If you've haven't attached an airtag to your dog/cat collar you're doing it wrong

Glad the new airpods case has it too. The find me stuff I mean, don't think it will work like airtags outside the house.

Its almost magical. If my wife leaves a room for more than five seconds, she will say 'has anyone seen my phone?' when she re-enters it. That’s me. My main use of my iPad is “Where the fuck did leave my phone this time!”

If you've haven't attached an airtag to your dog/cat collar you're doing it wrong Did think about this but will it work if your cat is more than 20 feet away (my cat is rarely close, and if she is I don’t need to find her)

AirTags work anywhere in the world where there are iPhones to ping off

You can get collars with AirTag mounts on them. My step mum has a bonkers expensive cat and she only lets it out on tag like a common sex offender.

Soooooooo the general concensous is meh? I mean, it depends, right? I used to tick-tock switch between android and iPhone and eventually stuck with apple as it eventually provided a far superior, all round experience (like you, storage and battery were my big issues with them). But there is a reason Samsung sell so many phones, so you just have to try it.

Long story short, my Mrs has had sn Iphone... 8? and a 12 over the past 4 years. In that time I've had multiple Samsungs and other 'lesser' branded Android phones, probably 5 in the same time frame. Having been on Android since the first Samssung Galaxy S- for my wallet's sake I think I'm going to make the jump to IOS. Has anyone done this in the last couple of years? I like the freedom of Android, still use microSD's, but used to play roms on it, but now storage is decent and don't play games on it anymore so the reasons to stay on the platform is getting less and less. The Mrs is currently on iphone 12 and we only used that for holiday pictures this year and the pictrure quality is great. Can get a 256GB 14 for 32 quid on Sky, hoping the deal is on in February as that's when my contract is up, but happy to pay about £30. Any reason not to go onto Apple? I jumped from Android to apple after many years of using a Samsung note. I was just fed up of the shit software on Android. The hardware was all bleeding edge but what's the point when you have to fuck around with a hundreds of settings to get it to do what you want? I used to like the playing around with the settings but I don't have time for that now. To put it in a cliché, it just works is the reason to get an iPhone.

Thanks chaps. Pretty much made up my mind with either a 13 pro or a 14 plus. I thought they were much more than what could be looking between 32-37 p/m. Most of the reviews if the 14 say its just a tarted up 13, which is fine as it's new to me either way.
ITunes always put me off to be honest but I'm guessing there's little reason to us that these days?

Unless you are putting your own music on it there’s no need to have iTunes anymore.

I use Itunes for our Ipad, simply for putting mp3's on for mixes but glad that'll be the extent of it. Horrible bit of software.

Fuck knows about windows, it’s gone from the apple ecosystem. You don’t have to ever connect an iPhone to a computer any more now. If you spring for an Apple Music sub it’ll automatically link to your music library and you just stream from the server

It's just the cost that keeps me on Android. I begrudge paying the top dollar. Must be the scotch in me.

Pre-owned, m8. That’s where the value is. Updates and general robustness of the hardware mean you can pick up something a few years old and still rock it for another five years.

I use Spotify anyway so I'm never touching that piece of shit.

But even looking at things like the Oppo or the lower tier Samsung, you're paying a bloody premium. The last Samsung I had was the S20 FE 5G which was supposed to be an affordable S20, turned out to be anything but.

I am always very dubious of pre-owned Apple stuff. I instantly think someone is out to scam me, especially leaving me with a dud that I can't log into.

Dougs Assuming that the official Apple pre-owned store is still a thing (I’ve never looked, but my brother and his family used to get quite a bit from there), surely that would offer some form of guarantee?

Looks like they replace the case/shell (and glass if needed) and test the hardware before bundling it up with new accessories etc. The savings aren’t amazing (£160-ish off a 12 Pro) but it’s a few quid. I balked at the 13 Pro price but tbh it’s the new camera tech that drags me back. My XR is the worst Apple phone I’ve had - battery is half gone by 11am and the paint chipped off the top within a couple of months so I’m keen to replace it.

Yeah, I've bought iPads from the refurb store before, good value. Until my wife stood on it. 🤦🏻
Still rocking a Pixel but might be on the lookout in a year or so when my daughter moves into year 6 (which appears to be the universal signal for when kids neeeeed a phone).

I’ve bought a couple of refurbs from envirofone and they have been great other than a few minor marks on the screen. The girls XR was like new apart from a tiny ding near the selfie camera.

Hah! My six year old daughter is dropping hints about needing a phone. She can have one when she’s 40, same as drinking and wearing make-up.

I frequently have to buy older devices for work, and places like BackMarket have yet to let me down. That said I might be more reticent if it were my own cash on the line.

Ordered an iPhone 14 Pro Max this morning. Currently a 1 month wait on them by the looks of it. Will be upgrading from an X, which will then filter down to the boy.
Still umming and ahhing over a watch. If the SE 2 had AOD I think it would be a no-brainer, but the extra £200 for the S8 makes it a bit of a stretch for a luxury "want".

I might be imagining it but I think music sounds clearer over my bluetooth headsets using the iphone 14 pro than my iphone 12.
I can't see any audio hardware improvements though?
