Basically where I am now. It's not a good look. This is what hats are for...

I had started growing my hair when I discovered my bald spot. Shaved it all off immediately. There's some peace to be had in not having to worry about going bald anymore. Because you've gone bald

I've had short hair for as long as I remember. I've had a bald patch that's just getting bigger on my crown. It's getting the "Zidane at Juventus" stage now, I think I might have to go and cueball my hair....

Also, the thing about hair transplants is that it's probably going to go grey anyway, and you'll get wrinkles, start pissing yourself, etc. Might as well just accept getting old instead of fighting a losing battle. I don't even try to hold it in anymore. It's liberating

I'm glad my decision has reinvigorated this thread. It's still weird catching myself in the mirror but I really am so happy I did it.
I'd recommend it to anyone who's on the fence. It'll grow back if you don't like it.
It has encouraged me to have a longer than usual (for me, anyway) beard length, so that might kick in for you fine folks also.

Pretty sure 90% of the forum are bald with beards. I'm avoiding the 'works in IT' look myself

Pretty sure 90% of the forum are bald with beards. I'm avoiding the 'works in IT' look myself I respect that. My issue is that I have a large jaw and chin and, in my opinion, a too-small mouth. I once showed my then three-year-old a photograph of me without a beard and he immediately said "you need a beard on that face."

Another factor is my beard is ginger, and my hair dark brown

He is, which I admire. And he's absolutely right, a trait he inherits from his mother.

Here's to user Ape, whose body never fails to get the forum hopping - from the anaconda in his pants to his smooth and shapely cranium, and everywhere in between, we at Font Geek value and appreciate you. Cheers!
Seriously, man, good on you. It takes guts to do that sort of thing. I get the whole, "It'll grow back" angle, and agree with it in the main, but if you've ever had a bad haircut (which I certainly have!), you'll know that waiting for it to grow out can be bloody agonising.

Thanks for the kind words, Ulythium. I don't feel like I contribute much in this place, so of my baldness can get things going, there's some positive to come of it.

Seriously, baldness is great. The only thing you have to look out for is dry skin, because a bald head with flocks of dead skin on it is disgusting.
Oh and in summer you better wear a hat or you'll get sunstroke pretty fast. Also a hat when it gets colder, because you lose a lot of heat via the cranium, when there is no hair insulation.
But a serious cult leader must have a clean shaven head. It just gives you a more dedicated look. The look of a man with a purpose and no time for coiffure.

Got a Remington Quick Cut clippers recently and tried it for the first time today and it was fantastic.
I got it to replace my old Phillips clippers I got during the first lockdown as it can closer than it, and I am very impressed.
Recomooonded

You should have gone for the Remington RX5. I've never looked back since getting one of these. Takes far less time.

I don't (yet) shave my head completely, I just needed something to cut the back and sides shorter, and quicker. I'll get one of those when I want to go fully clean shaven

Uh, the cure is pretty well known, but it's expensive and comes with some side effects.

I've always wanted to try the Karl Pilkington wig he had on in Idiot Abroad. Looked fairly decent.

I was talking about HRT, like Finasteride, Dutasteride, and alternatives like Monoxidil.
But just accepting it and shaving it all off is still the best, as it doesn't have biological side effects. You can combine it with a wig, if you care that much.

Once it starts going the only acceptable solution is to shave it all off. Nothing sadder than a Picard.
