I think it's a reference to one of Lex's comments on that Kotaku article.

You would imagine they've being planning this and the move to UE5 since the fucked up release of Cyberpunk and the issue of every game being a completely new iteration of the Red Engine with essentially no crossover. I think it’s cute someone imagining CDPR planning something “since the fucked-up release of Cyberpunk,” as if there’s been a calm discussion of steeple-handed Illuminati types, and not just a dumpster-fire of chaotic panic every day as they deal with things we’ll never even hear about on top of the things we do hear about.

Seven years ago today, The Witcher 3 came out - here's hoping CDPR sees fit to mark the anniversary with some kind of news regarding the current-gen version!
Failing that, we're either looking at Geoff Keighley's masturbatory extravaganza in mid-June, or... a random date.

Thanks for the update, Trowel 🏴. I'm disappointed* that we're looking at Q4, rather than Q3, but I guess it is what it is. As long as it doesn't come out within a week of God of War Ragnarok, as was the case with Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring, then - much like Gloria Gaynor - I will survive. * Also surprised CDPR are considering this window, given how busy October and November tend to be.

That's cool. I still haven't done the expansions, so I reckon that will be the time to get stuck back in.

Cool, this will give me time to start and complete 1 and 2.
Oh, who am I kidding. I will play those games beyond the first 3 hours some day, I'm sure I will.

Nice, if I ever finish elden right I might jump back in and see if I can pick up where I left off Bet you spend two hours getting hit a lot because you’re used to pressing R1 to attack! Last week I finished Blood & Wine and I am just about ready to leave Geralt in his vineyard for good. Just mopping up the last few side quests. Will the new DLC be given to existing owners though? If so, I’d better keep the game installed.

That's definitely going to be an issue for me! Perhaps they'll add new control schemes (or remappable controls) to the new edition - one can dream.
I'm pretty certain it will, based upon what CDPR said at the time the Netflix DLC was announced.

Which raises an interesting* point: assuming there will be a physical version of current-gen Witcher 3, how much will it cost, given that the update will be free for anyone who owns the game on PC, PS4, and Xbox One?
* Interesting to a dork like me, anyway!

Having never played the original two games, would be it be good to have remakes of them? I didn’t make it past the tutorial for Witcher 2 because I literally couldn’t pass the tutorial, somehow really confused by it.

The tutorial of Witcher 2 is the hardest part of the game - honestly, it's ridiculous. Fantastic game after that though!

The first game would probably benefit from a full remake rather than a remaster. Even at the time it looked pretty dated. TW2 still looks pretty nice (imo) with everything cranked up to 11 on PC, so maybe just a quick lick of paint for that.
Has there actually been anything new announced? Missed both streams but haven't seen any noteworthy news.

dfunkedNo actual news, insofar as I'm aware, but I'd pretty much pinned all my hopes on Wednesday's stream even before it was announced! I'd love to have a Mass Effect: Legendary Edition-style compilation of the first three Witcher games. As you say, the first one would probably need to be remade, while the second could just be remastered; the third one only needs the current-gen bells and whistles to be added, then they'd be good to go. Sadly, I don't think such a project has ever been mooted by CDPR.
