Yep, there's been a hell of a lot of recent discoveries, all these probes have found water everywhere!
I personally find him a bit wet and annoying, but he's done a good job with this one.

Fucking hell lads, Rivals on Disney+ is the absolute nuts. Absolutely pitch perfect. It’s like I’m back doing my O levels.

I think my main comparison for it is Jonathan Creek. But mainly because of how it walks the line between comedy, drama and whodunit. Yeah I'm quite enjoying Ludwig and that is a fair summary. Perhaps more Mark Corrigan, than Jonathan Creek. Same here, really like it. And I’m 99% certain that they ordered two series of it.

i saw the guardian gave it five stars, was wondering how much of that was down to nostalgia for the 80s - and o levels, whatever they are - and how well it'd stand up today

Woman just lost £61k on WWTBAM, must be bloody daft to go for it. Who was the last member of the royal family to hold the title of Empress of India? A) Victoria B) Mary of Teck C) Queen Elizabeth the Queen mother D) Queen Elizabeth II it’s the Queen Mother, she went for Mary Teck Ouch

I'm episode 5 into the Penguin show.
It's... good? I think? I'm honestly not sure what kind of show it's trying to be, the tone is flailing around like an episode of The Boys. I like the performances in it, though, so that's enough to go on.

Agatha All Along - S1E2 Really enjoying it so far. It doesn't really fuck about with getting going. I'd geared myself up for a few episodes of police procedural with a gruff Agnes, but it soon moves on from that. Rivals S1E4 Took a while to gel with me, but this episode really pulled me in. Great bit of suspense and the characters are all getting more of a chance to shine (even if 90% of them are complete cunts) Never thought I'd say this, but it needs much more Danny Dyer. He's excellent in it! WWDITS S6E3 Excellent stuff as usual. Hopefully it'll end on a high.

Devil's Hour (s2, amazon prime) - i liked the first season - it wasn't without its flaws (lead actress a bit hit and miss) but had some stunning positives (spooky kid being spooky, peter capaldi being extra fucking spooky) and i'm a complete sucker for a time loop story
first episode in of the second season and it appears this time we're looking largely from the perspective of the loop which was leaking in to the first season's time, and a third loop where our protagonist is now aware she's in a loop and carries knowledge from previous loops. Peter Capaldi's spookiness is dialled up to 11, he is utterly terrifying

Was v surprised when I saw Devil's Hour S2 pop up on Prime. Thought the first series was OK but didn't have it down as more than a limited series. Must've done well for Amazon.
Not sure I cba with another series mind unless it is significantly better.

Speaking of... (several things related to the above discussion points)
Wanted to watch a scary movie this weekend with the fam, but time kept getting away from us and it was too late on Sunday evening to watch a movie, so we skipped ahead a season and watched Blink (from Doctor Who S3 E10).
Works really well as a standalone episode, and is just damn good tv. It's amazing how spooky they manage to make a family 7pm tv show with no blood or anything.
I remember the first time I watched it I thought the main actress was really good, but I didn't know her then (or maybe she wasn't famous yet).
Has to be one of the best single episodes of TV ever. Could probably enjoy it without ever watching another episode of Dr Who, and even better if you can go in blind without knowing who the antagonists are.

Finally started Ludwig tonight and watched the first two episodes. My two most rewatched series ever are Peep Show and Jonathan Creek, so this is basically the best thing ever. Not even sure if it’s objectively any good, don’t really care cos it’s a great time.
Also love that Olivia Coleman is now too expensive for little BBC dramas so they managed to replace her as Mark Corrigan’s lady sidekick with someone with a 100% identical voice. It’s deeply uncanny.

Coincidentally I'm just coming to the end of watching Twenty Twelve, where Olivia Coleman spends two seasons sidelined as a PA who occasionally pops in with a Danish pastry.

I remember the first time I watched it I thought the main actress was really good, but I didn't know her then (or maybe she wasn't famous yet). Carey Mulligan, she had already been spotted and was getting great reviews, but was just on the cusp of being well known at the time.
I had similar thoughts about Callie Cooke who was the lead in the recent 'Doctor lite' (same as Mulligan) episode Dot and Bubble.

Watching Severance which is precisely the kind of speculative show I hate to love because they always let you down but I checked the IMDB scores before going in and supposedly it doesn't.
As always with things like this, bloody love it (early on). Great cast, music, visual style, love all the questions it raises a out what is going on. Four episodes in and it's got its hooks in. Hope it has some satisfying answers. Still got The Leftovers at the back of my mind.

The last episode of Ludwig was even better than I expected. Love the way they shifted a few characters around.
The bloke who flogs Dacia Sanderos looks like a wrong un though.

Was in the mood for a geeky documentary and RoboDoc (Prime) popped up about the making of RoboCop. Funnily enough produced by someone I know, Hank Starrs (who also did the great '1977' Star Wars doc). It's four episodes and so in-depth, revealing and engaging that it's hard to stop watching. I really recommend it.

Just started Pachinko. One episode in and you can tell from the off that it's going to be absolutely top tier stuff!
Beautifully shot, well acted and some fascinating insights into parts of history that tend to get overlooked.

The SNL pre-election skit as it kept popping up on Reddit with people gushing about how good it is.
Fucking hell this is dire! I always instantly regret checking out a SNL clip, so shouldn't really be surprised this time. I'll never understand the appeal of it. Just plain unfunny shit.

I was walking down the street here in Brussels this morning and overheard four very street looking teens talking about Olivia Colman in French - didn't catch what they were saying about her but definitely caught her name - I mean if you're reaching the Walloon hip hop teen demographic then you're basically Hollywood royalty

The Bear (S3)
After two excellent seasons this third season feels like a real slog and I'm only half way through.

Yeah, it was a real "oh shit, they renewed it for two more seasons but we're only ready for one. Let's just tread water for a while..." Kind of season

Another reason to admire Rez Dogs. The show runner chose to pull the plug because he said that he’d told the story he wanted.
(although it is also gutting as I’d quite happily watch seasons of that where nothing happens and you’re just watching the community live)
