You better hope they never get as far as God Emperor then. Watching him die thousands of times does have a certain appeal.

Jason Moam is the biggest turn off though. He's absolute shite at acting. I was quite surprised by how shit he is. For some reason I thought he was an okay actor, but after Dune he's on the list. Might have confused him with The Rock.

He was pretty good in Frontier even if the show was kind of shit. Same with See really. I haven’t seen Braven but it’s supposed to be alright.

No, they love the Momoa, even when he was making funnies about all the raping he got to do in GoT.
I think his PR people had a word after that and he's been mostly on point about being an aquaman ecowarrior ever since.
To be fair to him, he does seem like a decent guy and his heart is in the right place for most things. He's just a shitty actor, but he's beefcake.

Might have confused him with The Rock. I can only imagine Villeneuve confused him with someone else too, Bret The Hitman Hart possibly. His performance in the Conan remake is baffling. He looks like he's about to burst out laughing at any given moment.

I'd completely forgotten there was a Conan remake.
Anyway, Jason Moam getting jobs because pin-up makes sense. I can be at peace with that. Quite telling that I didn't remember that he was Khal Druggo, his cave man acting suited the role perfectly so he came across as a decent actor. Polar opposite to the Khalisi who's haughty queenyness made her seem shit, when she's actually quite alright.

Everyone should try The Bad Batch (2016 - not the disney SW one) and then give their opinions on the acting therein. It's... er... interesting.

Just listened to the audio book of Dune and followed up and watched the spice diver cut of old dune. By Jove the film has not aged well. (Not sure if this is because of the fan edit though.) I was surprised how much dialogue was ripped from the books and also how it doesn't hold up very well as dialogue for a film. Or maybe the actors didn't have the talent or direction to do the dialogue justice. Either way a lot of that film is painful to watch now.

I love the dialogue in Dune, I wish they'd kept the even fruitier stuff.
I also (I know most people cannot stand it) love the inner monologues.

I have a discount ticket that I can use at one IMAX near my house... but it's one of those shitty imax-lite ones that's basically just a bit bigger than a regular screen. I watched Rise of Skywalker on it and it was pretty underwhelming.. which might have just been the movie itself.. but the movie did at least look good so I think not.
Or I can pay a shed load more and go to the other IMAX in town which has the biggest screen in the country... sigh. Choices. Not been there before though, so if that IMAx turns out to be underwhelming too then I'm gonna be pissed off.

Tickets to the IMAX on the 23rd booked. Let’s go! Assuming you’re still living in the big smoke, I take it that’ll be your LASER IMAX? It’s showing at our one as well. Best popcorn ever/laser imax/Dune Sold

Even LASER IMAX doesn't really seem to mean much. There's regular laser imax which just uses one projector and is a bit naff, or there's some kind of proper laser imax that uses 2 projectors. As far as I can tell...
When I watched Star Wars it was supposed to be LAZER IMAXX!! and it was basically a regular movie screen.

I’m talking the real deal. A real IMAX, with lasers
The picture clarity is insane. Like, so sharp it kind of takes you out of the movie as you marvel at the image quality rather than image itself

There’s a Lie-MAX at Cardiff thats significantly smaller than the regular sized screens that they used to try and con people into paying for. As far as I’m concerned, IMAX only really makes sense at BFI in London or Bradford. Makes it a proper day out in terms of spectacle (and cost) once in a while.

Saw it myself tonight, thanks Cineworld. Great stuff and I say that as someone who isn't a Dune novel fan as I never finished the first one.
This film really does need watching on a big screen, the big battle especially is stunning in scale.

It's phenomenal. There's so many ideas and concepts from the books that have never even remotely successfully been portrayed on screen before, but our Lord and Saviour Denis Villeneuve Peace be Upon Him, absolutely nails it.
I wasn't sure about that Timothee Chalamet kid, thought he looked a bit wimpy and scrawny in the trailers, but he's great. Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, phwoar.
It's going to be a long wait for Part 2.
