I love this TV (S90C).
I don’t know if I calibrated it well or if it just wore itself in, but that first week I was getting a lot of color banding, black crush, low brightness. Now everything looks beautiful. Games, blu-rays, streaming services, HDR, SDR. 1080p looks like 4K, which my old Sony didn’t.

LG C3 here and I really need to dedicate some proper time to tweaking. Anything with HDR/DV looks decent enough, but it feels like there's just a bit more tinkering to do for anything without.
Haven't seen a bit of colour banding yet though, which was the main annoyance with my old set. Even something like just opening the Disney+ app was had gotten to a nails on a chalkboard level for me, so the upgrade was worth every penny. Any app that used a gradient colour just looked utterly shit on the old one. Any smoke or fog... Pretty much anything!

Yeah, that was a big thing for me. My X90E looked great in SDR, but HDR looked SO DIM. I understood then that it was so highlights could pop, but this new TV is bright in HDR and STILL pops in HDR. I used to hate SDR games on PS5, because they looked grey and dark, while Series X’s Auto HDR filled the color palette for both. Now both look almost (almost) indistinguishable from proper HDR.

Classy tech on YouTube is a good place to start. If it's anything like my QN90B it's worth looking at changing the colour space from Auto to custom, selecting BT.2020 and then switching back to Auto. This should then hold the BT.2020 setting. With DCI-P3 I couldn't get reds to look correct with most red cars in GT7 being orange. I also use BT.2020 for HDR FMM youtu.be/UP4WC7yzHKg?si=EZOAIs7PRVNxdvgwyoutu.be/ziSdu_a_t7w?si=qzpUyod9O1LyihCYThe latest FW on the QN90B fixed the gamma slider for HGIG, no idea if the S90C had the same issues and made improvements to GameMode overall. On HDR10+, it's my understanding that none of the current consoles support this but it does do something to the tone mapping of the TV. Also worth mentioning to set the HDR calibration correctly on the Xbox or PS5 or both if you have them. Another place you can look at is AVS forum for S90C owners but it's over 1000 pages. long. Some people have full calibration equipment so worth a look.

Looks like kids have thrown something at the TV and broken it I might be able to fit a 50inch to replace the current 49inch. I think id rather the extra two inches over an OLED, and am looking at the Samsung s90c. Seems like a recommend on here?

Although I'm a little confused about rather having the extra 2 inches over an OLED. The S90C is an OLED, it also only comes in 55, 65 & 77 inches and far as I'm aware...

I was mistaken it's the qn50c, qled. I guess maybe I do need to go 48 inches .

Actually, wife has suggested we see if 55 inches would work a little further forward and on a diagonal. Need 122.4cm of space!
Eyeing up the sony xr-55a95l now.

So finally happened. I’ve got a Sony Bravia oled and, probably as a result of my 14 month old dicking around with the remotes, I’ve got large dark patches on the screen which discolour whatever I’m watching. Tried a panel refresh but that unfortunately didn’t fix it.
It’s past warranty so it’s going to need a call to Sony. Know it’s going to cost me but was wondering if anyone has been through similar and knows what I can expect?

Phew, turns out John Lewis have a five-year guarantee as standard.

In that case it was definitely nothing to do with your 14 month old dicking around. No way…

So this is a dumb question, but I ask this due to this being my first OLED TV. I’ve used OLEDs before on the Vita, iPhone and Switch, but nothing of this size. Should I be playing games with HUD turned off? I recently did that for Dragon’s Dogma 2 and The Witcher III, and not gonna lie, it’s much more immersive, but it’s also harder to figure out when I can interact with things or people. That said, try as I may to deter game burn in, with my luck, it’ll be Samsung’s home page or the WWE logo during Raw that’ll burn into my TV.

I'm guessing the trick is to watch various content and not play the same game on repeat but I'm sure the Samsung OLED TVs does a pixel refresh when it's been off for a few hours after being on for sometime.
I'd have to check the avs forum to be sure.
It's the thought of burn in that will forever put me of getting OLED TV from LG or Samsung.

Yeah, just make sure the OLED care stuff is turned on and then use it l normally. Try not to leave it on a news ticker for 8hours a day and it’ll be fine.

Modern oled sets are far better in this regard. Other than literally leave your TV on a channel with a static ticker/logo 24/7 the main thing you could do 'wrong' is to turn it off at the mains.
Oleds now have cleanup programmes they run when the unit is on standby and if you turn it off at plug to save power these don't get a chance to do their thing.
I actually have my Sony TV on a plug with power monitoring and you can see it run it's cleanup when first put into standby before going truly dormant by looking at the energy usage graph.

Just got Samsung QN90C, Neo QLED thingy. 43in (that's all the space we have). £599.00. Bloody brilliant, especially as I can now appreciate my PS5 in all its glory. It is getting caught out with some blues and red shadings (TV programme's only). Assuming these types of TVs take some time to bed in/warm up with use?
Now, soundbars. Doing my fucking head in. No room for a multi speaker set up. I'm thinking about the Panasonic SoundSlayer. Currently £199.00 on Amazon. Any other ideas gratefully appreciated as always ✌️

Thank you. I'll take another look at settings. And check out Sonos ✌️ Could also try colour tone Warm 2, this does take a bit of adjusting to as the whites will appear more yellow it's but it's better for accuracy as it's usually closest to the optimal 6500K color temperature. Then Auto but you could also try custom colour and change it from REC709 to BT.2020. All individual values for colour hue will remain at the default setting. I had an issue with the B model that meant reds appeared orange. BT.2020 fixed that.

I can't remember the exact settings I use, but it is on Warm2 and then Filmmaker mode for HDR and most SDR (though sometimes switch to Movie mode) and Gaming mode for gaming.
Picture processing is all off, and the only thing I really touched was Colour which I notched down to 23 or 24 which I thought made things look more natural but still pop.
The only time I adjust it is a couple of shows on BBC and C4 seem to be overly saturated - Race Across the World being a big culprit - where I might dial the colour down a tad more.

Another vote for the Sonos Beam.
It doesn't have bluetooth though, so if you wanted to use it for music you'll need a Spotify sub or similar.
Other than that, it's a completely no-fuss one-stop solution for TV audio and music. Just make sure to set your TV sound to "pass-through" mode, so the soundbar receives a pure unprocessed Dolby signal.

Third for a beam. Team it up with a couple of ones (or whatever the latest variant is called) and you have surround sound or atmos (with the 2nd gen beam). Everything is wireless and compact, if space is an issue, and it all just works

I've been eyeing up the second gen Beam funnily enough. Good to hear some positive feedback.
Briefly tried out the LG sound bar that came with my TV, but it's fucking huge and I just couldn't justify having a subwoofer too.
