🎯 DK-Tropical Freeze finally done. Was nearer the end than I thought before my "abject cowardice" took over.
It's definitely one on the best 2d platformers .

I'm getting close to the end of the Wolfenstein II dlc, having already completed the main campaign on Hard - great game BTW - so I've taken a punt on 🦆Darkest Dungeon: Ancestral Edition as the game seems to be quite a popular and well received RPG.

I think i may have to throw myself on the mercy of the mighty duckbreaker & a potential pigwhip jury.
Back4Blood act 4 (i.e. the very last bit, is super tough).
I have tried it many times and at best have been a cm or so of health from killing the bloody thing. That's after about 20+ attempts. Not helped that it will glitch out and not allow you to access the weakpoints in tge second section periodically.
I will keep chipping away for a bit, but it's getting soul-destroying tbh & i can feel myself parking this pretty damn soon.
If it stays on, it stays on, but I've given it my best shot.

I know that Darkest Dungeon also has a reputation as a bastard hard game Phattso, with rougelike/lite characteristics too. But I figure it's November and we're almost at the end of this year's challenge (woohoo!). I've also got three other slots free, as I've now completed 🎯 Wolfenstein II Deluxe Edition so it was worth a punt on DD for around £6. I'm also tempted by Jedi: Fallen Order which is approximately £15 in the current PS sale, and I've read this is like a Star Wars soulslike experience which may well be an interesting combination, so I might add that soon too. |

Heh - DD is an *amazing* game, but it'll be on your list for the balance of the year for sure. It was one of my ten games in the first ever year for this challenge. You know, back when it was actually a challenge and worth winning. |

No that sounds fair enough to drop it if (seemingly) poor game design is stopping progress. This challenge is not here to punish us, despite how much I enjoy your pain. Have a last go, maybe watch a quick strategy on YouTube to see if you are missing anything obvious and if it is still a load of bollocks then it rightfully can go on the scrap heap and pass as completed here |

Needed something to wash away the bitter taste of Back4Blood.
Still trying that last boss fight on & off, but even quick play joins often mean you can't actually join if it's on a later stage and stick at spawn .
The matchmaking late on in b4b is really poor.

Amazing to see those two different games in back-to-back posts. One a lower budget game from a really small team that, even for basic story completion, is a good 30 hours of staggeringly high quality play time. The other a bombastic huge multi-studio effort that offers about 12 hours of by-the-numbers brawling and high spectacle, and then turns into a boring grind fest. Pigwhippers, you definitely cover the whole spectrum.  |

Axiom Verge done. Pretty good overall but maybe a touch too long (stretched by me getting lost all the time). Still, saw it through to the credits so that’s another chalked off. Free slots galore!

🦆Jedi: Fallen Order into a slot please. Grabbed it before it left the last sale, but I'll get to it later as I'm rather enjoying Darkest Dungeon, even though it's bloody nails sometimes.
Anyway, how's everyone doing now we're shuffling closer to the end of the year and therefore this year's challenge? Seems a bit quiet in here at the moment, though perhaps that's an understandable lull, given that most new console games are currently in development as the various devs get to grips with PS5/XSX.
As Phattso alluded to above, it doesn't seem many of you Xbox gamers have been enticed by either Forza Horizon 5 or the recent launch of the Halo Infinite multiplayer and soon to be released story campaign, and you would have let us all know if you were playing those, right 👀🦆...? 😃

It alludes to a number of things. Battlepasses, lootboxes, those daily/timed events. Little things that make you engage in them regularly to keep you competitive.

🎯 Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition
Panicked when I saw Phattso tagging it as 30 hours plus, I had it down as a palate cleanser between longer games. In the end it flew by (although 2 spells of isolation, kid’s positive Covid test and a gas leak respectively helped).
77% completion after beating the boss and keep finding new areas and things to do. The occasional clunky controls (downward slash was very temperamental although that could be a crap dpad). Would thoroughly recommend it.
