It was a terrible, missed opportunity that show, because I’d have watched a hundred episodes of “clone dad has to live double life keeping secrets from Umbrella and keeping secrets from his kids” which could have continually escalated, likeda sillier Breaking Bad. But they wasted the budget including this tedious future plot line that added nothing. The high point of the show was a parent teacher meeting. I’d have doubled down on hiding the extraordinary among the ordinary.

I don’t think I can remember another show that paints the lead in such a heroic light whilst showing her being so directly responsible for literally every bad thing that happens over the course of the series.

Umbrella having worse security than a shopping mall was quite surprising too, the company has its own army and doesn't even bother to have a rentacop on door duty.

Ha, yeah. Jade was like Jack Shepherd off Lost after a lobotomy levels of thick, reactive cunt with a hero complex.
On second thoughts maybe it was best it was cancelled. Just do a Bert Wesker spinoff when he was locked in that room for umpteen years instead.

The best thing that could come of it would be Lance Reddick being offered some more varied roles than the one he’s played umpteen times now.

I guess this effectively kills any chance of future RE tv shows and films.

I don’t know how its been so hard to do it justice.
I suppose the animated ones capture something of the games, but that something is always RE6

At the very least we have been spared from seeing the live action version of Lady D in S2 as the show runner promised. Given that S1 included so much pop culture references in the script, I wouldnt be surprised if they had her say "It's morbin time"

I also enjoyed the Baxter character for some reason. The way he is written should make him instantly hated but somehow it came together well. Just the right level of over the top. I'd rather have more obese dude turning into John Wick than the sisters sneaking out of the field of view of a thermostat...
Also saw "Welcome to Raccoon city" on prime a few days ago. Poor Neal McDonough, I think he has the range to pull off some good performances and yet they seem to only use him when they need scenery well and truly chewed to pieces. The rest of the film is predictably shit. Again just the push to add as many references as possible in there means it could never have worked... Still, anything to distract from the plot holes all over the place. Chris basically has zombies for neighbours and he hadn't noticed...

The characterization in that latest film is amongst the most baffling of any film I've ever seen. They gave them all personality transplants for the sheer sake of it. Leon in particular is just fucking ridiculous.

How hard can it be to just make a movie/tv show that just follows the already insane plot of the games?

Very, I suspect. If you watch any of the 'faithful' Japanese anime/videogame adaptations, they look absolutely fucking ridiculous. I mean, well written the RE games are not.
But, yes, the bones are there. Enough that, in this instance, you dont have to pivot to a YA series starring a pair of unbelievably annoying teenagers.

I honestly thought the Jovovich RE films were fine and I re watch them now and again. Perfectly captured the campy over seriousness of the games.
Biggest issue is the blatant continuity issues that arise from them just getting whatever actors for the characters that are available whenever it is they decide to film. Jill Valentine? Yeah fuck it chuck her in this one. She can't commit to the next film to carry on her arc? Ah, well, whatever, just get Claire in instead.

I mean, that happens in the games, too. I would bet most people who play them can barely tell the difference.

It looks a bit like Rose might have Alan Wake torch powers from the five seconds we see of it in the trailer
Third person mode will probably be enough for me to give the main game another spin too. It’ll be interesting to see how it effects the atmosphere of some of the locations giving us a wider field of view and slight detachment from the action.
I suppose if RE4 is another RE engine game it makes sense to be on both. Plus there is stuff in the games they’ve done with it so far that are among the very best looking stuff of the generation so it shouldn’t be holding the current gen back too much.

Yup, thought 4 Remake looked great. Also looking forward to the Winters’ DLC for Village.
Re: Verse, on the other hand, … lol guess I’m just not the target demographic.
Code: Veronica Remake next, please.

There's also a demo for the third person mode available? Will that be patched into the old copy of Village or is that exclusive to Gold Edition?

Not enamoured with the Rose DLC at all tbh. However I would quite like to play through village in 3rd person. Do I have to buy the expansion to be able to do that though?
Ah spooky is wondering the same thing. It's not very clear is it.

It did sound a bit (deliberately?) vague, which makes me suspect you will need to upgrade to the Gold Edition, or whatever it is, for the 3rd person mode. Hopefully I’m wrong, though.

That counter of the chainsaw kill with the knife is so unbelievably dumb. I love it. New knife parry too, there's no way Krauser knife fight is getting cut. Leon's even got the one liners, it looks like how remakes should be done and Capcom is gonna make some serious profit out of it.
