Nilf rule the north, world saved, empress. To me in this world the north are basically a bunch of ignorant racists. Nilf while not perfect seem a hell of a lot more enlightened.

Ah, okay. I ended up in the opposite scenario: Nilfgaard is defeated, Ciri gets Geralt to tell her father that she's dead, and becomes a witcher.

I didn't have much problem as I didn't actually fight him. Of all the outcomes to that story none felt particularly good, which I suppose is very on brand, but I found it very hard to sympathise with they princess
Agreed - even the "good" ending, in which Anarietta and Syanna both live, seemed pretty poor to me. (Especially so as it hinges upon Geralt reading enough of their governess' diary to be able to trot out some trite anecdotes about their shared childhood, and that proves enough to change Syanna from would-be fratricide to aggrieved elder sibling! He may as well have said, "Forgiveness is good, 'mkay?" and had done with it.)

I had to reload the save to get that "best" ending as i did everything right except the end when a single choice in conversation changed the outcome.
Tw3 with expansions was such an adventure. One day i will replay it again.

How much of an impact do your answers to the questions of that general when you first get to Vizima impact the story?
I had absolutely no idea what he was on about so generally tried to choose answers that didn't sound like I'd killed someone. Hopefully I didn't pick any 'bad' options. I answered something about Triss and Yennefer brought her up and was a bit grumpy when I met her. Don't know if it's because of that. Haven't met Triss yet but I prefer Yennefer
Another question, what do people do about inventory management in this, specifically all the crafting/alchemy ingredients/junk? I've got so much now that they're occupying a fair bit of my carry capacity but I've no idea if anything might be useful down the line. Just dump it all in the stash and return to it if I need to make something?

Yeah I usually go to the chest at the Rosemary & Thyme, then you've got all the shopping in Novigrad a short jog away.
I store crafting materials and Witcher gear that can be upgraded later in the game (when I'm at the required level and have all necessary upgrade diagrams).
I've not played it recently, but I thought alchemy ingredients weighed nothing, after a patch some years ago. Or am I misremembering that? I think I just keep alchemy stuff on Geralt, but rarely ever bother with it.

Aunt AlisonI think that part of the game is about simulating a save file from The Witcher 2. From what (little) I know, you've given the 'good' answers by telling the general that certain NPCs survived the previous game.

Yeah, that is what I thought so I tried to answer along those lines. Got a sneery response to one about a 'slayer of monsters working with a slayer of men' but the general was a bit of a prick so the 'slayer of men' was probably a very nice man that I had a great time working with doing good things

Had a quick looky up and I might have buggered up the second part here as I probably said I saved Triss instead of Saskia. Doesn't sound like any of the choices make a huge difference anyway Spoilers for Witcher 2 I guess
Did you go with Roche or Iorveth? This has a small effect on a conversation choice during Get Junior, when you visit Roche's camp for the first time.
Did you save Triss Merigold or Anaïs La Valette? (If chose Roche Path) Did you save Triss Merigold or Saskia? (If chose Iorveth Path) Note: Triss lives no matter whether you saved her or not. By choosing Roche's path, Saskia will not be cursed but Geralt will not know Saskia's true form, Triss is then saved by Letho. By choosing Iorveth's path the "optimal" choice is straight forward, saving Saskia, because Triss lives anyway.
Ulythium What is it you didn't like about it? Just the combat?

Aunt AlisonI liked the game overall, but the combat was the one part I actively disliked - I found it to be clunky and simplistic compared to every other melee-focused game I've played, both before and since. Also, the PS5 version was pretty buggy when I played, although I think it has been improved with a patch in the meantime.

It does seem quite simple but I'm enjoying all the prep (surprisingly) and I'm here for the story and characters mainly anyway. I'm playing it on hard (not the highest difficulty) so I've died a couple of times. The finishers look cool
Played a bit of Fallout NV the other day and after Cyberpunk (still playing) and this, I'm not sure I can take Bethesda RPGs seriously anymore. It just felt so soulless

Haha. That's random. I assume testing of it showed it to be too tedious so they cut it. Cause I can't see how it can be fun?
