The latest episode of Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing is a real treat. It seems like its gone back more in the direction of the earlier episodes where it was a case of pointing a camera at them and letting their friendship do the talking.

The second season of Pachinko has been absolute s-tier television from the first episode and I never see anyone talking about it.
It's not even in top 5 on Apple and it's the best thing they'll ever make.

Ludwig on BBC. I see David Mitchell continues to play me, Peep Show in my twenties and now this in my forties.
My parents-in-law think it’s corny, but then they watch Reacher so this rather invalidates their point. It’s tremendous, solvable whodunnits in the style of Poirot but the closest comparison is probably Morse because of the Oxbridge connection.
My gran absolutely loved Morse, and I absolutely love this.

Also my Amazon Fire Stick has turned into an obnoxious pushy bellsniffer, every time I pause anything on my telly it takes a moment to turn itself on and tell me about Rings of Power or something equally uninteresting. I would like to be able to switch my telly on first thing in the morning without George Clooney bellowing at me while I make my coffee.

I think my main comparison for it is Jonathan Creek. But mainly because of how it walks the line between comedy, drama and whodunit.

Lots of animation lately, because I've been home with a cold and needed to pass the time.
Remember when you were a kid and you saw a comic book with an awesome Frazetta-esque cover of a primeval hero riding/fighting a dinosaur, and there was probably a spaceship and a lady in a fur bikini? So you'd buy it, but once you got home and read it and it was mostly black-and-white comics about some boring detective named Max Blastface pointing guns at people. Odds were there wasn't a single dinosaur, and you learned that day that life is full of betrayals.
Primal is that comic book cover, but it delivers enough awesome caveman + dinosaur ultraviolence to almost erase my childhood disappointment and restore my faith in humanity. Somehow it manages to squeeze in some real pathos too. There's (almost) no dialogue beyond roaring, so everything has to be conveyed through the animation, and the animation is excellent. I love it, and I feel like the world has failed me for not telling me about it before. A little sad I only have half a season left to watch.
Avatar: The Legend of Korra. I started watching this years ago, but stopped at some point in season 2 because I thought it got a bit slow. Didn't have any trouble getting through it this time, so not sure what my problem was. It does share the problem ATLA had where the protagonists have to constantly do dumb stuff in order to keep the plot moving, and it's much harder to overlook when they're not small children. But it's entertaining enough with the Asian steampunk world and magical kung fu fights.
And I was going to watch just the first episode of Blue Eye Samurai but ended up watching the first four in one sitting (they're an hour each). I think that means it's good!

A few too much on the go at the moment:
Original Mission Impossible TV. Some episodes are brilliant and better than a lot of similar types of shows made now.
Star Trek TNG. up to season 3 and some of the episodes are great, especially yesterday’s enterprise. I hate the one where the Klingon joins the crew. S1 and S2 have some awful episodes.
The Penguin. Not sure so far. I think I really like it but too early to be sure, so far slow but not boring.
Pachinko S1 never got into this on my first attempt. I think the problem is that you have to give it full attention, which is rare and difficult these days. Love it on this attempt note that’s what I’m doing.
Tulsa King S2 first season was decent trash. This season seems to have run out of ideas already. Going to give it another episode or two but might give up on it.
Frasier (2023) S2 gave up after 2 episodes. It’s just not good. Might come back to it when there’s less on.
Interview with the Vampire S2. Struggling to get into this season a bit but need a bit of a binge. S1 was brilliant.

I'll have more to say about it when I'm done, 3 episodes left, but Scavengers Reign has been the best sci fi show I've seen in quite some time.

Gangs of London S1E2 Stuck it on to check out the scenes filmed in and around my dad's old local pub, which ended up being a pretty huge chunk of the first episode. Immediately started the next episode afterwards, so it's clearly doing something right. Feels like exactly what I'm in the mood for right now. Crime drama with some ridiculously OTT violence. A bit disappointed that the legendary Colm Meaney AND that guy off Kin got killed off pretty much straight away Slow Horses S4E4 Good stuff as usual. Kicking myself for not waiting a couple of weeks until it finished airing though.

MAFS (guilty pleasure) with the GF (S09 - Channel 4)
Curvy women get matched with judgemental shallow men, hilarity ensues.

MAFSUK just isn't the same as the Aus version. There's something about the contestants there, mostly absolutely batshit crazy.

I think my main comparison for it is Jonathan Creek. But mainly because of how it walks the line between comedy, drama and whodunit. I am currently watching Ludwig as well, thing is, not sure its very good. It is not strong in either the comedy or drama TBH, I get the feeling they worked out the intricate crimes first then tacked on a story. The comedy relief in his team are just plain annoying and don't add much at all. Must have something because I am sticking with it

His overall character arc was interesting *enough* to see me all the way through in a couple of days. It's no Jonathan Creek in terms of cleverness, because I worked out about half of them ahead of time, but still it's like a solid tribute act.

skalpadda the rest of the world failed you. I reviewed Primal on here somewhere. Not quite Samurai Jack but still very good.

2 episodes to go in The Perfect Couple. It's trashy nonsense but strangely compelling.

How do these BBC shows *always* completely pass me by until there's a third series?? I'm practically only ever watching BBC channels and it's still a case of "the most highly acclaimed show in the history of TV since Stooky Bill is back!" all the bloody time.

Just started the third season of From. Another solid first episode.
I don't especially like horror but adding a Lost-esque wtf layer of mystery really does it for me. Fun, scary, nonsense.

Though I have the excuse of being in another hemisphere. Is Industry on BBC? It's another one like Succession that just has a cover-image of a bunch of buisness people in suits in a lift, and has a deeply dull and forgetable name, so I just assume it's dull and scroll straight past it. I mean, seriously, Industry has to be one of the worst names for a show since From.

I thought the first series was a one and done. Didn’t realise there’d even been a number two and now three is being sold as a blockbuster franchise instalment?

All the screenshots look like a deeply boring office drama. But season 3 does apparently have Kit Harington as JD Vance, so that's something to look forward to:
