This is going to be terrible isn't it. Does look like it might just be a Jermaine Clement/Taika Waititi vehicle. Will also depend on how Lisa Kudrow does in a fantasy series

One episode in and loving Sunny already. Same, very strong first episode.

This is going to be terrible isn't it. Even with Jermaine onboard, it's not going to be good. And so at odds with the original (still, if you can't do it better, do it differently and all that).

I think it’s been mentioned before but Drops of God is fantastic.

The bandits are all a bit tall though aren't they. Could have been a great gig for everyone who should have been in Snow White.

A month today before Pachinko returns.
Won't post the trailer because I'm not sure how many here watched the first series.
There's been some stellar TV in the last few years but it's (thus far) the best show I've seen on any streaming platform, ever.

Colour me shocked, series 2 opener of Pachinko is superb.

Been enjoying Slow Horses. Up to series 2 and a episode two was a a weird one for me - first Cartwright pops to Stroud (where I live) in search of a Russian nutjob. Was spot checking all the locations in that sequence. Then it cuts to Gary Oldman having a jar in The Queens pub in Crouch End which I lived above for four years before coming to the West Country. Anyway Oldman is brilliant and seemingly very comfortable in the role.

Watched the first episode last night and it's excellent so far. Oldman is just such an absolute bastard!

What I love about the Jackson Lamb character in this and the books, this emerges more as it goes on, is how at heart he's heroic and protective of his slow horse joes. And the backstory that's led him to taking on this persona to deal with his past, he wasn't always this way. Oldman's perfect as Lamb, he's done some great stuff but this is the role of his career.

He probably resonates with a lot of people who have come to hate their jobs and also resent the fact that it’s also the only thing they are actually any good at.

There won't be a S4, if anything it'll be a spin off show I thought? There was speculation of a Hannah Waddingham + Roy Kent spin off at a different team last year when S3 wrapped up.

Bad Monkey, enjoying this a lot and better than i expected at first glance. Worth look if you like Fargo, Get Shorty tv series and that ilk of low life grifter crime with a black comedy undercurrent.
Adapted from Carl Hiaasen novel, i read a few of his back in the 90s but nothing recently, a more gonzo version of Elmore Leonard, set in Florida.
How well you get on with this may depend on your tolerance for Vince Vaughan and his motor mouth improv schtick. He started out annoying but I'm warming to it and he's kind of perfect for this.

Slow Horses - 4x01
Mostly a setup episode, but still better than most other things on at the moment.
James Callis seems a bit typecast, given that his character is basically another Baltar-esque weaselly coward, but this show being what it is, I fully expect this to be an act and for him to turn out to be a turncoat sonofabitch.

Glad to see the weBOS freebie of three months of Apple TV+ worked fine on the LG TV if not through the website as it got confused. First episode of the latest season of Slow Horses done and now just the wait for the next. Good start and if anyone thought River was actually dead, given all the clear signs he wasn't the episode name was a giveaway too. The writers almost certainly didn't think anyone was going to believe it. Jackson Lamb now honorary EGer for services to Jaffa Cakes.

This just begs the question.. why bother watching any new shows, when they ultimately get canned? Just a waste of time.

I've not watched Time Bandits, but I do find it pretty dispiriting how much sci-fi gets canned early. I know it's because it's expensive to make, but it's still frustrating when you see how much crap does get commissioned or renewed.
To Zissou's point, I belatedly started watching Constellation and wasn't especially enjoying it after a three episodes, then read it was canned and just gave up. Pointless even giving it more of a chance.
Might have to start actively waiting till a show has been renewed before I start watching. Though if everyone does that, nothing will get renewed.

Silo only needs three seasons to finish the book stories, probably, so hopefully they can see that one out with the second close to release and the third presumably in pre-production.
Foundation is great. They can keep making that for as long as they want, but even then the seasons tell reasonable stories on their own and are worth watching even if it did get canned.

Pointless even giving it more of a chance. Fuck sake, I actually really enjoyed that. But, yes, of course nobody is watching these things. Nobody watches Apple TV. I think what they really need to do is spend some money on licensing some trash. Just a big library dump of *something* other than turgid 'prestige' content. I was looking for something to watch the other day and on their movies tab its basically the same things that have been there since day one. My account seems to have tapped out on free codes and when this one runs out, I'm done. 9.99 a month is punchy for something with little to no regular content drops and a paper thin, one note library.

The cancellation did your decision making a favour, it goes downhill from the set up episodes.. I got to 6 before i gave up and wished i had sooner. Not surprised they canned this one. Has a great and prob v expensive space station set and effects work, also Noomi Rapace, but that's about it.

The first season of Silo covers only about half of the first book. I reckon they could milk it for 6 seasons. Though I will say the stuff they added to pad it was all good...
