I'm currently waiting (and waiting) for a LG 55 CX which I got curtesy of the heads up in the "other forum" from Costco. Cost me £898.
Hopefully it will work once it gets here.

I'm contemplating ordering some up-firing Atmos speakers to sit on my fronts.

I'm hoping that my current amp (Onkyo NR 626) will just work with my CX when it comes. I know its a bit old, but hopefully will produce sounds as good as or better than my current setup. I've got it connected to Cambridge mini's (5.1)

I'm not sure (m)any places (that sound reputable) have them in stock anymore. I'm still waiting for a delivery date.

Atmos speakers are kind of like 7.1 if I understand correctly, but they fire upwards instead of just being "sort of half way between your seat and your tv"?

Not exactly. They pick out specific sounds rather than moving the L and R sounds around you. I have a 5.1 surround set-up, which is about to become 5.1.2 surround. The Atmos speakers are either "heights", so placed up high on the wall or in the ceiling, or "upfiring" and placed on top of the existing speakers, where they bounce the sound off the ceiling and onto the listening position, and they create the sensation of sound moving over you, like helicopters, gunfire, etc. They should provide a bit of a fuller sound stage.
In my case I'm placing them on my front speakers, but you could add them to the surrounds also.

The Samsung QLED QN95N Neo with mini LED backlights is supposed to have blacks that match the OLEDs now, also it has much better max brightness. All four HDMIs are 2.1 120hz too. Apparently the warmth of the OLED can still be preferable for some movies in a dark room, but the QLED neo is better for gaming and all other variables.

Derblington, thanks, I didn't know that. Do they have to be actually on top of your existing speakers or just "beside" them? I doubt my amp has that functionality, but as I was messing about with it yesterday and noted to my releif that its 4k enabled, it might have (it wont).

I read it wasn't as good with black details as you still had an element of bleeding and also true black was more grey. That said, I've read so much on bleedin 4K TV's I may be getting my TV's mixed up.

The blacks still aren't as good - blooming is present - and Samsung are releasing OLEDs soon too. But it's all getting better. I doubt I'll buy OLED again, as by the time I need to replace this one I'm expecting Samsung's newer tech to be as close as possible.

There's probably some wiggle room but they "should" be inline. There's some other details to consider, like room height, speaker height and ceiling angle (flat) to get the most of it all.

I've read and watched quite a lot reviews and most seem to think the blacks are comparable. But they all agree that for gaming the Neos are a step up due to the max brightness. The QN95 Neo is the flagship model but it has not been released in the US, they only have the QN90 which is not supposed to be as good. A lot of the reviews are based on the QN90. Who knows, I'm going to go to John Lewis to check them both out soon. I've always fancied an OLED (I still have a samsung KS8500 first gen QLED), but these new samsung Neos with the mini LEDs seem like the real deal.

I've seen quite a few reputable reviewer where they have compared the pros and cons against each, LG OLED vs Samsung Q95 Neo and the Samsung has come out on top overall

In all honestly, I think the better blacks and better brightness are sort of irrelevant outside of very specific situations. The QLEDs are black enough and the OLEDs are bright enough. Overall picture quality is a better thing to judge a purchase decision on, but you'll need to tweak the settings to figure that all out during a demo.

I'm not bad at getting a TV set up to a decent standard though so I'll be able to have a good mess around if they let me. But one thing I will say is that I have a bright living room and during the day the lack of brightness on the OLED could be an issue. This review nails the samsung www.techradar.com/uk/reviews/samsung-qn95a-neo-qled-4k-tvI've also seen someone on youtube comparing the two where the gaming picture looks clearly better on the Neo Really the only drawback is the lack of Dolby vision which I know is a big deal for some people. However if the Neo is not really any better its not worth it as the 55" is £500.00 more than the LG OLED.

Lack of brightness on an OLED isn't really a thing, unless you're watching really dark scenes (which will be dark on any set, obviously) in a super bright room, but that's more about the reflective surface than the actual picture itself. OLEDs really aren't "not bright" anymore. QLED are brighter, yes, but OLEDs are fine. HDTV Test have a video comparison of the QN95A and C1 OLED: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL9EqYA1APM

Yeah I've seen that video, the guy on their seems to be in love with OLED in every video I've seen him on. Also the picture he seems to be getting out of the Samsung differs to a lot of the other reviews I've seen. It looks blown out and too bright in most scenes, almost like he's set it that way. Who knows though...
If you are right about the OLED and its brightness (which you seem to know a lot about) I will pick up an OLED as they are considerably cheaper as well.
Cheers

I was hoping to get a 65 CX as a moving present to myself but as mentioned above nobody seems to have them in stock anymore.
When does the replacement model come out? Or is it the C14? Those are about £2300.

I hadn’t, but I’ve been looking for content. There’s very little on Netflix but D+ and Apple TV+ seem to have me covered.
