Went to look at the C3s today. Yep I want one of those. Suddenly going to be getting quite proactive with the decorating!

My subwoofer has died. No power, nothing. Tried the fuse/power supply, it ain't that. Couldn't see anything obvious on the board but something must have blown. Annoying, they are expensive.

Went to check out the Samsung s95d, the one with the matte screen. It's gorgeous! A brightly lit currys is also a great place to see that function in action...

If I was in the market right now that would be the TV that I’d be looking at, I think. The anti-glare would push me closer to that than the LGs. And I’d be more seriously in the market if they were bigger than 77”.

Upgraded to a Panasonic 4k player.
Picture quality is insane but looks like I need to get a more up to date cable for the soundbar.

I still use ps5 for discs but been meaning to get a dedicated player for a while. Sony UBP-X700. It was okay for what I paid for it which wasn't a lot thanks to offers and using my nectar points and so on. Picture was good but it had trouble reading too many discs. Would freeze after and hour or so and need a reboot and then no auto resume so would have to get back to the right place and so on. Could also be a bit loud with some discs. From what I've seen the PS5 and Series X are good but a dedicated player is the way to go. Used John Wick 4 for my quick test and could definitely see the improvement in picture.

I have a UBP X700, not had any issues with any discs I have tried with it (the manual Dolby on or off is annoying). I did have it die completely just after warranty expired though, but managed persuade Sony Centre to dofree repair anyway. Was trying to balance price and quality, and ahd just forked out a lot on the TV.

Went with the Panasonic DP-UB820 which had really good reviews. Yeah the one that costs a grand seems to be the best on the market but fuck that!

Finally after many years, I have an OLED TV got the LG G4. Just need to figure out how to sell the bundled sound bar... RRP £699 bonkers price. Not sure why it can't use same settings for every source, or why the picture options are different for the Disney+ app and iPlayer... Now what to watch to bask in the glory of pitch blacks and Dolby vision HDR !?!!

BBC and other live TV broadcasters e.g Sky use HLG HDR for all their UHD content including streaming. Lower/different HDR standard than HDR10 & Dolby Vision which is why your picture mode options are different. It still looks pretty good.

My wife hasn't noticed we have a new TV let alone that it is a step up in size. She said "just don't get a bigger TV", but I think I've managed it...

Got my first 4K LG OLED last year graduating from the 1080p league. Absolutely worth the grand or whatever it was. Massive step up. Still coo at the HDR.
Welcome to the club!

I was a Samsung fanboi forever I miss the slightly more vivid picture I feel Samsung has (even though I do always go with cinema modes), and I still have teensy regret I didn't get the matte Samsung flagship qd oled as I thought it looked awesome in store. (And the Samsung can do amibilight with an app...)

I want a matte OLED in 98". It doesn't exist and would cost an absolute fortune, but that's the dream.

So, the LG G4 is lovely, and bright, etc. but it's ruined subtitles... I'm a habitual subtitler, but they are just far too bright in this TV with the picture set to cinema/filmmaker mode...

That'll be the OLED bloom I guess...
Edit: advice seems to be to change subtitle settings in a browser for each of your services.

Richersounds seemed to have the Samsung Q990D soundbar for £979 (Belfast) with a £400 cashback offer from Samsung.
I've splurged as it seems a ridiculously good offer. I think it might have to be a mistake but I spoke to RS and whilst they have now taken it down my order did go through and they said they were only taking it down due to the popularity but that the cashback deal is legit...

Anyone had a TCL tv? Looking for a second screen for the kid’s lounge and they appear to be quite good value for a qled panel

Was round a friend's house and got roped in to setting up a new TCL TV for their kids down in the basement/den/playroom.
For the price range, I was quite taken aback with the snappy UI and picture quality to be honest, really great little TV.
Definitely considering one for our eldest when he needs one in his bedroom.
