Where do we stand on expiring Nintendo points? I am way too slow at completing games, but I have £4 of Nintendo points expiring soon, so don't want to waste them... You have got yourself in a bit of a pickle there with four slots filled and 4 whole pounds at stake. First of all, when do they actually expire? Could you see off a game before then? If not then the Pigwhip Jury must decide. Do we allow the poor forward planning to go unpunished and the procurement of an additional game with no consequences? I think not... I suggest a CHALLENGE to absolve your sins (assuming you spend the points). For reference your four slots are filled with: Super Mario 3D, Picross S2, Grindstone, Ass Creed Oranges What to impose I wonder...

I think The Medium might fit the bill there, if that's your bag. It didn't set the world alight, but I quite enjoyed my time with it. Similar to my feelings on Senua, actually, which you just finished. About the right length for the game it was, if that makes sense. Thanks, I'll have a look into it and see if it looks like it'd float my boat. Carrion was great shout, last time I was looking for recommendations, I don't think I'd ever have tried that, but seriously enjoyed it.

Part of the problem is I'm not buying games anymore. I'm trying to blast through Grindstone now... 95 main levels down! I'm on world 6 of Mario, but haven't even looked at Bowser's Fury yet. Otherwise, challenge it might be!

Might give A Plague Tale a go.
Worth playing? Not sure The medium is what I'm looking for at the moment. Looks kinda similar to Hellblade, with puzzling in a creepy environment, or am i picking it up wrong?
Maybe plague tale is also overly similar too! 😀

Not only that, but 🎯 Metro Exodus credits have rolled. I got the bad ending because I accidentally murdered about two hundred innocent people. On such marginal numbers do big decisions swing, I guess. I'm 50/50 on the game. I liked it enough to finish it, but I'm not entirely sure all of it was worth my time. When it was good it absolutely sang, but when it was bad it was jank-a-geddon. I felt like that about the other Metro games. Mind you I'm notoriously fussy these days and I still beat them so that says a lot. This was before joining this challenge too so there was no mad Duck with a stick in its beak ensuring I stick around to find the joy or pain in my purchases. So far all I've learned from this challenge is it makes buying games really difficult. I've basically resorted to buying games I've enjoyed before knowing how fussy I am these days and loitered around digital stores too afraid to hit purchase This is both good and bad because whilst I'm spending less and enjoying what I've bought (mostly) I could be missing out on good games. I could also be saving myself from disappointment but the unknown bothers me. It's quite a pickle..

As I said in my last post I'm terribly critical but I quite liked A Plague Tale. It had a certain something

Forgiving stealth is a bonus if you've ever seen me play dishonored etc, it generally starts out stealthy, until a mistake causes a discovery and panic, then death ensues everywhere!

I read a few people complain on the old forum that there are some infuriating moments of insta-fail stealth sections in A Plague Tale. I can't say as I have been tempted to play this myself too. Funnily enough, I'm currently working through Dishonored 2 having completed Dishonored 1 and whilst I'm enjoying them, I think I'll have had my fill with stealth games for a little while by the time I'm done 🙂.

Phew, Fantasian is done 🎯 just over 90 hours on the clock.
I wasn't sure I'd get through it as it's pretty tough by JRPG standards but I'm glad I stuck with it, even though I had to pay for an extra month of Arcade to get through it.

Just finished 🎯Dishonored 2. Yeah, I've enjoyed playing both the first and second games in the series, back to back. There was a nice graphical leap in D2, it looked really lovely in places. The new setting, for most of the game at least, was rather nice too.
I manged to stealth my way through both games, but there was the odd death here and there, ahem... I'm glad that I've finally got those two games off my 'I haven't actually played those before' list of popular games that passed me by for one reason or another. Good stuff!

Well after 81 hours, level 250 ,and all 45 order members dealt with 🎯 Valhalla is done. Bit of a slog but mostly enjoyable.

🎯AC Syndicate done and dusted. Plan was to just blaze through the main storyline but as usual I got sidetracked. Still 24 hours played is a lot less than I racked up on the more recent ACs.
What's the deal at the end of the year with games you haven't finished? Is the slate wiped clean if you sign up for PIGWHIP 2022 or do they carry over?
Phattso's trials with Sekiro have rekindled my interest in a game I had decided I was too old and slow to play. If I commit to it now I am stuck with it if my worst fears come true and I can't make it past the first boss?

Yes, if you want to start afresh next year you can have the slate wiped clean for any leftovers from this year should you wish. You can also carry over any games you'd like the motivation to see through as well 👍.

Yeah it’s a bit of an honour system thing at the end of each year. DuckBreaker ducks off back to Mallard Towers on about the 20th and turns a blind eye.
It’s generally frowned upon to stock up on games or start shit you have no intention of finishing right at the end there, but there’s something of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” if you wanted to indulge yourself a bit over Christmas.
And don’t forget that literal completion is only the goal if you want it to be. So in the case of things like Sekiro the folk in here set me a reasonable “out” condition about 30% into the story if it was kicking my arse too badly. Like a fool I ploughed on. ;-)

I'll give it a shot then. Just need to find it at a decent price. The duck will have enough to worry about at Christmas anyway what with the expected shortage of turkeys. People will need to find alternatives.......

I havn’t done a update in a while but have comepleted Assassins Creed Valhalla and Kaze. Valhalla was ok. A bit of a slog in the end but it is what it is.
I started Sekiro but bounced of it a little bit. Help. Started Resident Evil Revelations this afternoon too. Think I could be dancing with one slot till the end of the year 😂

Scratch another bogie: 🎯 Psychonauts 2 credits have rolled. Says 18 hours on the clock, feels like twice that. Not sure yet if that's a good thing or not.
I wonder if the extra support Double Fine will get post-acquisition by Microsoft will allow them to keep all of the vibrant, funny, imaginative stuff in their games... and cut out all of the shit-gripping frustrations that they can't help but bake in, I imagine due to team scale and budget.

I agree tbh, it felt like a slog towards the end. I really enjoyed it to start with, but stuff just started to get a bit annoying and there was definitely some stuff that could have used a bit more polish.

Oh, and
🦆 Plague Tale.
Not sure how i feel about this and may regret adding it.
I kind of like the atmosphere, but the boy is a right p.i.t.a. It feels a bit clunky too, but only a few levels in.

Guess I should declare a couple of new games on my list:
🦆 Metroid Dread - I couldn't resist, only my second "blind" day one purchase of the year.
🦆 Hot Wheels Unleashed - because those fuckers in the thread wouldn't stop going on and on and on and on about how perfect and awesome it was.

🦆 Fallout 4 season pass
Seems to have been missed from an earlier update. Done Automatron and Far Harbor, FH being the standout of the two. Moved on to Nuka World and I’m losing interest, might just be that I’m over exposed to the game. Need to have another run at it.

Well, I let my Nintendo points expire. Reached level 150 of Grindstone, only to find there are more to go. There's the odd good level, but so much of it is just a... grind.
