A shame to see a few people liked 3 but never finished it. It’s got a cracking ending.

MGS3 was my fave as well, aside from 5 had that actually been a finished game.

Link doesn't work. Nevermind though, it was just a troll post and not a review, unless you seriously believe Metal Gear Solid 4 is less interactive than Dragon's Lair. Fixed. Nah, was defo a legit review. Maybe a little exaggeration for effect, but I agree completely with the core complaint. Yeah, right. The worst game they ever played.
I've played many games such as the game in your avatar. It's objectively worse than Metal Gear Solid 4, it's still not the worst game I played.

I'm sure it's been mentioned but the camo menu nonsense needs a proper rework. Even with instant menu loadtimes (which the PS2 did not have) it would be tedious. Killed the game for me as any immersion was broken halfway through most areas or sooner

All the camouflage, injury and stamina stuff was just a complete faff. It’s why I never got on with it.

Yea I think the gameplay changes would make it alittle frustrating to do it in 'story order'. You going for PS1 mgs or twin snakes? PC port of PS1 version with lovely widescreen hacks running at stupid resolutions to really see that gourad shading in all its glory. I've never played Twin Snakes, is it worth it?

I actually don't like TS because of the goofy cutscenes. And the fact that the actors were completely phoning it in, for some reason.

Don't agree that they were phoning it in. If I recall David Hayter took a big paycut to rerecord his lines so they could rehire the original cast.

I liked it though there's a couple scenes that maybe go alittle far.. Def recommend it if you've not played it before though! The blocky PS1 environments add a grittyness to shadow Moses in some ways but the lack of detail in the characters faces is quite drastic once you've got used to the twin snakes version!

Mei Ling and Naomi in particular sounded like they were completely over it. And the new soundtrack was awful and completely out of place. But the main thing by far for me is the cringey over dramatic cutscenes. It's like what a child would think would make the original cooler
The whole game just missed the point IMO. The original was gritty and atmospheric, TTS had Snake riding a missile like a hoverboard to techno music.
It's still worth a look but I judge anyone who thinks it is better than the original pretty harshly

It compliments the original, and I'd sooner play TTS than the low poly shitty texture original any day, but yeah, there are a few changes that really didn't need to be made.

The game in my avatar cannot objectively be worse than Metal Gear. Subjectively, maybe. I've played Out Run for a frightening number of hours over the years on Arcade, C64, Spectrum, Amiga, Mega Drive, Saturn, Xbox, Dreamcast, PS4, and Switch. I've owned it for probably every system I've ever owned. I kind of enjoyed an hour or two of Metal Gear 1 but got bored of it before I finished it, got bored of 2, missed 3 altogether (though I've got vague memories of someone making me try it once for comedy value), and watched someone else play through 4, which was the most tedious experience of them all. There may be gameplay there, but it's drowning in a sea of unbearably pretentious waffle. Oh, I've got the 5th on the PS because I enjoyed the demo thing they put out. For an hour or so. Was only four quid so seemed rude not to, but whether I'll get around to playing it is another thing entirely.

Sega's arcade games of that period are incredibly shallow games that don't have any relevance beyond the tech that drives them, once the scalar tech was an evolutionary dead end it was just 80s nostalgia. Outrun just isn't worth bothering with there are scores of better arcade racers including it's own spin-off sequels.

We're side tracking a bit, but you seem to be judging 80's arcade games for being.... 80's arcade games. I don't find sprite-scaled racers 'irrelevant' in the slightest, and OutRun, as old as it is, is still one of the best. The sequels are brilliant, but they're their own thing, and of these 'dozens' of better arcade racers I'd agree to disagree. Sega Rally, Daytona, Ridge Racer? All brilliant, all very different beasts. The recent Horizon Chase Turbo is basically OutRun with polys and it reviewed pretty well, so obviously there are folk out there that agree with me. Space Harrier is another I've heard called a 'tech demo' or 'shallow', usually by people that can't complete more than two levels on a credit. I'd still rather play Super Hang-On than most current-gen motorbike games exactly because it's 'shallow' (I prefer easy to pick up). You can pick up the basics in second, but good luck on the Expert course. Metal Gear 1 simply isn't worth bothering with because there are dozens of better sneaking games, including its own sequels. See?

Was only 2 years out with this thread.
Original voice actors confirmed to be returning. No idea if that means they are just pulling the audio or re-recording.

Good question. I remember they had to redo audio for Twin Snakes as they lost the original audio so Hayter took a pay cut to pay for everyone.

Fully expect this thread to go as long as the Demon's Souls Remake thread across the road before it was confirmed. I'm trying to recall how long we had the Demon's Souls thread before the announcement. I think this thread is close though. So you should take a bow for that.

I'm ready to give MGS3 another go.
I only ever played the original 'vanilla' MGS3 with the shit camera angle. I enjoyed it but didn't love it like the other games in the series.

Is it just me being picky but there is something incredibly off about Snake's face in all the promo stuff. The bandana is creased...wrong. It's creasing like it's his skin, making it look like his head is melding with his bandana. It shouldnt crease vertically like that. It's annoying.
I'm not saying it could potentially stop me playing the game but it could potentially stop me playing the game.

That meant to say shouldn’t instead of should. It shouldn’t crease like that.
Exactly. A scowling bandana. Silly. Very silly.
