What would you guys say is the best value iPhone now? I'm quite keen on the 3x zoom so thinking either 13 Pro, 14 Pro or 15 Pro... very happy to buy used, but wondering if since the 15 Pro has had a £100 price drop whether new (with a warranty, and a guarantee that it's a genuine battery and screen) is worth the extra. Thanks I'd say unless you're going to get used half price or less then you should get a new one. If you look after it it should last you about 4 years! Thank you! Half price would be nice I've just offered £500 for a 13 Pro on Mozillion but don't expect I'll get it. They have 'As new' (99% or 100% battery health) for around £700 which is tempting, but then maybe it's worth the £300 extra and just get an actual brand new 15 Pro.

I would say always buy the latest model. Value is a bit subjective. But if money is an issue then lots of 14 Pros will be hitting the market in the next couple of weeks as people upgrade so maybe that? Personally I'm still very happy with my 13 Pro so not upgrading this year. Forgot to say thanks for this, you got me looking at 128GB 13 Pros because honestly I can't see any big features that it's missing, and I specifically wanted the smaller form factor for easy one handed use... but somehow last night I ended up buying a 256GB 14 Pro Max I think (hope) that if it turns out it is too big I can sell it without making a loss anyway. But excited to finally be getting a new phone!

Sky VIP doing another 6 month free trial. Not sure there's been much added since I last binged everything on there using it.

Is anyone actually paying for this*? I’ve had it for two years purely on free trials.

Gratz and thanks because I was nearly tempted to offer to sell you my 13 Pro and use that as an excuse to get a 15 Pro which would have been stooopid of me

I’m in the market for a new phone but I’m balking at the cost.

Watch OS 10 is a remarkable improvement. Little tweaks but it’s so much snappier and easier to navigate around now.

Yeah, enjoying WatchOS 10, and some of the new things in iOS 17 are nice too.
Going to look at new phones, and a new iPad (though I’m torn on whether to grab this now or wait for the next refresh in ‘24), on Friday. Also going to be picking up the new Beats Studio Pro and the mulberry watch band for the winter months.

Weirdness from my iPhone 12 Pro lately, it’s gotten temperamental with its charging. If the battery drops below 20% it won’t charge from the little 5W iPhone wall plug, just hover at the same level. If it’s above 30ish % it charges fine though, so if it drops too low I have to basically jumpstart it on an 85w macbook plug

The Snoopy animations are genuinely quite sweet. However, I really don't like that they've removed the swipe left/right to change watch faces on the fly. I do that a few times during the day depending on what I'm doing and it's super quick and convenient. It's now a 3 tap process over 1 swipe. They've not even reallocated what the swipe does. Seems a huge backwards step to be honest. What compounds this is the fact that the Snoopy watch face is so bloody lovely but has no complications, so a swipe to get to my fitness icon or shazam or whatever, is now a pain.

One of the things that annoyed me most was the face changing when I swiped without realising

But you can press the crown to bring up everything on the watch in one press, so there's no difference in getting to anything you need in a single press?
I noticed the change of swipe to edit>swipe but found it more beneficial, as it prevents accidental face changes while still being able to intentionally change faces relatively quickly.

Just noticed that you can pin items from the Smart Stack, that actually helps in terms of getting the activity rings easy to read.

More WATCHOS 10 bits: I'm sure there used to be a space between your heart rate number and "BPM".
69BPM makes a quick glance turn into a double take when I think it says 698 bpm!

Ooh my Watch Ultra 2 arrived! First impressions: the alpine strap sucks, and my old braided strap is now too loose. I loved that braided strap. Might try a new one, one size smaller. Also, I hadn’t realised that the double-pinch gesture is being rolled out in a later step update, 10.1 apparently, so still waiting to see how that works. The bigger screen is nice for my geriatric eyes. Err that’s it so far.

For the three watches I’ve had I always end up switching back to my Nike sport strap. All the others get very sweaty from any practical use.
My 15 pro max arrived. I like it, I also disabled the always on display within minutes.
Double pinch is available on the watch - go to accessibility options.

Grrr. Had to move my 15 Pro Max delivery date to Monday as my hour slot was only time I was out #facepalm
Still deciding on which watch to get to replace my series 4. Prob alt basic Series 9 …. Although the Ultra 2 does look sexy

> I like it, I also disabled the always on display within minutes. That's the best bit! Yeah but why do I need it to be on when it’s in my pocket on on my desk. I can tap the screen to wake it up rather than waste the tiny amount of power.

Double pinch is available on the watch - go to accessibility options. Not the same. Well the pinch gesture is, obviously, but the way it functions is very different. The new one that rolls out with 10.1 is much better than the accessibility feature that all the watches have.

Got my iPhone 15 today. Honestly don’t see the point of a USB C to USB C charger when every port everywhere is a regular USB. It’s a massive pain in the arse. Just make one end a regular USB like it was before. Dick move.

I’ve loads of USB C port chargers. It’s what the industry is shifting to.

The point is usb C plugs can carry higher voltages so in the long term everything will have to shift over eventually

I can tap the screen to wake it up rather than waste the tiny amount of power. If the display senses something is blocking it, it shuts off. So it's not on in your pocket or when it's on your desk screen side down. "I can tap the screen" is basically 2023's "I can just go to work on a horse" 😉

This is definitely not a dig as I’m a big fan of iPhones but how on earth is anyone justifying the rediculous spend on them?
Or are you on contracts where you get a free upgrade of similar?

I use mine more than any other device by quite a margin, and they last 3 years at minimum so even the Pro that I choose works out a £1 per day which I’m quite alright with
