The final few episodes of The Clone Wars is some of the best Star Wars ever made IMO. I need to continue with Rebels.

That episode was absolute disgusting, dirty fan service and I loved it! I can't believe we got a Boba Fett cameo!

Just catching up now and completely baffled by the idea we had to sit through four episodes of pootling about and flashbacks for them to then flip the entire show into being a a completely different one with a better story and higher production values
Like if the plan was to make it excellent why do the shit parts?

I watch with subtitles, and it’s pretty clear from the extras dialogue (which you otherwise probably can’t hear) that the Deadwood guy isn’t dead.

I get the feeling the end of this season is going to be a catalyst for a lot of things, the first couple of episodes gave us why Boba Fett gives a shit and how evil the Pikes/Syndicate are. I think it would have been better paced if it had been linear time and then a jump to post Mando s2 rather than flashbacks in the Bacta tank.

Me and the boy were discussing this. FWIW we both really enjoyed the first four episodes, and really like the show as a whole, but as he went to bed last night he was like "that was great but can we please get more Boba Fett again?" It's very odd structurally. How come they couldn't even have split all the mando stuff up further and intermingled it more with the first four episodes? Dished out the screen time a bit more evenly?
I still really like it. Even if it's whoring itself out to some extremes of fan service. Fuck it. It's what I want tbh. Just wish it was better paced and I don't really think I'd have much of an issue with it as apart from that it's ticking all my filthy boxes.

Think the series will have a credits teaser trailer for Obi-Wan. Keep them fanboys happy.

Yeah great episode. Robert Rodriguez is directing the next episode so expect it to go back to looking like absolute shit again.

As much as I loved this episode (and I really did!), I did keep wondering what the setup is for the next (final) episode. Like others have already pointed out, wasn't this about Boba Fett? It's almost as if during filming they realised that it wasn't going anywhere and made up more Mando episodes on the fly.
Oh, and everyone should watch Clone Wars. Especially the later seasons are awesome. And then SW Rebels, which starts as a kids cartoon but turns dark(er) after the first season. Bad Batch is also highly recommended (after Clone Wars).

The way its going Obi-Wan will be in the last episode. Deep fake ghost Alec Guinness appears to Ahsoka and says 'remember that time about 25 years ago when we had adventures, and you cameo'd on one of the episodes?' /30 second teaser /roll credits.

It's almost as if during filming they realised that it wasn't going anywhere and made up more Mando episodes on the fly. It is pretty bizarre to devote, like nearly 30% of the episodes of a show to, uh, progressing the plot of a different show, with almost no reference to the "main" one. The was absolute foot-to-the-floor maximum fanservice on multiple levels. Post-RotJ Luke has been obsession with fans for like, 35+ years, and here he is, in his suprisingly decent CGI glory - ridiculously superior to Rogue One's sad attempt, I note. I understand it's a "deepfake" approach rather than essentially a CGI mask this time.
The "cliffhanger" as a lot of sites and so on have pointed out, obviously isn't - there's literally no way, in the long-term, Grogu can go Jedi, because he'd have ended up involved in the ST or at least mentioned. But freaky Mandalorian-with-Force Powers? Sure. And they carefully explained there have been Mandalorian Jedi in the previous episode so if he becomes one later, maybe with a Darksaber of his own... Teaming up with Ahsoka does seem likely in the longer term. But we're probably talking like, 2030 before dude can have his own show (because they'd need to advance the plot an extremely long way to even make him a "teenage" Yoda) unless there's a Future Trilogy which has Grogu as a major character (which might make sense - Rian Johnson was planning a Future Trilogy).
Some connections to the ST, too - particularly that the structure being built is the one we see being destroyed in flashback. So much for the lunatics who thought Disney would ignore 3 movies that made $3.5bn and will have been the "growing up" Star Wars for a bunch of kids (just like the PT).
Most upsetting thing the episode was blowing up Jennifer Beals of course. Heartbreaking. Obviously Cobb survives (I also had the subtitles on).
Cad Bane is shit in this just like in everything. Not only does he have a fucking stupid name even by Star Wars standards, he's profoundly non-threatening, and wins despite being an idiot solely due to plot armour, never due to doing anything smart or being amazing. The absolute worst kind of villain. He even looks dumb on top of everything else - just like his name is too "on the nose", so is his outfit.

Speak for yourself. I thought CB looked awesome. He looked like he always looked, didn't he? A rather non-threatening alien dressed as the villain in a 1930s cowboy serial. - They did manage to make him slightly gross I guess so that's something. I mean, I guess someone has to like it, they did it for a reason, but honestly it felt cheesier than the Vespas to me. And the character remains utterly reliant on plot armour.

He was based on Lee Van Cleef's character from the Good, The Bad and The Ugly. As an alien version of that, I think they did well and I think he looks good.

I think they all look great in this and Mandolorian but there’s a definite vibe to the way the characters who debuted in the animated series have in how they look. Like if you a character line up and got told to pick the cartoon characters you’d totally get it right no problem.

No idea. I've never set eyes on him before. Just thought he looked great. Ah that probably helps. He's been on Clone Wars a bit and also was in The Bad Bunch (possibly also Rebels? Not sure), and honestly I've had enough of him, but the first time he appeared I liked him better.

That's fair enough man. I've not seen any CW / BB stuff as I've always avoided the animated things. That and I detest the clone wars angle of SW...

I am actually quite shocked at: - how much I like Mando over Boba - how emotional some bits of this episode made me feel There is just a kind of physicality to Mando which is missing from Boba Fett. And given we only ever hear his voice, the way Pedro Pascal conveys so much is really surprising (and delightful!). I was actually disappointed when it got to the round table scene - and then chuffed they quickly brushed it aside and got on with more Mando stuff.
I don’t know who “Cad Bane” is, but they did an excellent job at making him seem like a horrible horrible bastard with just his looks and a few sentences. It is a bit strange that the “bike chase” scene (as well as the “mods” themselves) exists in the same series as this episode. They could be entirely different shows for the improvements in drama / acting / effects.

You keep calling him Cobb when it's clearly Raylan Givens after retirement. Sheriff Seth Bullock, surely. ;-)

Sheriff Seth Bullock, surely. ;-) No no, he distinctly calls himself a Marshall... The same role he also had in the last season of Fargo...

Did anyone else think Mark Hamill's voice acting was really bad ? Yeah it was really stilted. Massive improvement on the cgi though.

Great episode of Mandalorian. Will have to wait to see how it ties together, but this series has felt very disjointed, like it's only there to open up more stories and spin-offs which is a bit disappointing.

Anyone get the impression they sent Temuera off for an acting lesson hiatus while they padded the lore?
