Iβve got a xs max (so is older than yours) and is still absolutely fine for everything I use it for. What sites are you having issues with? Loads of them.Β So many sites these days are filled with loads of images, or autoplaying videos, or infinite scrolling articles, or HTML5 dynamic backgrounds.Β It eats into the memory resources quickly. only because no cunt can use basic image software and optimise their images. Iβd say say tracking scripts take up most resources for browsers these days

Have you tried just downloading the relevant ipsw and just reflash the firmware? iirc there was a trick in itunes whete you hold the option button and click on a button in itunes and it lets you select the ipsw file. Well, the guy at the repair shop couldn't fix it so I'm open to any suggestions. Fucking hell.

Spent 50 minutes on the support chat trying to fix my sons iPad. In the end we agreed that I should send it in for repair. Then he dropped the price which was 75% of what a new iPad would cost.
Fucking hell

How did your son break his 3 year old iPad Tonka

I honestly don't know. At first I thought it was just out of storage, my son said as much. So I deleted his one billion screengrabs of Roblox and Brawl Stars. That solved the problem.
Then it got stuck in a boot loop, I follwoed the instructions and tried to restore it using iTunes on my laptop. Then I got an error messge 4013 which could mean my iTunes was too old (which, yes, seeing as it's still called iTunes it most definitely is but since I have old legacy software that would break if I updated to a later version of macOS I can't update iTunes so I took it to a repair shop that failed and then I took it to work where I got hhold of a newish MacBook that I updated to Moterey and then tried to restore the iPAd and then I follwoed all the fucking "Do this" things on Apple Help that the representative on the chat then asked me thrice if I had done and then sent a link to the same fucking page and then to cap it all off you have to turn off "Fin My" for the iPad if ypu want to send it in to Apple because they are such a scummy company that they are ashamed of how they just trash your iPad and then send you a new one but first I had to turn that off and he sent me isntructions for how to do that on the iPad that wouldn't boot and then it all ended with the "It will be 75% of the cost of a brand new iPad" and me breaking down.
And here we are.
I'll get a chromebook for him.

you have to turn off "Fin My" for the iPad if ypu want to send it in to Apple because they are such a scummy company that they are ashamed of how they just trash your iPad and then send you a new one I don't follow that logic. If they trash it (which they only do when a repair goes wrong), they tell you that you're getting a different device. Disabling Find My is also needed to reinstall iOS, which they might need to do during a repair (e.g. if they replace the board).

Admittedly I've no idea why I have to disable Find My. I can't come up with any good reason though. It says nothing about having to disable Find My when I try and update iOS on my own. But maybe that's the reason for the error 4013 exists.
I'll give it yet another try toorrow.
So, I gave it a try and turning off Find My does NOT fix the Error 4013 issue. That is all.

Updating no, but flashing the firmware via a computer requires Find My to be disabled (or at least it did), probably to avoid stolen phones to be cleaned for resale.

Got my new MacBook PRO today. The entry level M1 Pro model. Keyboard is really nice, having ports is amazing, video and audio are a noticeable step up.
I'm setting it up manually since I had a bunch of crap on the old one I'd rather get rid of, but gods there are some boring things to do o a new computer. Setting up VPN, trying to turn off all the annoying notifications, logging in to my google accounts, etc.
All in all this is super exciting. Time to get Fusion 360 up and running

I thought Apple were dead to you. Nah, it was only ever their joke of a "Pro" MacBook I refused to get. Now that they rolled back all their stupid ideas I'm happy to get one. As for the iPad it's about time the youngest get a proper keyboard to play around with, so ditching tablets completely.

I picked up the 16β Pro with the 1TB SSD, and itβs bloody good. Iβm mostly using it for Final Cut Pro work and it monsters 4k60 footage where my top-spec 2017 27β iMac struggled. Does anyone know a good place to sell said iMac? I always forget eBay takes about 12%β¦ itβs in Surrey if that helps.

I'm looking to get a Mac mini with the new chips in. Probably won't be out till March/April next year which is fine.
In the meantime looking at getting myself a Dell U2720Q monitor. 13" is great for on the go but I need a proper monitor for when I'm using Final Cut and Resolve Studio.

There is a decided dearth of monitors with decent DPI for 2x "Retina" use. I have a 24" 4K which sorta works, but is a bit small (at least next to the XDR ).

Another really nice thing that I've noticed after some use, is that the new MBP has a real clicking touchpad. Not that fake ass haptic feedback that was indistinguishable as long as it worked, but felt horrible when it didn't.
Not sure if they mentioned this change during their presentation.

No they didn't mention it, and I haven't read about such a change anywhere. Why do you think it is a physically moving trackpad now?

Force Touch is still in the latest MacBooks. I donβt think itβs changed since it was released.

I can see the track pad move when I click it, and it still clicks when it's turned off.
I prefer it this way, and find it strange that it hasn't been mentioned.

Itβs still the same force touch with haptic feedback theyβve used for years. You can set it to have two βlayersβ of pressure if thatβs whatβs confusing you

I can see it slightly moving on my 2019 16" MBP as well, but when gradually applying more and more pressure, it "clicks" way before I see it physically move. I guess that's not "clicking" moving, but "play" moving (i.e. the trackpad, or the part below the trackpad, flexes a bit).

You can set it to have two βlayersβ of pressure if thatβs whatβs confusing you What I meant was that the trackpad physically moves when pressed. My 2017 MBP didn't. It simulated a click with haptic feedback, but every so often I would end up in a situation where I clicked and got no feedback, like pressing next to the trackpad. Maybe they scrapped that feature a while ago and I missed it. 99% of the clicks worked fine, but the last 1% was confusing and unpleasant, so I'm glad they're back to actually clicking trackpads.

Theyβre 100% not. My 2018 and 2021 have identical trackpads with the same force touch stuff, aside from the sizes absolutely nothing ha changed. Are you sure you have a MacBook there? Did you buy it on wish.com?

I'm not sure what you mean when you say force touch, I thought that was Apples version of long press but with force instead of time as the differentiator. But it seems you are talking about how they faked clicks with haptic feedback. Was that only on the Air? HAve I gotten it wrong all this time and blamed the non clicky experience on the wrong thing?

Force touch is the haptic feedback and pressure sensor tech. Absolutely none of the current Apple trackpads physically click. They give way a little bit but they do not make a physical click. Its been standard in MacBook pros since 2015, MacBook Airs since 2018
