Nuke them from orbit.
It’s the only way to be sure.

Have you ever put a Tesco own-brand potato waffle in the toaster because you couldn't be bothered to turn on the grill?
Of course you haven't! You're a sensible person.

Why are the Tesco ones different from the brand ones when it comes to popping them in the toaster? Structural integrity? Or is it more you shouldn't do that regardless (asking, because I have toasted potato waffles in the toaster for years without incident)?

Clearly I'm unfit to operate a toaster, as my attempts to do this were an utter disaster! Maybe I'm being unfair to the Tesco-branded waffles, as I've never tried to toast the Birds Eye variety, but the one I bunged in the toaster earlier just fell apart. It went from frozen solid to a disintegrating mess in the blink of an eye. Then I burned myself while trying to tilt the toaster with one hand and dig out the waffle with the other (using the handle of a wooden spoon I'd hastily grabbed, instead of the metal fork that was my first thought). Fuck's sake. Tasted alright, mind

I always find the Morrisons ones are pretty crumbly too. By the time they’re on the plate they’re basically chips. Would not trust them in the toaster.

Are you toasting them from frozen? Wouldn't that just end up making the toaster wet as the ice thaws?

It's safe to toast things from frozen (unless you're me, in which case a wet toaster will be the least of your concerns).

Ah cool, I'm going to cook all my frozen food in the toaster now. Waffles, chips, peas...

Just remember to put anything loose (chips, peas, onion rings, etc.) into ziplock bags first, or else they'll go everywhere.

They're pretty much small air fryers.

They're pretty much small air fryers. Exactly, but for some reason steak actually tastes even better this way.

I don't have a toaster. But then, you can't get potato waffles here anyway, so I guess I don't need one.

Is it just me, or have food standards in supermarkets fallen lately? Meats like beef and chicken especially, there seems to be less quality control, and a lot of things now seem to have a chemical odour when you open the packaging.
I don't know whether it's a symptom of battery farming, but it's almost like I can taste a kind of misery from the animals that's somehow transferred over, and no amount of cracked black pepper can disguise it.

Tomatoes, carrots etc seem devoid of flavouroids. Just watery. I am settling for the cheap stuff coz times are tough right now. Maybe I should splash out one day at a farmer's market or something, just to test my sanity.

We used to buy our supermarket's own brand pulled pork and it was lovely. Came with its own little sachet of BBQ sauce. Now there's no sauce and instead of nice meaty strips of pork it has the texture of soggy sausage meat. Last time we bought it I even found little chunks of bone that hadn't been sufficiently ground up. Fucking disgusting, we binned it.

Sainsy B's best for fruit & veg we find. Pretty sound but yeah supermarkets generally pretty poor. Use a market if you can.

Why are integral appliances so shit, we had a problem with the dishwasher last night turning on and off and powering up then immediately shutting down and repeating (I hate the bastard things but that's another story) anyway lot's of swearing and almost breaking me I discovered that mice have chewed through the drain hose, not sure if that's why it was going doolally but eventually unplugged the piece of shit so peace has resumed. However if I'm not mistaken I think I've managed to leave my crowbar under the units behind the plinth.
