Like many, I am currently drowning in streaming services. I only got Apple TV+ because I got an iPad and that gave me 12 months of free service. Which has been used to only watch Ted Lasso (which is, in fairness, actually excellent!). Now I am watching See. Is there anything else of note worth watching on that service?

Pretty much everything on there is good. Central Park, mythic quest, for all mankind, the morning show and the Emily Dickinson one are worth watching.

Is that See not any good? Looks pretty decent from the adverts I've seen.

See is *weird*. They're really all in on that stupid premise, and it's just such a hard sell. And lots of violence. And a really convoluted story.
I've watched Mosquito Coast, which is sort of intriguing, but has the most unlikable main character in a long while.
For All Mankind is a pulpy show that I still kinda enjoyed.

Just finished the first episode of See. The premise of the show hits a little different in this Delta variant world. But the new way of praying did amuse me. I am actually ready to embrace this branch of christianity!

It feels a little early to pass judgement. It looks pretty. But the idea of the descendants of the last 2 million people on earth to devolve into superstitious savages, is a little hard to swalllow. But I am now watching episode two and am prepared to see where this show goes.

It's not that far fetched with some of the stupi shit we've seen people do during covid times.

I’ve said it before but ‘For all Mankind’ is great. The first season of M Shamalamadingdongs ‘Servant’ was good. I’m watching ‘Physical’ which I like. The main character is such a piece of shit but I think we can all be a bit like her sometimes. I know I can. Beasties Boys documentary is must watch. Later this month we get Isaac Asimov’s ‘Foundation’ which we all hope will be epic!

I watched a few episodes, but found it a little too frothy for my liking. Which is weird, since I can usually watch everything. Guess I am just getting cranky. Was amused to see though that the father to be in 'Trying' was also a member of the crew in Prometheus.

I finished S1 of The Morning Show, thought it was excellent from start to finish with some great performances and intelligent writing and handling of #metoo, not sure why it had middling reviews. Maybe just me...

I quite enjoyed it also, but oddly have zero motivation to even start Season 2.

Wow, S2 of The Morning Show is really not the same standard as S1. This week's episode was beyond horrendous, appalling writing and shitty acting from Aniston. No idea how it got OKed. Really stood out as we've been binging Succession.

Got the 6 month trial through the ps5 and still haven't watched anything from it. They really don't have a stand out must see show on there.

I think the problem with Apple Tv is that it seemingly has this 'worthy' ethos that is weirdly targeted at a stereotypical, white bread apple fan.
Everything on the platform is so fucking boring and it has actually made me realise that I do like to watch trash which this service seems to think its too good for. It doesnt so much as commission content as 'curate' it.

I've like the first two episodes of Foundation and didn't like the first episode of Ted Lasso. I've not watched anything else and have a calendar note to cancel it in January as there's next to sod all there.

I'm not sure Mythic Quest quite adheres to that statement, same with that Steve Carell space force comedy thing, but I think I get the sentiment. It doesn't exist in a vacuum, thankfully. I've got Netflix for trash, and Amazon Prime if I'm really desperate. Shows like For All Mankind, Ted Lasso, Servant, and a couple of others have been worth a watch so far. Viewed through the lens of "get every fucker into Apple One" I can see where they're going with it. TV, Music, mobile gaming, photo storage, and news all in one? It feels inevitable at this point, especially when I discovered that Edge, Future Music, and a bunch of other mags that I wouldn't pay £7 for in WH Smith were all both in the News/Magazine sub. I'm a fucking sucker for those.

I'm a fucking sucker for those. Rolled up in an umbrella sub like prime video, yeah, it does make more sense. I was thinking about moving to apple music from spotify and if I wasnt getting it for free, the extra few quid would be tempting. I absolutely wouldnt sub to this on its own, though. I just find the content so uninspiring. For me 'Invasion' is the the epitome of its ethos to programming. Boring, intentionally meditative and colour graded down to the 'mild depression' tones. Literally everything on there looks like autumn.

Foundation is decent, certainly the best new space sci-fi for a while.
The first 45mins are really quite bad, with loads of concepts quickly thrown at you with minimal explanation and emotional scenes that don't land because you have no real attachment to the characters yet. There are also a few too many silly hats and other sci-fi tropes that give a slightly false impression as to where it's heading. My girlfriend and I rolled our eyes a few times and at the point where Empire is first introduced she gave up, because it was 'too silly'. Had to agree at that point, but I'm glad I persevered. It really improves from the last quarter of episode 1 onwards. From episode two it slows down a bit, dwells on certain concepts for longer and is far better for it.
It's probably the most visually impressive sci-fi tv series I can recall. The futuristic worlds, tech and cultures are mostly convincing. There's obviously a reason that the books are considered classics and whilst I've not read them, it's obvious that the source material is strong, and there's certainly enough intrigue to keep watching.
It's far from perfect, there are some plot holes, the acting is a bit up and down, and the quality of the action scenes vary. Overall though, I'm enjoying it far more than either of the recent Star Treks. I'd especially recommend it to those that liked Altered Carbon and The Expanse. It won't be for everyone, but watch the whole first episode before abandoning.
