be quite yellow. Pale pink primer/basecoat is also a good option

Just ordered a couple of big guys from Greebo Games; a Yeti and a Dwarf Deathroller. ![](https://www.greebo-games.com/7390-large_default/odin.jpg) ![](https://www.greebo-games.com/3832-large_default/juma-the-snow-king.jpg) I've not ordered third-party before. I don't suppose anyone knows where these sort of things use plastic glue or if it has to be super glue?

deekyfun If it's resin then superglue or epoxy I'm afraid. Those are some frickkin' awesome models.

Ah okay, thanks! Last time I had the superglue out it was very resistant to leaving the bottle, so time to grab some more!

Ah okay, thanks! Last time I had the superglue out it was very resistant to leaving the bottle, so time to grab some more! 2 part epoxy or Gorilla Glue will hold better than superglue for weighty parts. It's little more fiddly to apply and god help you if you get any on a sensitive area (of your body, not the mini), but it's way more resistant to shearing (mostly relevant if you travel for games. If they're just going to sit on a shelf and/or your own table then no worries)

They mention something called Greeblood, which I assume is a resin they use. I'll look at the Gorilla Glue option.

VMS is a great range of products. I use their photo-etch superglue and it's great.

Maybe it's just white paint that doesn't turn into chalky shite.

So it seems the US GW online store doesn’t ship for release date, it ships on release date. Booooo. Good job I got the main box through my local store and can pick it up tomorrow, but everything else will arrive a week or so later.

Got 2 HH boxes on the way. One will be here tomorrow, but the other one (along with 2 Rhinos and a Kratos and the Legion books) won't be here until Monday.
Not that I'll probably even crack the seal on any of it for a week or two.
Blood Angels and Alpha Legion for me, I think. Already got about half an unpainted Forgeworld Mechanicum army, but that's on hold now until at least the new book for them is out (probably longer).

No idea where mine is, haven't heard from the website I ordered from (not that I have a lack of things to paint right now). Where's good to order from for getting pre orders on time for future reference?

Goblin Gaming are always a good shout; I've used them a lot over the years and never been disappointed. Free postage when you spend £70, which isn't that bad considering how quickly you can spend that in this hobby!
I get most of my stuff from Alchemist's Workshop recently as they're a fraction cheaper than most (usually) and their threshold for free postage is only £40 - though you won't get anything they post for free until the Monday after release unless DHL are shit hot in your area.
Element Games are always very good with delivery, but tend to be one of the dearest third-party distributers (still a lot cheaper than buying direct from GW though!). I've ordered from Element before 3pm and received it next day on standard delivery quite a few times.
Wayland Games delivery time isn't too bad. Free postage for £20+ and they're well priced. Generally cheaper than Element; more on par with Goblin/Alchemist's. I buy a lot of hobby supplies from them as they have a huge stock of different paints and basing materials from a decent range of manufacturers.
Triple Helix Wargames *used* to be the very cheapest, but they've been blacklisted by GW for new releases as they were caught breaking down boxes and selling the parts on eBay under a different name. Shame really, as they were more than a few quid cheaper than everyone else if you were buying a few things at once. Delivery wasn't the fastest, though.

Thanks for the information! I like Element for the same reasons and use Wayland for the free postage. Hobby Workshop is where I've bought most of my models because I've found them cheapest but never pre-ordered before and seems as though they're a bit shit as I've not even had an email saying it's posted/delayed so who knows when that will arrive. Will have a look at the others though in future.

Just as an fyi, the new White Dwarf includes Zone Mortalis rules for Horus Heresy, which are smaller scale, infantry only, indoor skirmishes.

I am 5 chapters in to Horus Rising the first book of the Horus Heresy series.
It’s fucking brilliant!

I do seem to recall the first book being a bit of a high point.
I kinda gave up after 5 or 6 (maybe more now I think about it) as the quality dipped severely. No idea if picked up at all again though, as there are 50 odd in total now I think.
Not meaning to dampen your enthusiasm, just tempering expectations.

Horus Rising is great.
Others I have enjoyed a lot:
A Thousand Sons The First Heretic Betrayer (really, really good) Master of Mankind Shattered Legions False Gods
Generally speaking, the books penned by Dan Abnett, Graham McNeill and Aaron Dembski-Bowden are solid to great. The other authors (*squints at Gav Thorpe*) I am not quite so keen on

Thanks fellows.
I'm looking forward to getting stuck in to them, but good to know it isn't all brilliant stuff. I had heard Abnett was the daddy and will look out for the other guys too.
I think the final one has just been written by Abnett.
Knowing a little about the lore from years past, the first couple chapters were really confusing. I thought I had lost the ability to read a fiction book it's been that long...
