I kind of hate that they're called Mods but dress like Hot Topic punks. I want cheap polyester suits and beatles hairdos.

Yeah they looked like punks riding what were clearly meant to be Vespas. They were meant to be lost souls, or rebels, yet I've never thought of Mods as being particularly lost or rebellious.
They'd have worked better as straight-up punks or rockers ie. a proper biker gang riding "space choppers", but there's already the evil biker gang who ride "space choppers", so they went with Vespas instead, yet left the characters as punks... Not particularly well thought through.

I thought the last episode was a lot better than the dumpster fire of EP3. It not looking like Sharkboy Vs Lavagirl helped. But again any hope of it rising above "ok" is ruined by the two main actors being shit.

They were meant to be lost souls, or rebels, yet I've never thought of Mods as being particularly lost or rebellious. I mean, Mods themselves (IRL) absolutely thought of themselves as lost souls or rebels, and society certainly regarded them as such. Just not the shouting, brick-throwing sort - but troublemakers, and against the establishment, absolutely. They were also politically and socially aligned more with progressive culture (at the time) than rockers, who tended, despite their more outwardly rebellious nature, to be more conservative, values-wise. So that seems a little unfair on RL Mods. I don't agree that they're really "punks" at all, character-wise here (there's a slight hint of it appearance-wise). There's no ill-directed rage, no messy-ness, there's no mohawks or similar "crazy hair". They're mostly neat, well-groomed, wearing well-made or at least tailored-looking closely-fitting clothes that you might see on Coruscant. The most punk thing there is the lead girl's jacket, but for example the white kid in the grey (seen in S3 a lot) is wearing basically a suit and tie, and looks like a nice boy with nice hair, and only weird storm-trooper armour-plate worn outside his sweater-vest looks at all rough. (Apparently Disney+ has some kind of anti-screenshot protection lol or I'd have added some). I kind of hate that they're called Mods but dress like Hot Topic punks. I want cheap polyester suits and beatles hairdos. I think there's been a bit of a collision between trying to make them look Mod-ish, but in a Star Wars way (like the white kid I mentioned) and trying to make them into "cyberpunks" (the Hot Topic side of things). I do agree that they should have picked a lane though.

Edit: and I still don't know why Boba wants revenge on Fortuna. As far as I can remember, he had nothing to do with Boba Fett's jetpack malfunction and him ending up in the Sarlacc pit. Maybe that will become clear in one of the remaining episodes? Perhaps something to do with the Pykes, the Nikto biker gang and the Tusken massacre? (I'm fully prepared to be disappointed though) Still enjoying it That is probably one for us comic book wankers. Basically, due to complications, Jabba put a contract on Boba for delivering Han late. Fortuna was disrespectful to Fett.

So Mando cameo confirmed, cool. 4 was the best episode by far. Would watch again.

I enjoyed that episode. I liked the stuff in the past that showed how they met and it's fun seeing Boba isn't all knowing and all powerful. The robot chase was a bit ott, but aside from that I enjoyed it all. Wookie is cool and I'm looking forwards to seeing who the crew are. My wife's a huge Star wars nerd and she's enjoying it.

Agree on four being the best episode so far. It hadn’t occurred to me until he was having the conversation but its taken three and half episodes before he even gave us any motivation for why he’s doing any of this.
I liked the Jim Henson bantha and puppet chef droids. Very original trilogy.

I think if this had been two maybe three feature length (60-80min) specials it would have helped the pacing a lot. Instead we barely make any progress in any individual episode then wait a week for very little to happen again.
They could even have timed it as Christmas day, New Years and one in between as an ‘event’

I like the Rat Catcher...maybe a spinoff series. TBF had as much character development in 5 mins as Fett in three episodes ...

I think what's helped in my case was I watched the first three episodes at the same time, so it felt okay. I did think that had I needed to wait a week between episodes then I might have thought bugger all happened in each.

I haven't read any SW comics since Dark Empire (I used to own the complete Marvel series of SW comics...). I've read the Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy of books (from 1998, still have them), which is an alternate take on what happened to Boba after the battle at the Sarlacc. It's quite different from this series.

It's quite different from this series. When Disney bought Star Wars they declared all of the Expanded Universe books non-canon "Legends". Only Disney approved new books are considered Canon or close to it now. Hence lots of things being very different to the various book series.

Yeah, I know. It's just that apart from the Mandalorian (and BoBF), I choose to reject everything that Disney has done to Star Wars that takes place after ROTJ Having read the Timothy Zahn books, those we so much better than episode 7, 8 and 9. At least we got Thrawn in SW Rebels.

