Has there been any news about the Bloodstained sequel? I'm sure one was announced at some stage, albeit perhaps unofficially. There has been some talk, but I believe it was nothing solid. And they're still struggling to fulfil part 1's kickstarter promises.

Is there something you can do with that painting with the eyeball that follows you around the room? Nothing that I know of Not too far off from the end now. What's the plus game like and can you change the difficulty? Wondering if it's worth getting 100% on normal
I've used the shield, Teps Oceus (great for clearing rooms) and Summon bats (larger enemies and bosses) this playthrough. The shield lets you just crouch in front of some bosses and attack(/guard) until dead. Worked on Bloodless
Is there any purpose to the chairs everywhere or Celeste's room?

Wondering if it's worth getting 100% on normal NG+ lets you play it all over again, except that you keep your level and almost all your stuff, making you so ludicrously overpowered that imo this game mode is utterly pointless. You can change difficulty for a NG+ run I believe, but even so you're way overpowered. Getting 99% map completion unlocks more tomes and a bonus boss, the hardest in the game aside from Iga (DLC). Those are some of the best shards, although my favourite attack shard is Throw Spear, Summon Bats is good but a bit slow for my liking. Faster mana regeneration when sitting on chairs. I believe that's it, I don't care enough to bother tbh.

I seem to remember reading about the optional boss because I wanted to know what the empty but obviously a boss room was the last time I finished it. I think it's OD. Definitely want to see that this time
I think I'll just start a clean save for hard then and blacklist my current abilities like you said. I noticed that you can do dive kicks while I was jumping about so I might do boots next
Forgot to say I'm also using the knight familiar. Had a bug (?) where I had two summons at one point. I unequipped everything and quit/reloaded to make sure it was just a bug and lost it. I could switch out one without losing the other before that though
Regarding the graphics, I think the environments look good but the models are a mixed bag. Johannes looks pretty bad, especially his run animation

Same for slides which is great against toads etc. Still probably the hardest weapon type to play.

What shall I do next, Salt and Sanctuary or Yokus Island Express? Salt and Sanctuary is an ugly, poor Dark Souls rip off in every sense. I haven't played the other one but it has to be better

Salt and Sanctuary is just terrible. They've made a sequel and really expanded on the first by adding a hookshot from Sekiro and mechanics from Monster Hunter World. They named the first location Ashbourne Village. It really is the most galling of the Dark Souls knock offs

I think Ender Lillies was in Rob's ranking of metroidvanias he's played a few pages back. Don't think it was high though
Are you binging metroidvanias? What have you played?

I didn't like Ender Lilies at all, abandoned after 15 min or so. Not saying it's bad, but clearly not my kind of game.

Have played all the regulation ones. Just completed Dig 2 which was superb. Currently on guac then will be looking for the next one. Maybe Yoku first it seems.

Completed my Bloodstained Normal playthrough
Presentation wise it is a bit ropey in places (the ending cutscene looks absolutely awful) but the controls are on point. The weapon/shard variety is its biggest strength - there really are so many options. The invert ability and the way you defeat Gebel properly are really cool
The Shield Weapon trivialises a lot of enemies and bosses but it's not really very challenging on Normal anyway so I just had fun with it. I could just crouch next to OD and attack until he decided to move, then jump in the air and make sure to land next to him when he reappears and carry on. You can even block the flames of the boss in the 8 bit stage by just crouching and pressing attack while they go through you
Started a new game on Hard and it's quite a step up. Not off the ship yet and already died a couple of times. It's quite a rude awakening to realise I haven't really paid attention to any enemy attack patterns. I'm already dodging and sliding under attacks now as getting hit actually matters and enemies last a bit longer. Going with boots this time - you can do the triple kick in mid air, which is cool
Had a quick look at Classic Mode and... Well, it looks a bit rough amd cobbled together from existing assets, which it is. Not sure how inclined I am to see much more of that
Who or what is Aurora?

Aurora is the protagonist of Child of Light, some other platforming RPG or whatever. I believe I tried the demo and didn't like it.

No. It has "Soul" in the name, the Steam page says it has Soulslike combat, and gameplay footage seems to confirm that... so definitely not a game for me

Ghost Song is suppose to be alright but I've heard mixed things. I played a game yonks ago called Knytt Underground that I remember enjoying. I think it's a metroidvania. I liked the little pitter patter sound your feet made and there's a grumpy fairy companion. I keep meaning to revisit it

Ghost Song has decent gameplay and some interesting weapons, but it goes on too long and has loads of backtracking which is my bête noire for Metroidvanias as it's always down to poor design.

Must have died about 20 times trying to beat the first boss on Bloodstained. Had a really hard time avoiding her attacks. Ended up just evading until she moved behind the ship and then getting the damage in there. Zangetsu was much easier
Hard mode is such a different experience - much more tense. Getting to a save room feels like an accomplishment (and relief). I've got the bit between my teeth in a way I never did on Normal. Been doing alright with True Arrow and the windy one that goes along the floor so far

Never usually bother once completing a game of this type, I did this on normal and never went back.

I dunno, it might have put you off the game. There's plenty of fun to be had exploring and playing around with the different abilities on Normal. It's worth going back and having a go on Hard if you want a challenge
You'd have to play it on Normal first anyway as Hard difficulty isn't available until after you've finished it on that
