*buys powder based pigment for drybrushing*
*forgets to buy pigment fixer*
Do you have tamiya thinner? I think you can use that…

Or isopropyl/rubbing alcohol. Very small dabs works fine.

Space Marine 2 has inspired me to go back to the bugs. This Mawloc has been sitting primed for weeks. Intercessor for scale. Drama shot.

I’ve just had a quick read up on him. Sad news. I really was very very young when I got into second edition and jumped away before third, so sadly I don’t have many memories of his stuff. I am envious of you vets that got to be influenced by his like in the more characterful age of it all.

I went to Warhammer in Manchester today, was first in and the only customer there. Bit better stocked than it has been I had to say. I did ask (was it you nexus6) when Killteam pre-order day was - they said they genuinely didn’t know and would find out the Sunday evening before that Saturday. A lot of Killteam stuff went live on the Community site in the last couple of days, so I’m making an informal, no stakes bet that it’s 21st September for a release date of 5th October. I’m basing that from the recent info dump on the site with other websites saying an October release, coupled with a 2 week preorder period (I thought they were a month but the shop corrected me on that). Anyway I resisted paying GW prices on any models, got the purple I needed for my final three Nids and bought a new water cup (full kit wanker here) as mine has gone manky. I have to say the standard of painting and displays at that shop is fantastic, with the huge diorama of Nids vs Blood Angels in the window. This doesn’t get the scale across but here is a half decent Reddit post on it if you have never been: www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/s/TFK6J9clH9

Yes it was me - excited for this to be my first game box. Will keep my eyes firmly on the pre-order site around then.

I do wish it was sold a bit differently. It’d be class if it was the books, board, scenery, tokens etc but then it was bundled with two Teams of your choice. I’m not one hundred per cent on either of the bundled teams, although I do think the scenery looks amazing.
None of the kill teams appear to be visible on the WH website at present. Might be worth snapping a couple up if they are repackaged with a price increase.

Looks like the new rulebook has all the co-op / solo stuff in it too, so think I’ll probably just go for that and some updated data cards for some of my existing kill teams. Neither of the teams in the box are quite doing it for me for some reason. The Kroot ones are giving real Attack of the Clones vibes…

I'd completely forgotten about both killteams already tbh. Might be something to do with a couple of hundred pounds of historical stuff for a crusade. As for turf to fight over: Few details to touch up, transparent silicon to seal everything in situ, but it's not bad for a prototype...yup, found some A2 sized Asda whiteboards for a steal. I can build it bigger.

I don’t know if the Scions have a bit of a duff paint job even that’s not selling me on them. I can’t really afford it at the moment so the price will determine it. £120 FLGS or less and I may just bite for the sake of it.

Ugh, I caved and spent another 170 quatloos on Wayland. Kill Team: Scout Squad, Primaris Incursor/Infiltrator squad, Deathwatch Kill Team Cassius, Kayvaan Shrike, various paints and assorted other bits like fucking PIGMENT FIXER, and an Eldar Vyper on the assumption that there may finally be new Eldar models coming in the near future so I thought I'd get one while I still can.

Auspex has a vid up on Hivestorm including pricing. In the UK apparently RRP is £145. I think this will equate to around £125 at FLGS prices but of course it’ll be a crapshoot buying one.
It also looks to me judging from the pics that the Core Book in the box is a paperback with the one sold separately being a hard back, but I can’t find solid info on that.
The teams which I think I remarked had disappeared from the web store have all been repackaged with a predictable bit of a price increase. I’d expect the remaining old boxes in the wild to start to sell out now, but there’s then a thing of whether you will need unique tokens for them which may or may not be boxed with them.
I’m not sure if I’ll move on this. It looks like a really nice set and I do like that scenery. But I feel like I’d be buying it for two reasons:
1. FOMO - which I need to get a grip over 2. To have the scenery for 40K - which I never play. It’s also *more* stuff in the painting queue.
On the other hand if I did manage to get into this as a game system I’m set up with two teams - albeit with one that inspires me only to a minor extent.
Again if you could have bought a box with everything but the teams and had a bundle deal with two separate teams, I’d have probably picked it up with Novitiates and either a Chaos faction or the Kommandos without passing go and without collecting £200.
I could save the money, and continue to have enough models to paint realistically until next summer at a minimum, or could potentially spend that money on adding to my sisters collection or even looking at Legions Imperialis which I’ve always fancied.
Not sure what to do - and of course when it sells it out in 2 minutes flat the choice is likely taken out of my hands.

I think they've edited the WarCom page since 18:00 yesterday, as I'm 95% positive they mentioned that the separate book was a hardcover - I made a mental note that I'd probably buy it and pass the soft cover from the box on to my nephew. No mention of it now, though!
Definitely jumping on this, love me some Kill Team and looking forward to the new edition.

I’m kinda hoping the separate book isn’t hardcover tbh. I find them a pain in the arse to reference and lug about.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer soft covers for general use, but I find they end up in a really dog-eared state. Most of my well-used soft covers have loose pages falling out where the binding has gone over time.

Well, I won't be partaking in the new Kill Team but I look forward to seeing some nicely painted stuff from the rest of you!
I'm not getting much time to do any hobbying at the moment, although I did paint up 2 teeny tiny elephants over the weekend so can now field 2 full Carthaginian divisions in a game of Hail Caesar, and primed 120 Gauls (12 stands) ready for when the mood takes me again.
Most importantly, I set up a table in my new attic room and so can actually do a bit of solo gaming if I can be arsed - I've managed 1 game in the last 2 years so don't hold your breath!

I’m kinda hoping the separate book isn’t hardcover tbh. I find them a pain in the arse to reference and lug about. Old World is the best planned release they've done in forever. Couple hard backs for reference and main army listings. Then soft backs for little extras. Legions is a fucking nightmare for having the lists spread over multiple hardbacks with some unit listings and loads of fluff. It's just fucking irritating. We all knew what tanks were being added eventually FFS. Also D&D being all hardback now. Why's there no space for a small slim paper back that just gives some more fluff or whatnot. Old man shouting at clouds again.

Very old time Warhammer collector here... What is the gist of Kill Team? Is it like Necromunda?
I was looking at the latest edition of Necromunda recently as I was thinking of getting back into it to play with a friend. But it Kill Team is newer/better etc, maybe that's a way to go?

There's a Warhammer VR experience detailed in the new newsletter. There aren't any locations near me, but I'd be there in a shot

I was looking at the latest edition of Necromunda recently as I was thinking of getting back into it to play with a friend. But it Kill Team is newer/better etc, maybe that's a way to go? They're both 10 model skirmish games. They're both much more like 2nd edition rules. Where they differ is that Kill Team is geared more towards being a balanced pick up game you can play at tournaments. Necromunda has leant much more into being a narrative game to fuck around with, with your mates. Much more modelling your minis with bionic arms because someone ripped your gang leaders arm off so you then called a hit on their gang leader. Blood Bowl is in the middle these days. They literally mark teams as hard to win as (gnomes) that exist purely to have a laugh with your friends over. But you can make tournaments as well. fwiw all my favourite memories of gaming as a kid are stuff like original Necromunda where they worked almost like a structured RPG than anything else.

Hmm interesting. And what's the chatter over Kill Team pre-orders? Is it going to sell out instantly? Last game I bought was Space Hulk like 5+ years ago and that used to be a right PITA to get hold off between releases.

There'll be a second printing a few months from now. Scalpers and eBay are for the impatient.
