No USB -C they can fuck off then.
Can the watch use the temperature sensor to tell if you're getting sick or is it just ovulation?

The island thing is going to look a bit shit if a screen protector needs a cutout around the sensor Why would it? The screen protectors I've seen for newer Face ID models always covered the sensors on top as well. Why wouldn't they.

Thought you couldn’t cover the FaceID camera with a glass protector? All the ones I’ve used on my X and 12 have been cut out for the notch, apparently to ensure FaceID works properly

The GF's 13 mini has a glass protector that covers the Face ID sensors, works fine.

Only Apple could turn a screen notch into a ‘dynamic island’ and make it a positive feature.

I guess it makes sense as a way to hide its real reason for being there and gives the illusion the notch serves a UI purpose.
Dynamic island is a phrase I’ll never use again after this post though as it’s stupid.

From the video it looks a neat trick to re-frame an engineering constraint as a cute UI nugget. It’s clever imo.

Was just hovering over the BUY button on the Apple Store and Sky Mobile websites for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Sky mobile, who I'm quite happy with in general, seem to be selling the same phone at about £350 more than buying direct. Given that I've already got a sim contract with Sky on about £4 a month that doesn't seem like a very good move.
Then I remembered that the apple event talked about eSim only for iPhone 14. Is that even a thing over here? There's no mention of eSim on Sky Mobile's website, which made me pump the brakes.

I think eSIM is only in the US.

Oh, they're releasing EIGHT different models then? That seems... odd!

Just a word of warning; I pre-ordered my 11 with sky and the release was an absolute shitshow. They sold far more than they had and after nearly 3 weeks waiting my black 64gb order was transformed into a red 128gb model by a CS manager just to get it out the door and shut me up.

It's just a thing they can turn on and off right? So it's the usual number of models, just some with eSIM enabled because they've sorted the carrier deals I guess.

Amazing how their store completely shits the bed, even after all these years and all the money they have.

I'm thinking more about the physical tray, Phattso. It looks like it's removed from the US design.

Yeah, I think I'll just wait for YouTube generation to get theirs. No rush for me really. I'll get one (or not) when the clamour dies down.

It is removed from the US version, but it’s a physical Sim in the UK version (and apparently the Hong Kong version has TWO physical Sim slots) They were making a big thing of the E-Sim in the show t’other night

That said, thanks to covid, Ive got like 300gb of data built up so I think I can get nearly 100 quid off the handset, so fuck it... I think I might get a 14 afterall.

And it happens to all these companies, it was the same for Steam Deck. Must be more complicated than just getting more servers. Or maybe it’s just not viable to have a lot of servers for these short peaks in number of users.

Even if find my iphone is off, they could still disable the eSim?

Hang on, it's more like £500 a month more for the handset alone.
£66.83 a month for 2 years (on their badly worded 12 months) deal. That's £1600 vs Apple's £1119 for a 128gb 14 Pro Max. Ouch! Given that Apple now offer 0% over 2 years... I don't get it.

I think I just ordered a phone? You know that thing you do where you go through the order process to see how much postage is or if you can put in a discount code? I wanted to see how much I could actually get off an order.
But after three clicks it just sky just said 'thanks for your order' and sent me an order confirmation.

AFAIK you can use two SIM cards with newer iPhone models. In "our" models, one is physical and the other is an eSIM. In the US, it's 2x eSIM and in China it's 2x physical.
