I’ve got three characters, all have beaten Mohg & Radahn First character is Dex/Faith and is at the very end of NG after beating EB Second is Dex / Arcane and up to Norah Loux. Really good character, fast pole blades and bleed Third is Strength with Great Stars, Heavy Claymore and other weapons that bop in the night. I’m up to Fire Giant and won’t burn the Erdtree until the DLC comes out.
I’m really looking forward to the release Just hope it’s a good, explorable area with lots to do.

Between JuniorFE and me, we also have three characters that have beaten the game but not started NG+, so ready for the DLC. Problem is I don't remember jack shit about my character (or the secondary we both used) and the first week or so would be spent re-familiarizing with the game and its controls/mechanics/etc; fuck old age...

I always think that, but after 15 years and 7+* games, it takes less than 20 minutes to get comfy in a Soulsborne. *More like 10 if you count remasters and SotfS

Not sure why but I'm not particularly excited for this DLC. I mean, it looks great but... Dunno. Don't think I'm in the mood. Think it's becasue I can't be arsed with the open worldy stuff again. If it was just a few big self-contained "legacy dungeon" type areas I think I'd be more keen. Just can't be arsed galloping about the place on my stunted magic pony.

Danno Well, it took me longer than that to get back on that horse (OK, goat) after my bypass heart op back in the summer of 2022, but in hindsight it could be the recovery from the op slowing me down...

I have one character that's stopped right before Mogh, in case there are new cutscenes or something. In the main storyline, the character stopped right before the burning, again in case something changes about pre- or post-that (e.g. maybe there's a new NPC in the hub, but they disappear with the others once the burn starts--or something changes about that NPC even in the outside world, like with Corhyn and Goldmask).

I think I just have the one character on NG+ or maybe even NG++...it's been a while since I played. Will having such a high level character make the DLC a breeze? Dear reader of course it fucking won't

FlexibleFeline IIRC, Miyazaki-san has stated that having a high level character won't mean much while playing the DLC, or something among those lines, because they've added another layer of leveling up, so your spoiler is pretty much accurate

I have my main Strength/Faith guy right at the end of the game ready to pick an ending (or not…), and a second Dex/Int character who I thought I’d also take to near the endgame. But I haven’t got quite there yet, she’s just defeated Radahn and now torn between main pathing through Leyndell or diverting to Nokron

/ouch Yep, that's what I was thinking of - I can't remember the details but I do know there's still some form of gating system (= punishment for not being DLC good enough to progress past bosses). Typical

Finally beat the Elden Tadpole. Pest Threads absolutely destroyed it after I respec’d a little to get enough Faith.
Horribly overlevelled but that’s the only way I ever complete FromSoftware games. And half the reason I like them so much.
Now for the dlc. I know levels don’t help much in this but I assume I should hold off ng+ until it arrives?

jeepers I'd say hold off; apparently, the DLC entrance point is a long way into the game and you probably don't want to have to reach that in NG+.

Pest Threads is exactly what I used against it, it was the most effective for my build and shredded it. Which was surprising as I don't recall it being massively useful elsewhere.

That’s a good point. I’m still a fair way off (just finished doing all the Siofra / Noxtella side areas) but can I finish my current playthrough (ie see an ending) without having to start a NG+?

Beaten Raya Lacaria on my play through. Decided to head over to Radahn but banging my head against the fight a lot. Realised after many attempts that horseback seemed to not be helping me, other than for dashing around to get the summons.
As soon as I stopped using the horse things felt a little easier, but I'm still getting wrecked by the second phase. Think I'm a bit under levelled for him at the moment (level 59, I think), but certainly don't have enough health, as pretty much dying if any of his attacks hit me.
So, off to get a few more levels and pump up my health. About to head into Caira Manor.
Currently using the Greatsword. Have it to +8 at the moment. I like it and seems really great in the open world. Don't think it is such a great boss killer though. I'm used to the animation and managed to beef up my endurance to be able to wear some ok armour along with wielding it, but bosses aren't going to stagger like regular enemies. Not sure if I can get a better colossal sword or something similar that will be more appropriate for bosses.

