I'm with him. I didn't mind it one bit on Xbox. Weird how it apparently is an issue with the controller. It's not so much that it's an issue with the controller it's the lack of an option to refine the deadzone. It removes any ability to fine tune movement because you have to push the stick so far to get it to do anything. It's lazy programming and the issue is still there on ps5 just not as prevalent. youtu.be/HGz-2fnhiKQThat explains it pretty well.

Kicking myself for ordering the Xbox version now... Didn't really bother me in the demo mind you, and thankfully I never played the PS5 demo.
Oh well. Installed and ready to go... Roll on 3pm!

I think he's probably at work. I won't be able to roundhouse any fools until after 8pm.

Aye, disc copy arrived this morning and is sitting in the drive taunting me now. Started work early today by coincidence at least. /edit All aboard the hype train... Choo Choo

Waiting for mine to hopefully drop through the door today.
Do you remember when posties used to wake you up with deliveries?
Good times.

Really hoping the delivery driver doesn't hide this under my door mat, like last time.

/looks at RE4
/looks at backlog growling menacingly in the corner
Yikes. I'll wait. Although I've seen some gameplay etc online now and whilst I'm still not a massive fan of the more ott elements, it DOES look fucking good and I'd be mental to deny that. I'll leave it til I've killed some of this backlog and when there's a bit of a drought later in the year. It's getting too light for RE games anyway. I'll save it for Autumn.
But yes. It looks very good.

I put it on the hardcore mode (which it recommends to RE4 veterans) and it’s not too hard. The enemies being so much faster, tougher and more numerous seems to make headshots a rare occurrence, but I’ve only died a couple times in roughly 3 hours of play.
I instinctively balk at the changes made. I’m thinking that there’s some moments that will pay off eventually and it’s too early to render judgement, but even the way they changed the cutscene where Leon gets injected seemed really odd to me. I played until just past where you meet the merchant, and I wish they’d kept his original voice and brevity. He never shuts up now, every utterance a reminder that he isn’t the real merchant.

I'm only about 15 mins in, and it feels different. It's more 'serious' than the original. It's quite unsettlingly creepy at the moment. Will see what happens.
The way it all starts is different for instance. Not massively but enough to change things up

Let me guess, there is not going to be a chase sequence by a gigantic statue of the mid-game villain.
Do I even want this game?

I’ll say this, it’s engaging. There’s new things. I’m probably enjoying it. I’m not not-enjoying it. And lots of people probably don’t know every inch of RE4 and won’t spend the whole time distracted by thoughts of the original game.

Not massively but enough to change things up I always thought the village scene was one of *the* creepiest set-pieces in the entire RE universe, anyway. It gave me the creeps at the time, and it did the same in the demo. Much more unsettling than the "real" zombies in 1-3.

But I distinctly remember rushing out to buy the game after watching a video of the village sequence. It wasn't even on my radar before, because as a long time PC player I had never cared much about survival horrors at all (the only one I played was REmake on the GC and thought it was kinda annoying), but then after just one video I was like "holy shit I must play this game".

The main thing I loved about RE4 was, the first time I played, it was all a genuine surprise. “There’s something wrong with the villagers” was all they told you. When that first time the plagas pops out the guys head, it was a genuine What. The. Fuck. moment.
In this version, the very first guy you meet is obviously a magical monsterman.
