Latest 4 issues if Imperium arrived this morning \o/
Another cargo container, 5 Flayed Ones, 5 more intercessors and a Necron Technomage (or something).
Looks like we'll get some Adeptus Mechanicus minis in issue 21, which'll be nice. They look quite interesting to paint...

Baaaahhh Where's mine.
I've been asking the local to order extras to no avail so far. I hope it kicks in for the flayed ones
Also there are too many assault intercessors

I will do, but they sell out of the good stuff pretty fast, I was after more aggressors but they were long gone

Treated myself to the Death Guard battlebox: www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/death-guard-plaguefester-warband-2021I already have the Dark Imperium stuff, so another box of termies, a character, maybe another demon engine, plus the codex and a lot* of painting and I'll be able to play a game with them *Approximately 18,000% more painting than I achieved in 2020-2021

Print cost = 1/2 of a tesco mealdeal. I am having fun with this. Edit: This is uncured and just washed after printing so yeah, it'll only look better later.

Noice on the Necrons, and the 'nids look fine. I'd say I've seen pretty similar results with Oyumaru/resin molds, but that's just the easy basic geometry, and the weapons look quite a bit crisper in detail when printed.
All my progress has halted - waiting on a new desk to replace my repurposed bedroom TV unit. Be nice to have a proper setup that's about three times the worksurface I currently have with lots of nooks/trays to fill with stuff !

So all this time Iβve been thinning my paints with distilled water. It worked well enough, a solid consistent enough coat after a few applications, and brush strokes remaining I always put down to my unsteady hands. I finally used some proper airbrush medium (even though Iβm just regular brushing) and oh me oh my the difference is night and day. Less coats required, way smoother and consistent, no brush strokes visible. Can you recommend a product? A quick Google has all kinds of things included from thinners to mediums to cleaners to flow improvers

Start here: m.youtube.com/watch?v=BluWvC_nXikBasically mediums all do similar things, but with variations. GW Lahmian is the obvious expensive option, but MW uses that W&N Galleria stuff, or have a look at the basic mattes from Liquitex or Vallejo. If you want more: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuSFCiLvs1wThink VV covers the other stuff pretty well. Again, it boils down to trial, error, experience and preference, but the basic stuff as usual for matt/flat/less flow, gloss/shiny/runnier as a rule.

I've made the MM thinner - it's pretty good (and cheap!), although TBF I mainly stick with water unless I'm mixing paints or intentionally thinning into something like a glaze or wash...

Thanks for the replies! Always helpful to ask the hive mind and avoid buying three different bottles of goop, all of them inadequate/wrong

I'm working on them, got the haulers cut, cleaned and primed and waiting for the base coat to turn up tomorrow. Started on the cloth for the plague marines. Once I get something tabletop ready I'll post. It's taking ages because I have to brush prime atm

those purple boys look great.
Sorry, I don't have anything to contribute as I've never gotten into Warhammer proper, but I like to lurk and see everyone's little models. π

Baring vajazzling their bases, I'm calling these clank lads done. Meaning I've painted 107 minis this year. Not bad seeing as I didn't begin painting again until July.

Had a few weeks with no painting, then decided to do some more modern stuff that'll work in my Madeupistan game, but also for some zombie fun.
Need to paint up some scenery next so I can actually play a game or two, but my pile of opportunity has many other projects that are more tempting than painting small houses.

Ian Livingstone knighted in the New Year's honours list. Pleased for him, can't think of a single other person who did more to shape me into the geek that I am today. Co-founded Games Workshop who were the first to import Dungeons and Dragons into the UK, the Fighting Fantasy books, Warhammer, and then videogames like Tomb Raider. A Titan of the industry and well deserved.

Love the colour scheme. The how did you get the blue so bright? The blues are a combination of Army Painter's Ice Storm and Citadel's Temple Guard Blue, then two coats of Aethermatic Blue contrast paint. Really, it's all about the contrast. Both with all the yellow tones in the gold, but also with the dark tones on the blades. The photo was also taken in daylight, rather than artificial lighting.

Well, I've finally retired my poor little tv unit that's stood in as my workspace for the past 5 years. Upgraded to something much larger. Taken me all afternoon to build, but finally done. Still need to sort out where everything's going, but a step towards getting some progress made.

Nice! I recommend getting a cutting board to cover the top of that to protect against scalpel nicks and the inevitable Agrax Earthshade spillage. You can get an A3 size one for about a tenner from Amazon.

It only cost Β£60 despite the swanky look ! Thank goodness Amazon has lots of "dodgy" Chinese wholesalers on marketplace.
And the little brown box has my Tortuga delivery that finally arrived before the Ukraine goes under. If you want to make some biggun/chunky Astartes, I can definitely recommend.