My hit thing with big stick build completed castle sol with not too much hassle. Just the bloody bird hawk giving me issues due to it flying out of range half the time. Niall went down after 2 attempts, first attempt my summons decided he would prefer fighting stuff at the other side of the fog ignoring the bigger problems in the arena. Haha
Off to the consecrated fields and then the Haligtree.

Vandelay - my latest build is strength, but I abandoned the Greatsword as I found it missed small enemies like the little fuckers in the catacombs, but mainly cos it was too slow for anything. I’d shelve it until you’re later game and have better stats to wield it. A couple of alternatives are Great Stars - it’s a spiked club you can run for in Altus plateau in one of the convoy chests. It does strike damage, great for mines, it regenerates a little health with each hit and it hits HARD. Another choice is the Claymore which is brilliant in this. It does regular damage but has a strong pierce R2 attack too. It’s not too heavy, and it’s just ace. It’s in a chest in the ground floor of Castle Morne and you can suicide run for it if you’re not up to fighting the massive dog & Boris Johnson’ enemies that you have to run past. Lastly level up vitality. Radahn is a stretch for any character but you’ll need the health and the defence bonuses it brings as you progress. I think L59 sounds too low for Radahn, I’d be happier at 80, but certainly 70+ Good luck

Take the lift up and flank the enemy horde and keep the walk on your right, keep going and it’s round the corner iirc If I misremember, check YT - I’ll see if I can find the one I used as it isn’t obvious Here you go youtu.be/XjIlSkLU_u0?si=tZD3jb8Na6mG2Ufy

Thanks Loto. Should already have the Claymore, but Great Stars sounds fun. Dipped into that area so should be ready to get to it, if I haven't already nabbed it.

Rotten Breath is very effective against Radahn, but it requires faith / arcane (15/12); as well as a dragon heart to purchase it. I would always keep the horse as summoming the allies is key - at least for my strategy: they draw a lot of aggro, allowing you a window to unleash the breath on the bastard.

Clearly DLC month as everyone is back!
Meanwhile after getting slowed down in the Consecrated Snowfield (fuck that snowstorm) I've just sort of not bothered with many of the caves/catacombs around there and blown a magic whistle to get to Mohgwyn Palace area! Hopefully I'm not setting myself up for more aggravation down the road if I end up under-powered.
Finally upgraded a weapon to +10 though (Moonveil) and might actually manage to finish this before the DLC comes out...

Consecrated Snowfield (and Lake of Rot) are the only two areas in which I went for the “Fuck it. Leg it thro’ as quickly as possible” approach.

I do tend to complete all the main points of interest in the snowfields - cave, mine & crypt included - but I can never be arsed fighting the runebears so I always leave the areas where they're hanging out untouched.
Anyway, just about to head to Farum Azula on PS, but now have a character on all 3 formats that have met the requirements for the DLC. I'm going to be absolutely fucking sick of the sight of the game by the start of July!

I think that's very possible, especially in the late game and especially if one's the completionist type

I got sick of it on my first run through when I got to Altus Plateau. Soon picked up again during and post-Leyndell.

I was being somewhat facetious with my Ralph Wiggum bit - there's plenty to get sick of in the game, I can understand it. That said, I'm not sure I really did. I got frustrated with some parts: from memory...Fire Giant, Maliketh, Commander Niall, the blood swamp between Big Bird farming point and Mohg's palace - probably some others mentioned somewhere in this thread. But given its scale and scope it did an amazing job of keeping me invested.
I'd say the game's biggest weakness - and we've discussed this before I'm pretty sure - is the obscurity of some NPC quests. If you are a completionist there is simply zero chance of doing all of these without looking stuff up.
