Yet another vote for the Beam.
It's at the pricier end of the more budget soundbars, but worth the premium for the versatility the Sonos ecosystem brings with it. Great by itself, but you can add all sorts of stuff to the setup if you want to upgrade at a later date.
It's on offer a lot as well, regularly down at £350'ish instead of the £450-500 lots of places sell it at. Keep an eye out.

I managed to pick up a second hand second gen beam for £200 (edit:hmm, this seems ridiculously cheap, but I remember it being basically half price, was a while ago!) from Sevenoaks and yes it’s excellent for the price. I’m not sure there’s anything better for the money even at full price, and yeah you can add to it so easily.

I love my 5.1 but suspect I'll end up selling it (maybe keep the bookshelf speakers...) and getting a Beam and some Ones when I redo the living room. I think I'll find it difficult to integrate it all (likely to end up with the TV in the corner, so the fronts are problematic)

I think comparing soundbars is particularly difficult (online at least). Not only is comparing sound subjective, but you don't use all soundbars in the same way, particularly Sonos soundbars.
The reason I bought a Beam was because it's convenient. There's no faffing around turning the soundbar on/off, and Spotify integrates directly into it, so it's as much an 'always on' smart speaker as it is a soundbar.
There's no dedicated remote control necessary either. You can use your TV remote to control the volume, then adjust settings in the Sonos app... although Sonos completely ruined the app with an update last week. I guess it's still usable, but a lot of Sonos users have issues with the software on their home network... a potential risk to consider.
After buying a soundbar I also realised you don't want "big movie sound" for most content, and I find the Beam does a good job at all volumes, as well as allowing you to easily toggle loudness, voice enhancement, and night-time settings.
Anyway, I'm starting to sound like a Sonos salesman, but my point is that there's a lot of factors to consider, depending on whether you just want bigger sound for movies, better sound clarity, or an all-round solution for TV and music, like the Beam.
Don't fall into the trap of comparing on-paper specs and opting for the cheapest, because you're unlikely to end up with a good soundbar.

Hmm thanks. It'll be mostly used for movies and gaming (PS5) if suitable.

I've managed to somehow knacker the pass through via ARC from my TV to my AVR. Sound was dropping in and out every few seconds so tried to reset the sound settings and mow getting absolutely nothing from the receiver. Must be a handshake issue or something. Will faff about tomorrow but it's bloody annoying as the TV sound makes me want to claw my ears out.

Eventually righted itself when I powered down both and unplugged. Kind of didn't want to work though, there was a definite delay in it kicking in.

I'm not allowed to have speakers.
Mrs Hermit has grudgingly let me have a monitor in the living room but she doesn't want to hear it. While she admits that the picture on the Neo G8 is phenomenal, by far her favourite feature is that it doesn't have speakers. So while she's still up I use a mono earbud (so I'm not completely ignoring her) and then bust out the proper headset once she's gone to bed.

I don't think that'd be necessary for a PC set-up.

My 3.5 year old 65CX has died. No life at all, probably needs a new power board. Last time I ever buy a TV from somewhere that isn’t Richer Sounds or John Lewis.
To repair or get an S90C? Or do both and move the CX to the game room? So many decisions. All of which require money I don’t really have.

It's a cracking TV, sure you will be very happy with it - hope you got it from JL or RS

Id say try to get it repaired if you've got room for it. Warranty period be damned, that's not an acceptable lifespan for a TV.
You might have to go a bit Karen ("I KNOW MY RIGHTS!!!!11!!") to get anywhere though.

I got this new one from RS, 6 year guarantee, not making that mistake again. LG quoted me £509 to repair the CX. I got it from Currys in late 2020, going to hassle them to try get them to sort it, it was £1,800 less than 4 years ago. That will get moved to be my new game room TV if I can sort it, the S90C will become the new shiny living room toy. Very excited for it!

Moved in to a new house at the start of the year and so obviously my first task was to scope out whether a new TV was required. Happily the new tv room can accommodate a larger TV so I'm planning on shipping my CX48 to my study and going up to 65 inches. Probably wont buy anything for a few more months cos we need to decorate first but keen to keep an eye on sales etc.
Very happy with the LG OLED and I really like the user interface compared to my experiences with friends/family's Sony's and Samsung's. So I was thinking of just going for the C4, which I understand is fairly big upgrade over the C3 (which is extremely cheap though). I see the Sony A95 often comes out on top. Anyone got any experience or other recommendations? Room is very dark.
Yes this post is basically a look at me buying a new TV boast.

That's what this thread is for innit!
Go LG again imo. I'd be tempted with the cheaper 3 though. Is the 4 that much of an upgrade?

If the C3 is massively cheaper I'd go for that personally. RTINGS have the C4 pegged as slightly brighter and with better EOTF tracking, neither of which your average person will have a clue about without a side-by-side, and even then we're talking very fine margins.
Save yourself some cash.

I'm very happy with my Samsung S90C, it's a stunning set for both films and gaming - the interface is snappy, has all the usual apps, and I hardly ever need to go in the settings but when you do they are simple to navigate.
It seemed to fit all my needs and at the time of purchase, the price made it a no brainer - was cheaper than the LG alternatives and reviewed very well.
But I think, unless you are looking at them side by side the differences are going to be minor. Sony may come top on motion, Samsung for brightness, LG for lag - but then it seems to change year on year (though Sony's motion seems to always be favoured, but comes at a price premium).
Any of the latest crop will look amazing, and be a noticeable step up from the CX (the size will be a big boost too). The jump from the CX to C3 will be bigger than C3 to C4 too.
So I think go with whichever you can get for the best price, with a good guarantee, and don't worry about it too much. If you are happy with LG then stick with them.

Yeah I think I will - the price difference between C3 and 4 is pretty huge - over a grand.

That Samsung does look very nice. Although as I've been very happy with LG I may as well stick with them, as you say.
Basically will do a bit more research, do some real life comparisons and keep an eye on prices, but now I've made the choice to upgrade I'm itching to get on with it!

You're definitely doing the right thing by sticking with the TV with the best interface. A laggy, illogical UI can really ruin a TV, and makes you wonder what other poor design decisions the manufacturer has made. Plus the LG C Series has 4x HDMI 2.1 ports... still something absent on most models, and essential in my eyes.
I really like everything about my CX48 apart from the motion handling; Even the lowest motion smoothing setting creates image artefacts on fast moving objects and panning shots.
If the C4 offers better motion handling than the C3 then I'd get the C4, but in reality any differences will likely be trivial, and the C4 could be potentially worse in some areas, so I'd also be tempted by the C3.

4x HDMI 2.1 ports is pretty huge tbh.

All the other brands are finally including 4x HDMI 2.1 from next year.

I went C3 instead of C4 as it didn't seem to be a massive upgrade between the two for the huge price difference (which is probably even bigger now). I'm very happy with my decision, anyway.

According to stats and reviews, the S90C has wider colour range, but the C3 is better with lower quality content and has Dolby Vision - both have the same ports, almost identical lag.
The interface on the S90 is snappy, but I only use it to browse a row of my favourite streaming apps - if you use the built in tuner and other features I guess it becomes important - but if you just use for a few apps, then to display an HDMI port, I think the interfaces importance is blown up to be more of an issue that it is.
But don't want to come across as a Samsung fanboy, the LG range is class so again, I think it really comes down to what offers are available from reputable retailers in your area.
