I AM STARTING THIS THREAD, OKAY?
Sounds like this might be in development. Either that or they are looking for some positive PR after eFootball's spectacular launch yesterday. Either way as Solid Snake's right hand bumboy, I am very excited by this development.
Fully expect this thread to go as long as the Demon's Souls Remake thread across the road before it was confirmed.

Hmm.
Hmmmmm.
On the one hand, a remake of MGS3 using the MGS5 engine would be amazing (Not that they've said that as such, I'm just imagining)
But on the other hand, do I trust Konami to not balls it up? Would the game lose something? Would it be filled with microtransactions? Would they fuck around with the story?
I'm intrigued, but any excitement is overshadowed by extreme caution.

MGS1 is the one more in need of a remake. Can only imagine it would go ahead if this does well and its a current remake of one of the best games in the series so of course it would.
I saw the footage Konami had of the MGS3 pachinko machine years ago and thought it would definitely be nice to have a modern remake. But then it would feel weird at this point involving MGS with anyone but Kojima, even for a remake. Dunno.

Snake Eaterrrrrrrrr
For some reason I never played much of this one, but the Bond-ish theme will always be stuck in my head.

I'm just waiting for Microsoft to hack in a 4k upres to the 360 version of the MGS Collection when playing on Series X

I'm surprised that MGS4 never got any kind of port anywhere. PS Now streaming or finding a working PS3 seems to be about the only way, I think PS3 emulation is still mostly garbage.

My main issue was the relentless and clunky menu-ing. Put me right off and I canned it shortly after the intro sequence

I binned off 3 for reasons I can't quite remember so I'd be happy with a remake. And a proper remake not some half arsed Alan Wake no HDR remake.

The regularly trotted out thing is that it's pretty much built around the architecture of TEH CELL so there's nothing that can be salvaged short of a ground up remake. I hear some clever bastards have got it mostly working via emulator, but I'd imagine you'll need some serious, serious hardware to actually run it.

It will be called eMGS3.
You get the intro chapter for free. The rest of the game is paid. Also stealth will only be available after launch.

Should say, the original release was a bit clunky, the top down camera didn't really suit the wider, more open environments, but the Subsistence version, with it's more conventional 3rd person camera was amazing.
It had the balance between cinematics and gameplay right too. Outside of the intro and outro the cut scenes were fairly short, and most of the radio chat was optional (and oddly, enjoyable enough for me to listen to most of it, some very weird conversations hidden in there.)
It had the best story of the lot, as it was refreshingly unknotty, without getting bogged down with details, with a gut punch of a twist.
Best jungle environment I'd seen in a game at the point too.

Metal Gear Solid 3 was my favourite so I'm not going to say no if this is true.
For any nay sayers, what is wrong with you? Seriously. This is a game in which you can make a viable tactic out of cutting off enemy supply lines leaving them starving and without ammunition, you can even tamper with their rations and leave them too busy with explosive diarrhea to worry about you.

It's pretty much the most self contained one, so it makes sense they are going for this one.
Hopefully it's expanded out to something akin to how Square expanded Midgar for FFVII Remake.

I’ll believe this when I see it. Either a complete fabrication or a 4K port of the HD collection I’m betting, sorry

I don't mind the idea of it being expanded out, as long as its not filled with collectathon busy work. If they add new stuff I hope it doesn't detract from the story either .

If you chucked modern style gameplay into those exact levels but remastered, it would be comically easy and about 2 hours long (17 hours of cutscenes aside). I'm all against any of the usual nonsense, but the levels will need to be opened up massively to accommodate how games have moved on since 2004. The jungle section of the Africa map in MGSV is a good template for what I mean.

I'd be fine with a mere porting of MGS3 HD (well, make that HD Collection), playing it through PS Now is all kinds of crappy, since there no longer are pressure sensitive controls. Would be more interested in remakes of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2.
