Oh btw, has anyone else found out that you can almost one shot Salazar with a particularly shiny object? It makes sense if you consider the side quest before you face him.

Really helped me there as I was on my arse with ammo and healing items by that point. I could probably have got through without it but it gave me a nice buffer so I could pick everything in the area up without having to just use it again straight away.

I haven't used an RPG yet, the jump from 30,000 in the OG to 85,000 was too rich for blood. So it sounds like the difficulty affects the economy? I started on Hardcore (a mistake) and the RPG is something like 160,000. I’m somewhere on the island, my play through has been very slow! And have ignored the game a while. I’ve really lamented a lot of the stuff that was cut or replaced from the original though - though I guess there’s still a chance it will come up on the island… I’m doubting that though. |

No IT won't. I mean obviously everyone has personal opinions but I don't really lament the stuff that was cut out because honestly I didn't really miss a lot of the stuff that was removed as most if not all the stuff from the OG is in the game, a tiny amount of stuff is taken out and it feel a better game for it from a plot POV and how places and certain situations connect. If you don't like it the original still exists, they at least gave you that choice unlike Rockstar.

It took me just under 9 hours to arrive at the castle last night( there's been an awful lot of rose smelling going on!)
Glad I made a hard save at the start of chapter 7 as I made the foolish mistake of trading up the rifle . Attempting the ballista section sans scope was a frickin nightmare.
I'll revert an spend some pts on the og rifle when I get back on tonight.
Great game.

Then you can put the scope on the Stingray rifle. |

Ah right. I've nearly fully upgraded the OG one. I'll have a shufty at the stats and try and decide in advance before spunking yet more money up the wall for no reason.

The bolt action rifle's exclusive upgrade looks a bit tastier, so I'm tempted to pick that up again and use an upgrade ticket on it.
I'm almost at the point where I can start upgrading other guns in the same archetype instead of having to sell one to be able to afford the othe.

I just saw a tweet of some guy wrecking fools very stylishly in the castle with a shotgun that you only get if you have the deluxe edition or higher and the reload animation is fucking sick, it's copied straight from Terminator 2.

I have the deluxe edition but I never tried the weapons. I didn't want a chance that I was over powered, even though I am not sure how the guns play.
I will save those weapons for a second playthrough.

So those deluxe upgrade tickets, can you tell what it actually does to each weapon? Yes it unlocks the exclusive upgrade for each weapon without needing to upgrade every option to max. There should be an option at the bottom for each gun on the upgrade setting that shows you what the exclusive upgrade is but it only appears at a certain point in the game. |

Finished the game this evening. That was rather fucking good, Capcom didn't skimp on this remake at all. All in, took me about 23hrs....I play slowly.
Gonna be difficult to pick a fav between this and the Dead Space Remake. I love all the locations in RE4 and the boss fights, but the combat is much tighter and satisfying in DS.
Wouldn't surprise me if they both become my number 1 and 2 games of the year.
