Ahh, so the Mercs mode addition is also a patch that fixes the PS5 image quality issues but bizarrely makes the Xbox image quality worse. Oh and they still haven't fixed the deadzone issue on Xbox.

Pah! Revelations 2 was miles better than 5.

I'm not even commenting, except to say that is not the order I would place them.
By a long shot.
Revelations 2 at the end? The person that wrote that has no soul.
And he's a twat.

How rough would Resident Evil 0 and 1 be for someone playing them for the first time today (compared to, say, the original Mass Effect)?

You guys just reminded me that I still have Revelations 2 on my Xbox to play. May well start that tonight.

The Mercenaries mode is fun, the different characters have different equipment and some kind of super move and it gets increasingly more chaotic as time goes on. Even playing as Luis, the music slightly changes to add some Spanish guitar making his own version of the theme specific to him. Dunno if it will be the same for Krauser and Hunk

Mass Effect would be easier to get into simply because it's a third-person shooter, but if you have the patience to get a handle on what is now a rather unusual control/camera setup (and aren't expecting a third-person shooter) the REmake is entirely playable in both senses of the word. And it's fantastic, which also helps.

Thanks, chaps.
I mentioned Mass Effect because that's probably the oldest game I own, and I found it very janky but perfectly playable; that said, third-person shooters are pretty much my gaming bread and butter, whereas OG Resi would be uncharted territory.
I'm tempted, though. Sorely tempted.

It’s worth giving them a go. I played re:0 last year and it’s a pain but I was in a very forgiving mood. If you can get used to it there’s some cool stuff there. The background music is awesome in some areas as well.

Great news, the xbox controller dead zone issues were patched with the Merceneries update. Feels much more responsive now. I was going to save a second play through but I might just jump straight back in now

Resi 1 Remake is still brilliant. The GC was the first Resi game I ever played and it made me import Resi 4 from USA.

I remember being blown away the first time I saw the trailer for the Resi 1 Remake. The lighting really set it apart from the original.
I need to replay it again.

Has anyone who has played the mercenaries mode find that when they jump back into the campaign, they play it differently.?
Instead of taking it cautiously now, I am finding I am running about like Rambo without a care in the world. Probably doesn't help that I'm in new game plus so my guns are all powered up.

Haven't tried it yet, but it sounds like it's a lot easier than expected. People are getting S rank on all three stages first go, despite struggling with the difficulty on standard.
Its an easier way to get the hand cannon I suppose...

Yeah I got a couple of S ranks on 1st try with Krauser.
Although it looks like the highest rank is S++

Ugh... Updated it yesterday while I was playing FH5. Popped the disc back in this morning and it decides it needs to install a few GB from the disc for some reason, then prompts to update the game when I launch it... 44GB downloading. Don't you just love modern gaming...
Definitely wish I'd got this one digi instead of physical. It seems like it'd be the perfect game to dip into between other games, especially with mercenaries.

Is this the biggest RE game? I've been taking it slow, trying to do most of the side missions but not all, I'm just at Chapter 14 and think there's two more to go. Kind of glad as I don't want it to end.
Think I might actually go through it again once done, not something I usually do due to backlog but it's so good!

I think 6 is longer, but this is the longest good RE game. Definitely go for another playthrough. It's fantastic fun with upgraded guns!

Ah, skipped 6 because of, well, you know.
Will give it a go, are there infinite ammo options available?

Yeah but really hard to unlock. Except the RPG which you can buy and turns it into a five hour game!

The handcannon has an infinite ammo unlock as well, and is now fairly easy to get (managed S rank on my second go of village and first go of the other stages) Previously you'd need to finish the game on a harder difficulty to get it, but now you get it after less than an hour of play. I need to do a load of sidequests to unlock infinite ammo unfortunately

Took me around 23 hrs to complete my 1st playthrough, taking it slowly. Definitely one of the longest RE campaigns for sure. I don't count RE6 as that is about 5 campaigns, and only 1 decent one about 6 hrs long.

Is the RE 1 remake on Psn I wonder..I played that as a young lad when it first came out, and I remember being fascinated by any coverage of it in magazines..probably kicked off my love of concept art and character design

I've got RE1 remake on PS4 in my library, along with RE0. It's available.

He's an absolute arse if you don't have a decent amount of magnum or rifle ammo. It's comically easy with the handcannon, though. Started a third playthrough a couple of hours ago and already past the three headed statue (so on to chapter 10 I think) Had a good few under 10 minute chapters, but arsed up a few.
