I bet it's even one of those dumb marines who forgot their helmet in the bunk.

I love this meme. My absolute favourite was on a post about one of the Speeder models which has the two heavy stubbers straddling the marine’s head BROTHER I CANNOT HEAR YOU Sir, you misremember "BROTHER, I CANNOT HEAR MY OWN PURGING OVER YOUR ROTORCANNONS"

Aha I now have 100 quid of birthday gift vouchers to spend. I'm immediately disappointed it's not this. And yes those are still the same fucking warp spider minis. But before white metal even.

The "scarabs" from Arcadian Elves 2 release on heroinfinite.com are pretty cool as an alternative. But I also like those old spiders. Almost all old aspect warrior models were pretty cool.

Oh they're all banging and I kinda hated the 4th ed resculpts for the most part so the Rogue Trader era aspect warriors are the ones I've stuck with. Except the new Banshees and Reapers.
I do wish they'd update the Wave Serpent to look like the actual Epic 40k one not just a minor upgrade sprue of the Falcon.

Oh Paul Sawyer collapsed at Salute this year and has had to retire from joint owner of Warlord Games.
If anyone remembers his reign in charge of White Dwarf as the mighty Fat Bloke.

Speed Freeks is quite fun, if you can overlook the fact that it's basically Fortnite but restricted to being in vehicles at all times. The vehicle painter uses all the current ones in the model paint range. Vehicle movement relative to camera needs some work before the full release though.
Been reading Mortarion: The Pale King, by David Annandale.
It's always interesting to see Pre-Heresy era stuff, and this is definitely that. Horus and Sanguinius have been sent to evaluate the particularly grim results of Mortarions' first real big job, which turned out more or less a complete hatchet job of an atrocity, and he is not happy to be judged by his brothers.
There is a horrible cyclical irony in the fact that the truly horrific society that Morty destroys so completely on Galaspar bears more than a passing resemblance to what the Imperium will eventually degrade into. His reasons for being so obsessive about needing to take down this particular target by himself won't be a surprise to anyone already familiar with the Death Guard.
Of course being a Death Guard focused book, Typhon and Garro make appearances, but they are little more than cameos at best; Garro gets to have a little moment of badassery when dropping through a ceiling, while Typhon gets a random encounter with a rogue psyker who speaks about five words that apparently convince him to change the course of his entire outlook on life immediately, for reasons unexplained, and so the seeds of his cuntery are sewn in the most baffling way possible.
Best bit of dialogue in the book:
"What are your terms?" Vecchiaz asked. ... "There are none." ... Another pause, a confused one this time. "I don't understand." ... "I spoke clearly." said Mortarion. "I will repeat myself. There are no terms." ... "But we wish to surrender." ... "You can't." ... "But we no longer wish to fight you." ... "That was never your choice. I came to destroy you. What you do in response to that is up to you. It is no concern of mine."

Sad news about White Scar Sawyer, always seemed to be the source of their popularity back in 3rd. I think I even have a letter reply from him as young Oss told him his dreadnought love could be argued as Terran veterans than adverse Chogorians. And I was bored/inspired on standby the other day, so a trip to B&Q later, I've started a thing. Battlefield in a box. Terrain case. Whatever the kids call them these days. Two picture frames, some hinges, webbing and catches, with some foamboard. Wanted a wee skirmish board/background for all this Trench Crusade stuff, and a useful prototype if I want to scale up. (or just an excuse to build trenches)

It's a pile of opportunity, not shame. I mean, I could've started one TC warband, but why do that when I could build five ?

Would be interested to know how big or small everybody else’s is, just to see if mine is anything to be worried about.

I don't think I ever managed to paint more than 30% of my stuff. Back when I still had time. Recently my nephews got hold of some of the models and now the count of intact painted models is rapidly declining. My Bloodthirster is in pieces and the axe arm is nowhere to be found.

Unopened unless stated: Combat Patrols: Space Wolves Blood Angels (old) x2 - have painted one squad of Intercessors from these and it’s all built and primed. Sisters (old) Sisters (new) Orks (old with dreadnought) Army of Faith Sisters battle force Assorted marine kits: Gladiator (nicked a small plate from this for the one I lost for an Impulsor from the BA set) Repulsor Outriders Gravis Captain Jump Intercessors Hellblasters Nids: 3xVon Ryan’s Leapers (built and primed - from a trial run of the new Combat Patrol mag) And this: Which is proving surprisingly arsey to paint. There are a lot more individual chitin plates than normal and a lot of them have spikes that are easily chipped. I think my Leviathan recipe doesn’t help this, as it uses glazes over contrast. I’ve taken an experimental step of finishing all the armour and then glossing it. Don’t know why I didn’t think of this earlier. Then there are so many individual claws on this one. My recipe for the red tinged claws is time consuming. Damn.

I rarely get beyond priming anything. Games still play the same way. For me the hobby is the dopamine hit of clicking buy and the zen of the painting when I get in the zone. There is no game. Don’t honestly know who I would play tbh and the painting leaves no time for learning rules or practising.

manfromdelmonteThe chaplain from Indomitus is one of my favourite ever models. I wish it were sold separately. I’d be selling that set in your shoes to fund something else, they are still sought after.

Well, I'm moved in to my new house, and after 1 week of doing all the normal new house stuff I finally got round to sorting out my painting space yesterday, so it's ready to go - might start getting some spare time again soon to do something with it before too long as well. It's a nice light room, and it was fun putting the paints into racks and pretending they'll stay there looking all neat and tidy instead of ending up scattered over my desk leaving me with 3 inches of space for my work laptop.
As for piles of opportunity / potential / shame... well, let's just say that for many years I have had an extremely ambitious set of projects bubbling away at any one time, and a complete lack of willpower to avoid buying shiny new things. So I have a new attic full of old stuff which I've sorted into never / unlikely / maybe / don't know in terms of how likely I'll get round to them. This collection takes up over half of the space in the attic, the rest is just random stuff from 20+ years of married life. Do I have a problem? Yes. Will I do anything about it? No.

OK nerds, when do you all reckon this shiny new Kill Team box will be up for pre-order and when will it release?
Played our first 'gmae' at the weekend with the Combat patrol minis and although it is the most basic thing possible we still had a blast. The lad had the dice roll combos in his head immediately, enjoyed the process and was taken with the characters too.

I’d say that it will release mid to late October and be up for preorder either this Saturday or more likely next. Just a gut feeling. They have to leave some time to release the Blood Angels codex and Combat Patrol etc, and I presume there will be some time to hype any Xmas battleforce sets built in (possible Guard rumoured prior to their proper launch next year).