He is. I'm kind of impressed with how they've managed to make him seem quite expressive, moreso than even Chewie, especially in the face, and I appreciated that even cash money and Jennifer Beals trying to cheer him up didn't stop him ripping that dude's arm off. Gotta keep it real, Wookie-style.

Ep 3 was bad, but honestly I didn't feel this was any better to be honest. At times it doesn't even feel like Star Wars - the banging techno playing on the mod workshop for example.
Plus the deadliest bounty hunter in the galaxy break into Jabba's palace by stealth and then noisily chases a mini-version of the robot from Saturday BBC1 primetime disaster Don't Scare the Hare around a kitchen, looking for all intents and purposes like Buster Bloodvessel struggling with a Roomba. And when exactly did Bib Fortuna "double cross" Boba? The two had no interaction up until this point? He wouldn't even know he'd gotten fat.
If I remember my Star Wars lore properly there is animosity between the Wookies and those lizard things which would explain why he took umbrage to them enjoying themselves. But that's never explained properly so the Wookie is just an arsehole.
And the great and feared Sarlaac pit? Yeah you can just wander in and out of it as much as you want.
Whole series has just been a disappointment.

I don’t think its ever mentioned but the Trandoshans enslaved the Wookies, right?
But no casual would know that so he’s just a bitter old drunk tearing limbs out of spite. Which still works for him as a character to be fair.

This is being set up quite well now, it's Disney so if things seem obvious then it's intentional. They lobbed some pretty hefty content there ready to be smacked out of the park.
How do you do spoilers for my speculation?

Thankyou! This is random speculation but if you haven't seen ep 4 yet then I'll use spoilers. The whole we got Slave 1 back certainly points to next weeks episode being off world and given at the end when he said 'I have loads of money just no muscle' as Fennec replied to him about hiring muscle Mando music started playing. So almost certain that means a trip to Mandalore. We'll likely see Mando but the muscle for hire will be Bo Katan and friends as we now know she is getting her own series. This is likely not going to be enough muscle so in the final episodes we will see him go on and continue to assemble his Scooby gang on his travels back.
So the whole Trandoshan and Krrsantan thing in my opinion is more than just fan service, I think it's done to set up a conflict between Krrsantan and the newly hired Trandoshan mercenary Bossk. It maybe more wishful thinking than anything but the further addition of Aurra Sing would not only make sense but mean he has assembled a pretty neat team of not fat assassins. Aurra Sing would also make sense to introduce because of the Ahsoka show.
Finally, the very final scene of the series is a slow zoom out that partially reveals a familiar wide brim hat worn by a certain, not dead, Cad Bane. Or not

Been really disappointed in this so far. I probably see it through because, but yeah… kinda just wished Bobba had died in the sarlaac pit and we were done with it. Star Wars as always veered in quality, when it’s good it’s amazing but when it’s bad it’s really bad.

My personal feeling is that star wars is best when it doesn't explain stuff too much. The OT was great at just throwing in references to 'the clone wars' but leaving it for your imagination to fill in the rest. Even OT Boba Fett, they didn't really explain anything other than he had a gruff voice and he was prone to disintegrating people, then they let your imagination fill in that he was this cool badass bounty hunter.
The prequels suffered from trying to explain all that stuff, which could never be as good as your imagination. I think this was pretty widely accepted after the prequels... but now the prequel generation are grown up, and everything has to be a MCU style content factory, so they have to go back and fill in all those bits in the name of producing more SW content for the 'franchise'.
Filoni is apparently mildly capable at that, but it's still usually gonna be a bit underwhelming or unnecessary. Hence the best recent SW stuff being the stuff where they've mostly just gone off and done something new and unrelated, with a fresh vision (Mando S1, TLJ, Rogue One (though I know that was kinda filling in the blanks, but it felt like its own thing). Maybe Obi-Wan won't be terrible.

It’s fine filling in a couple of blanks if they add to the overall universe. Too many of these things as absolutely nothing and drag out 2 minutes worth of entertainment to about 6 hours.

I"m repeating myself, but I feel like they cracked it with Mandalorian season 1 - they got to have their cake and eat it. They basically had Boba Fett, but they also had the freedom to do whatever they wanted with the character because it *technically* wasn't boba fett. Then they screwed it up by introducing actual boba fett, who they couldn't really do much with.
I mean, I guess they could have done a show about him being a bounty hunter... but they'd already done that.
