Seems to depend on the TV . Samsung tv's are fussy which cables are used. Sony and LG are fine with any old shite from Amazon. In my experience anyway.

Thanks yes, sorry I've only just seen your reply, a Premium Certified cable is essential for 4K 60fps and when you get your Premium certified cable you can use their App to scan the label and check it's authentic.
So HDMI's do vary and any old one may not do.

Doesn't work unfortunately. Still get the flickering on both PS5 and the 4k Player. So can rule ARC out as well. I've never been able to fix this in years. The only thing I ever got close, was when you could change the output on the ps4 to YUV which fixes it for that, but for 4k films + ps5 - you basically have to get lucky which is fucking shit considering the expense of the items, but trust me, if I could fix it, I'd fucking fix it! Sorry if already been mentioned, but have you tried a factory reset, and/or different firmwares for the TV (assuming you can)?

Yes, have reset them and tried, and updated them and tried. I think the telly is set to auto download. I wonder if simply resetting it again to the the defaults might help. Because I'm not 100% sure, thinking about it, whether it did it straight from the off. Worth it try it guess

Recently got an LG OLED48CX5LC - the largest I could fit into my flat - and it's basically the best. A significant upgrade from the cheap Panny I'd been using for the last six years. Not sure how I got by without HDR before now, tbh. Thanks for all the tips provided in this topic, chaps!

Yeah, I've tried different cables - went through all sorts and brands. It's only HDR specifically. It's fine in 4k. It's just the most annoying issue.

So the "shite from Amazon cable " wouldn't play nice with my 3090 . I tried the series x hdmi cable and all is well. I'm doing 4k/120 so maybe pushing my luck with the cheapo brands.

For fucks sake, have I got to change all my cables again then? I've already done it twice!
This is getting ridiculous

I tend to go for KabelDirekt, which seem decent in terms of build quality.

I've just had a read through your posts . So when you connect your stuff directly to the TV the hdr is fine ? I've not got an amp at present but I used the optical out on the TV to solve a few issues when I had a Pioneer amp a few years back. I suspect the tv wont pass through all the latest formats so that maybe a none starter for you.

I think my 18 month old TV is fucked. After the whole 'Xbox 1 X not doing 4k' kerfuffle, which still isn't sorted, it's now started to cut out. Only for a second, and only very, very occasionally, but this is how the Xbox started and it's doing it with every machine now. Also, very occasionally is fuck all use when I'm trying to play a bullet-hell.
Also the HDR on it is utter shit. It's way too dark, no matter how many times I calibrate it.
I think I've just picked an absolute bag of shit haven't I (JVC LT-43CA890)? I'll have to convince the Mrs it's perfect for the kids and upgrade. Eventually.

Yeah, they are wank. I bought my mother-in-law one (or similar) for christmas because her old one died. 42", 4K and while its fine for a pensioners living room, they it looked like shit compared to even the 1080p hisense set I have upstairs, even playing some 4K netflix.
I think JVC is literally just Currys own brand tesco value range now.

I can't remember when it's directly connected, but the whole thing is a bag of shit. That's my technical explanation anyway

I think the Mrs may be coming around to a slightly larger screen if we can wall mount it. I see LG do a 48 inch OLED, biggest con seems to be lack of hdmi 2.1. No idea how much of a difference that makes though.
Edit: Just seen they also do a version with 2.1. It's a bit more than our budget though. Budget sign off will be the next hurdle to overcome...

They're full spec HDMI on the CX and C1. You lose it if you drop to the A1 model. Go and look at them in person. The tiny bezel gives you a large screen but makes the tv itself seem smaller.
My mates 75" Samsung looks bigger than my 77" OLED in terms of presence in the room.

Yeah I think C1 is the way to go. 48 inch probably the perfect size for the room.
