I am getting my arse kicked in the very first village section, I can't quite remember how to play. Am I meant to be running away from the enemies or standing my ground? Are you supposed to clear the area or just escape to the next section?
The game looks incredible, have we had anything from Capcom yet that is purely just next gen?

Run! after a while they all clear out when the bell rings. I went for this in the end and am glad I did. Had the aiming sussed by chapter 2 and it's been good fun so far. Looks great, even if they only made 3 character models for all the not-zombies.

I just ran around in a big loop taking out enemies occasionally. After a certain amount of time that section just ends.
Can be worth exploring the houses too, but I just did that later on when I didn't have the stress of murderous villagers to deal with. It's definitely a trial by fire, and there isn't anything as hard as that for a long time afterwards. Came very close to dying there on this playthrough.

Bloody hell of course.
Thank you, will crack on later when I can get the 4 year out of the living room.
They like going to bed early, right?

Just saw someone's completion time was 6 hours, is it really that short?

Just saw someone's completion time was 6 hours, is it really that short? Not for a normal playthrough, but there's an achievement for getting 8hrs and under which is in line with the original if you're just running away from everything.

Also, someone on the dev team really loves From Soft games with that heavy door open animation.

I think the original took me ages, like 15 hours? It was the first RE I never replayed due to the longer playtime and the start of the descent into longer playtime games.

It's definitely harder than the original. That, and I suck and haven't got the wii aiming.
Just arrived at the canyon and saved it.

12ish would be perfect for me, 6 sounds more like they know what they are doing, which I most certainly don't.
Careful quaddy, that sounds like you could fall down it;)

Hah, I did in fact have a razz through the area first after saving to see what it was going to be like. Yeah, didn't end well

Only way I could possibly do this in 6hrs is with the infinite ammo unlocks.
Guessing 5 and 6 will get remakes?
Would also like them to try and do this with Dead Rising.

I have absolutely no memory of most of this despite playing it on at least two consoles. It's great but some parts needed Dead Spacing bad... catapult section 🙄

This is phenomenal, I‘ve only ever played it once before, on the Wii. Is there a game where weapons feel better, or with better hit feedback? I doubt it.
Looks incredible, too.

Yeah, I've had to drag myself off this as I would play it all day. This is seriously legit, the cabin defense setpiece is still some of the best action in video games. I've just got to the castle and my brain is remembering how many setpieces there are to come.

Grabbed the pc version from cd keys and the difference in control between that and the Xbox version on a controller is absolutely crazy. The deadzone is still a bit too big but it's like playing a completely different game.

Has anyone fiddled with the aiming to make it less shit and if so what settings? Loving this so far but I'm whiffing a lot of shots because Leon seemingly has arms made of lead.

Yeah, got it pretty much perfect on PS5, on both the Max Camera Speed and Camera Acceleration subsetting of "When Aiming" I got them both on the bar to the left of the halfway mark and I've moved them just one bit to the right. Feels pretty responsive after that. Make sure both the Normal Gameplay camera speeds are on the one bar to the right of halfway mark.

For someone who started as a cop, survived though a zombie infested city, joined the secret service, went through grueling training, his hands don't half drift around when he's trying to shoot.

Just walked past a certain open area I'm expecting to bump into a big boi in later. Shitting it.
Shooting gallery is class. I was worried it was going to end up changed to be super duper cereal but it's unapologetically still Resident Evil 4 and all the better for it.

Decided this was as good a time as any to start the original RE4 for the first time. Hey, this game's pretty good!

I think I'm pretty much up to where you are solid and loving it so far, the game looks amazing. That pirate themed shooting gallery was great fun and part of the reason I love RE4, it's just so completely left-field compared to the grisly, grimy horror found in the rest of the game. I love that the merchant still has his quirky nature too, he's a strange comfort in such a hostile environment.

Yeah, I love how close they've stayed to the original at times with stuff like the shooting gallery. Up to the castle now and just bought my old favourite, the broken butterfly. Time to spend the rest of the game stingily conserving ammo for special occasions.
Ashley seems to make a really unnecessary amount of noise in this, and is still annoying as shit as an NPC.

I bought the broken butterfly knowing full well I will not use it because I need to save it "for when I really need it". That time will never come.

I've been putting my pesetas into buying the rifle, upgrading the starter shotgun and keeping the combat knife in tip-top condition. I'm waiting to get the Red9 handgun before I upgrade one of those class of guns, whenever that will be.

You can get the red 9 when you open up traversal on the lake. It's on the shipwreck in the middle.

Ahh man, the water room in the castle is still just as horrible and stressful.
