I'm here, how can I help User Zissou needs to know how to get your quads to stop hurting. Hopefully involving heated oils, massaging equipment, deeeeeep deep stretches. The usual.

Why would DOMs fuck your knees? Unless you have joint pain it’ll be fine, you’ll just irritate the recovery a bit.

Well I managed to do 400 meter run.. 30 Box Jumps.. 30 Wall shots. Now I'm crying. Can't remember how many repetitions as I'm fucked.

Sounds like a good workout.
A few more weeks and things will ease off. Use that roller a bit more.
I have one too, but tend to be too lazy to use it unless there's dire need, so don't be like me!

My gym routine is very much dictated by whichever part of me hurts the least that morning

My deload week has had 2x 1hr zone 2 cycles & an easy pace 5k run thus far.
Probably an easy full body session in the gym tomorrow night too.
Back definitely feeling less tight. Getting back to it properly next week will be a shock to the system!

Just did a very stop/start 4 mile run for the first time in nearly ten years, feel like I'm going to die.
I can do 20+ mile on the bike in one go but running is completely beyond me.

After my workout yesterday the thing that hurts the most is my middle toe. Did my first weightlifting and I assume because of the stance of going on my toes has caused that.

I'm going back to the gym tomorrow after what feels like a very long time away, due to a health scare.
I'm very much looking forward to it, and I hope you're all looking to my future post complaining of doms.
I'll be easing myself back in though so I shouldn't be too bad.

If it's any consolation, I did legs two days ago and coming up the 5 stories worth of stairs a few times at work today has been fun. Taking it two steps at a time for extra stretch & burn! Leg day is the best day. And also the *Worst* day a bit later

I think I feel better doing a workout now, than actually having the rest day. Especially at the weekend when I have 3 days off, then it's like fuck I've got to keep moving and do something.

Morning, do people here have any recommendation on how to calorie count their food? I'm thinking apps/websites/books.
My wife and I are looking to cut down on the amount that we eat. I don't want to cut out all food but get an understanding on how "healthy" they are. I home cook most things and use a variety of ingredients. I'm not looking for it to be 100% accurate but more of a way to guage if something I'm making should be eaten less of or if I should change portion sizes and remove/add calorific items.
I'm happy to, every now and again, break down and weigh what I'm cooking so that I can, over a period of weeks or months create a logbook of what I make, portion sizes and calories. We can then use that to calorie control our diet.
For example, for breakfast I make smoothie. It consists of 1 banana, 6 walnuts, 1tbsp protein powder, 1tbsp oats, 1tbsp tsp chia seeds, 1tbsp flax seeds and milk. Some times I'll add cacao, peanut butter, spinach or avocado. I'm assuming I can weigh and measure each of these (or get calorie per 100g from the packet in the case of the protein powder for example) and get a consistent calorie figure?

Things like myfitnesspal have usually an approximation for most things, as someone will have logged similar. It won't be fully accurate but shouldn't need to be either - a general idea should be fine if it's just for weight loss. Portion sizes are probably thr best place to start.

I used calories counter plus for a few months.
It didn't really work out for me and was making me very unhappy as I was consistently over my goal so just though fuck it.
Means I haven't lost any weight at all though, but at least I'm not stressing over food constantly.

MFP should be fine for the job, but I think they lock quite a bit behind a paywall now. I tend to create my own entries for food items rather than relying on the user generated ones as they're more often than not incorrect (I don't use MFP but the same is true for all of them).
But, yeah, you can weigh your food, get all the totals, save recipes, etc. As long as you recreate them with similar portion sizes each time it'll keep you on the right track.

I used something called macros for a bit. It was like MFP, but free to use. Search carefully for what you're looking for and check the nutritional values- I think some entries are from folk wanting to ego-massage their calories intakes- the ones for beers and flat whites etc seemed especially low, so do go looking for more accurate ones to populate you 'most common list' for more accurate tracking if you want to go down that route.

My work canteen no longer offers a selection at breakfast so I can't get poached eggs on toast, so my choice when I go in is basically either a bacon sandwich or croissant.
I don't want to eat delicious nitrate meat that often, trying to save it for the weekends, but the croissant is hardly a healthier choice because butter. I could just get cereal at home but that rarely appeals.
My weight has basically stuck at 80kg and doesn't really seem to move. Could still do with losing 8kg or so though. Need to try and find an approach my weak willpower can stick with.
